    Fair enough
Because he didn't want to risk it, I never said it was easy, just that it was possibly and I think it takes the Fallen some time until they can fully take over. Otherwise there would be no one going back from it.

Possible, or they just kill her out of spite since they know Mab wouldn't start a war over a girl she doesn't care about. But this would mean him fully rejecting the wizard side and I don't think Harry can afford to become an enemy, not with the Black Council still existing.

I know it is unlikely but Charity seems like one of the few choices right now, Murphy has not the freedom to do things like that anymore, Micheal is injured as you said, Thomas may or may not help, Sanya the same and there is contacting him first and it seems kind of fitting that Charity repays Harry by coming along to save his daughter and while Charity may not be a main fighter she still kicks ass.

Hell, maybe she even picks up a sword, to let the "business" stay in the family. (extremely unlikely, I know)

Thing is, him losing his humanity happened not that long ago so him recovering it in this book seems kind of soon.

Update: Ooops. Posted in the wrong thread.

Samples chapters were awesome, though! Actually, I thought one was going to be posted last night and stayed up, only to discover they get posted Tuesday. Ugh.

Well, it's not certain, but I've been assuming that Thomas will help out based on the review someone posted here.

It says that "All the regulars (including cop Murphy; Harry’s half brother, vampire Thomas; Sanya the Knight; and Harry’s apprentice, Molly) are featured, as they, too, risk everything to save Harry’s daughter."

That doesn't have to mean that Thomas suddenly becomes his old self though. I sort of hope it doesn't because it was just at the end of the last book that he changed, but he could help out for different reasons. Trying to help Lara manuever the White Court into having an advantage over the Red or something like you say, but the review does seem to imply that he's trying to save her and not use her for his own ends.

I think I said some of that before, but I'm not sure where. I've got too many posts in this thread to find it. >.>

Should be tonight... I don't know what time zone he's in though. I'm guessing in about 18 minutes, but could be off.

I was expecting Harry to demonstrate less control than he did. This was much better.

I'm wondering what would have happened if she had told Harry. How could Harry have protected Maggie? She could have spent a lot of time with the Carpenters, which would go quite a distance... Or, if she didn't live with him, he could probably have called in some sort of favour.

Hm... Perhaps made a bargain for a fae to be her godparent? I wonder what Mab would want in return? A few more favours? What about Leansidhe? Or Lily?

It wouldn't surprise me if the Council has some sort of way of protecting the children of Wardens...

I'm fairly sure he could have organised far better protection for her than anonymity.

Mouse growled at Susan. Unless Butcher's going for a complete red herring, a beer says she'll be the one to fuck Dresden over somehow before the end: something like she betrays him to the Reds in exchange for Maggie. Mouse is never wrong. (Well, maybe he is, but still, it's Mouse).

Two people Dresden trusts implicitly--Mac and Mouse--have already delivered warnings. Never trust vamps with tramp stamps.

Are spoiler tags really required since this is pretty explicitly spoilered thread at this point?

Regardless, it seems possible that Mouse was growling at Susan's decision not to tell Harry about the child. It was somewhat of a dick move afterall, and Mouse is said the be sentient and intelligent so he is presumably aware of that fact. He could simply have growled because he knows how much Susan has hurt Harry with this and is angry about that.

Though a betrayal from Susan might be an option anyway. In Butchers forums someone suggested that the fellowship might be angry at the White Council for stopping the war against the Red Court and leaving them to fight alone. Could this entire thing be a trick to make Harry do something to restart the war?

I agree that Susan is bound to fuck Dresden over... yet again.

My prediction is it end up in South America and a new Knight of the Cross gets chosen. It seems like the perfect spot for someone to take one of the sword, to me at least. There's already people of the Church down there fighting. I expect the Duchess to get a face full of rage fueled soulfire with a dash of whoopass.

Edit: I can't remember where did he get his new facial scar?

Mouse is never wrong Pers? Well, yes and no. He growled at Thomas's little sister (can't remember her name right now) at least once, and she wasn't a full blown White Court Vampire at the time and as far as we know she avoided that fate all together by falling in love before her first fatal feeding. Likewise Mouse growled at Molly in Proven Guilty, and she's on the good guys team.

Granted in both instances above Mouse did have a reason to growl (bit of the White Court or Black Magic showing through), but then similar reasons could be attributed to his growling at Susan since she is infected by the Red Court. I don't think it has to mean anything more than that.

Uriel, oh yes, shit just got real. And Lucis? Hell yeah, this control was awesome. Like he said, he's beyond mad and we have never seen him in quite this way before.

MOAR PLZ. ;) Glad I stayed up to read it.

Edit: White Rabbit -- If I recall correctly, the new scar is from Turn Coat when he caught up to Peabody. Peabody managed to cut him good before Morgan took him out.

Wonder who's going to get custody of the kid after this is over...

I'm not sure I'm buying the "it was safer not to tell Dresden about the child." It definitely wouldn't have been safe to leave her with him, but simply telling Dresden about it wouldn't have carried the same risks...

First, I agree with you on the control thing. Cold, angry and calm Dresden is beautiful.

For the second part of your post... what the fuck? Its Butcher's verse, what he says goes. You can't state that there was definitely a better way for it to be done.

Honestly, the only one out of that, that I could accept would be perhaps her staying with the Carpenter's, however, I doubt Dresden would ever ask Michael for that, especially with the danger she would bring to his home.

As for the White Council? Good fucking luck, they want to kill Dresden remember? Not to mention, the Black Council had spies in the White Council, so the Reds, or worse, would of simply found out faster.

I'm looking forward to Dresden killing shit.

When is this book due out? Because I really can't fucking wait.

Edit: I found this snippet review on a bookstore website for NZ

That seems to confirm that he will give into a source of Dark Power. What it could be still remains speculation. EIther he could just use Magic to kill a human, ie black magic, or we are looking at something more. I cannot fucking wait to find out. That is all.

Why not? Alternate universe fan fics are common in every fandom. making theories about how Harry would have acted had he known and what he would have done to protect the child is perfectly fine.

It is Butcher's verse, and Butcher seems to be pretty much saying that how Susan did to it was very poor way. I mean the child was kidnapped. Can't get much worse than that. Harry could very well have found a better way.

Was it not said that the Carpenter household is now protected from supernatural predation by angels/archangels as a sort of retirement benefit from Michaels job as a Knight. Harry is also quite close to the Carpenters and they are close to him, so having the child adopted by them would make sense.

The other possibility is that the child will return to her adopted parents. They might be alive still afterall, and they are the only family the child has ever known.

Not everyone. Harry does have allies there, including in the Senior Council. I do agree though that they will not help here. Except maybe Eb.

Yeah, cause having a fairy godparent worked so damn well the last time. It's not like he was screwed over a dozen times as a result, including nearly being turned into a dog, and becoming a servent of the Winter Monarch, or anything like that.

    Oh, wait.

Also, the Council has been proven to have spys in it. It would be a very bad idea to give them anything if you don't want you enemy to know about it (remember, until recently, the guy who did all the paperwork was a spy).

Datakim: Michael got that recently. And the side story proved it doesn't apply to mortals...which the Reds have hundreds of.

And now we shall all thrust out fists into the air with glee.

I know, I know, it's only the begining of the book, and Dresden changes his mind every now and then.

    But Bam, right there.

Oh hell yeah, can't wait for it to come out.

Although, on the diplomacy angel, he does have two swords to bargain with, if he ever decides to do that :/

Fuck. I shouldn't have read the chapters. I'm far too interested already. And I won't read it for nearly a year...

I only just finished Turncoat two days ago (pretty good, but not the best). I've got the first eleven books in the series in the same style paperback (the second one that comes out; the better looking one) and, call me obsessive compulsive, but I want the rest in that same style too. I am seriously considering breaking that habit for this... but I know I won't. Goddamn why does it take nearly a year for that version to come out...
