I'm looking for a timetravel fic that I read a long, long time ago. It involved the standard fare for time travel, but is notable for a few things. If I recall correctly, one of the first things Harry did was spring Sirius from Azkaban, and he became Harry's ward over the Dursleys. Sirius then found Lupin, and the two of them helped take care of Harry. I think they were living in Grimmauld Place, but I'm not sure.

Even more notable is the fact that Sirius managed to get his hands on all of the gifts that had been sent to Harry by well-wishers ever since he was a baby, but were diverted away for Harry's safety. There were a few dangerous things in there, naturally, but most of it was genuine and heartfelt. I think Sirius gave it all to Harry as a Christmas present after sorting the traps out with Lupin, but I'm not sure. He might have just given it to Harry when he first got it all.

It may also be worth noting that, if I recall correctly, the meddling Harry was doing to time was causing some sort of disruption in the actual flow of time itself. The story hadn't progressed to the point where a solid explanation had been given, but I seem to recall that at least one other person wound up being sent back as a direct result of Harry changing continuity. I think it might have been Hermione, but I'm not sure. The author also seemed to be implying that the major enemy was not going to be Voldemort, but a Tom Riddle that was temporally displaced similar to how Hermione was.

Does anyone happen to know what I'm talking about?

I don't think so. They seem similar superficially, but I seem to recall the one I read being much longer and more in-depth. It also wasn't utterly HHr centric like this one is.

I'm also almost completely positive that there was no random OC love interest for Sirius.

 

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that I know which story you're talking about (I'm pretty sure Harry is sorted into Hufflepuff in it, and he becomes friends with Neville & Hermione pre-Hogwarts as well.) but I can't for the life of me find it.

 

That's the one. Now that you mentioned it, he did get sorted into Hufflepuff. He put some thought into the decision as well. Their plan was to have friends in all the houses, so they could better unite them later on down the road, and so that they could serve as a working example that the houses are not innately incompatible with each other. If I recall correctly, Hermione was sorted into Ravenclaw, Neville into Slytherin, and Harry requested Hufflepuff.

 

This sounds terrible. Why do you want to read it?

 

Because it was decently well-written, and it amused me. Also, because I can't find it. That makes me want to read it more.

Nonsense. I want to read it no matter what. It's just that not being able to find it has made me want to read it even more.

Also, I've been poking around in other circles. A bunch of people seem to know exactly what I'm talking about, but they can neither find the story nor remember the name either.

Also, someone else from elsewhere pointed out another detail that I am very sure is correct:

The general gist being that it was Voldemort from Universe A who destabilized the timeline by going back in time and letting Ginny A die, thereby resurrecting Tom A.

And since Ginny A was in on the ritual that bumped Harry back in time, her death caused the entire continuity to begin to destabilize.

I'm pretty sure this is where the fic ran out, at least at the time I was reading it. So, to recap, Harry is now forced to deal with a colossal paradox that could potentially destabilize the entire HP continuity, and there are also two Voldemorts working together. Who can also time travel.

I must admit, at least part of the reason I want to find this fic again is because I want to know what the hell happens next. I'm holding out that there has been at least one chapter update between then and now. It's been at least two years, so if the fic isn't dead, there probably has been.

 

Seriously, way too many flaws in that idea for it to be any good. As I said before, this doesn't seem worth finding.

 

I vaguely remember reading this story too - but not the later parts you've described, and it's not on my alerts list, meaning that I stopped reading it. Meaning that it was crap, or at least became too crap to outweigh any entertainment value it may have possessed.

 

Most fic concepts and details sound stupid when stated factually in list format.

Or that it was deleted during the FF.net purges. Part of the reason I'm looking for the title is because I have the sneaking suspicion that it isn't on FF.net anymore, and want to see if it exists elsewhere.
