That is the purpose of a beta XD. I think I'm destined to float around the middle of gold league T__T. At least until I learn to play zerg way better than I am now.

Well, since you should be completely used to wading through shit, TeamLiquid.net has some useful things at places.

    It's just 99% terrible.

    :D

Just got out of the practice league. Wasnt too bad, won my first and 2nd and then they all proceeded downhill from there Hate people who just mass one units... its a wtf how the hell am I supposed to counter like 30-40 hydras or about 30 vikings. That when they transform make mincemeat out of my mmm build.

Hmm... Rax + reactor... marine rush I wonder if that would work...

I finished my Placement Matches yesterday and got stuck in the Copper.

I actually like playing against morons who mass produce one type of units - as long as I can produce enough counters I am usually all right. One of the recent matches I played against a guy who still mass produced Roaches when I had army full of Immortals and Colossi.

On the other hand I usually lose to mass Mutas (somehow never can get enough Phoenixes to counter) or MMM if it's timed well.

If I wasn't chosen for the beta when it first came out, is there no way for me to get an invite or something? I've been dying to play this game.

Don't try to counter mutas with phoenix. Use sentries, stalkers and throw down some cannons in your mineral line. The cannons will give you time to warp in more units or bring your army back to defend.

When you feel confident enough that you can protect your workers without your main army, (probably on 6-8gate + robo for observers) move out to attack. Simply forcefield wall in front of your army to get free shots on the lings (the only unit that zerg can afford at this point).

he's not talking about muta raiders. He's talking about his opponents entire army being nothing BUT mutas.

In that case a lot of what he says still applies. Forget about using protoss air units to counter mutas because that will never work. What should be happening is Sentries, Stalkers, High Templars (for psystorms) and Archons (extra damage against bio units with splash).

Sentries for guardian shield which will decrease damage done to you by the Mutas, Stalkers just cuz they're useful to have, High Templars to storm their super clumped up mutas, archons to splash their clumps. A good mix of that usually will destroy a zerg with nothing but mutas unless you micro really really badly or if the zerg is a pro at dodging you stuff.

EDIT: I played against 4 platinum players in a row. Lost all of them. All I got to say is, if you play against a platinum player, get ready to face a rush every single time. It's either zealot rush, zergling rush, or marine/reaper rush.

Wow, don't waste your gas on HTs. Storm is an awesome spell, don't get me wrong, but Mutas are way too fast for storm to be even remotely effective. If you're using storm, use it on something it'll actually do damage on (workers, lings, hydras). For mutas, definitely stalker-sentry, though phoenixes aren't COMPLETELY useless in that regard. They do extra damage vs Light, so they hit mutas pretty hard when they do.

Also, and this is a given- if you're using stalkers against mutas, blink is not optional. It is fucking required.

That being said, your best bet when dealing with mutas is to force them to stick around. Don't let them harass. Get into the zerg's base and force them to engage.

Okay. In sc2, its harder to aim spells at air units. You can't aim directly at them, but aim where the lines hit the ground beneath them. Sentries are definitely key against mass mutas if you're a tosser. The -2 damage from range attacks is applied to every single bounce, 9->7, 3->1, 1->0. Then taking to account both stalker/sentry armor, only the 1st attack actually damages you :). Do not bother using archons against mutas. They don't have splash(in sc2) and totally suck. Yes they have extra bio damage, but they're expensive as hell and just aren't worth it. Solly is right though,, forcing a confrontation is key against mutas. Also make sure you have enough scouting to keep the zerg from expanding too much. Mutas eat up a decent amount of gas, and massing them probably requires 2+ bases.

SC2 itself detects APM. I don't see why you need it?

Does it really? Never even bothered to look for it since I'm used to needing another program for it.

I had a stunning revelation last night. I honestly don't know what to do with myself now that I know. Apparently SCVs can repair Protoss mech units. I'm going to go think about what this means for my life.
