Wow...shame on me for forgetting Quietdrive. It's even in my CD changer, ffs....

    Also:

    Aimee Man "The Scientist" (Coldplay)

Corinne Bailey Rae "SexyBack" (Justin Timberlake)

    - Jamie Cullum did one, too (He's such a bro')

Jamie Cullum "Mrs. Robinson" (Simon & Garfunkel)

    Joss Stone "L-O-V-E" (Natalie Cole)

Aaliyah "At Your Best" (Isley Brothers)

    Alicia Keys "Rapture" (Blondie)

Ben Folds "Bitches Ain't Shit" (Dr. Dre)

    D'Angelo "Cruisin' " (Smokey Robinson)

Maxi Priest "Waiting In Vain" (Bob Marley)

Mutemath "Transformers" (Shut up. It counts and it's awesome. And how did such a fail movie get such a crucial soundtrack?)

    Ray LaMontagne "Crazy" (Gnarls Barkley)

    311 "Love Song" (The Cure)

i've got two more to add, both the same song, covered by different artists.

    Stripped by Drist
    Stripped by Rammstein

    original by depeche mode

also the only nirvana song worth a damn is a cover.
The Man Who Sold the World by Nirvana (original by David Bowie)

I favor Mr. Cash's cover of Rusty Cage (Soundgarden)

Also, Jeff Buckley's cover of Hallelujah, which was originally by Leonard Cohen

Much of the repertoire of the Brian Setzer Orchestra is covers, as is the whole of the Commitments soundtrack. Joe Jackson did a bunch of excellent big band covers for his album Joe Jackson's Jumpin' Jive.

speaking of... Anthrax 'Got the Time', originally by Joe Jackson

If we're going to include classical music in this, or at least orchestra music, then the Tour de Japon cover of Final Fantasy IX's Not Alone is awesome in every single way. Including the conductor. Especially the conductor. One Winged Angel also gets an honourable mention.

Secondly, a golden oldie from the young internet that pretty much everyone will recognise: Pachebel's Canon in D Major on electric guitar (Canon Rock).
