I searched and nothing came up so I assume that no one has brought this up, correct me if I'm wrong.

Has anyone seen this though? It is a brilliant movie, very weird though so anyone who doesn't particularly like weird thrillers shouldn't watch it.

Very good, the man that plays Snape in the Harry Potter movies is in it too.

So have any of you seen it? If so what did you think?

 

Alan motherfucking Rickman, not "The man that plays Snape."

 

Yes, I know I have watched other films of his. Other people however might like that fact since its a Harry Potter forum.

 

Please just assume we're intelligent enough to already know this.

 

Summary: Guy is born with an incredible sense of smell. He gets in the perfume business. Because he's a creepy fuck, he starts smelling women in a way that would make mknote proud. Then he kills a woman that caught him sniffing, so he stuffs her into a weird tank with other liquids and makes her part of his new scent.

You can picture where this goes, with the guy killing more and more women to make his perfumes. There's this woman who is perfect apparently; perfect smell, look and feel, everything the creep wants. So Alan Rickman warns her that the murderer would surely be after her and that she should be careful.

And that's about it in the trailer. It seems like a particularly twisted idea, an original premise, but too ridiculous to be taken seriously. I mean, really. A guy who makes perfumes out of girls? There is lulz, sure. But the suspense and horror is suspended by the sheer incredulity it brought out in me.


So no, don't like.

 

From that summary it sort of reminds me of a cross between the little shop of horrors and Sweeney Todd.

 

I can't speak for the film, but the book was much better than it sounds, IIRC. Been a while since I read it. Fucking weird ending though.

 

This, pretty much. It was actually a fairly awesome book. The movie, I haven't seen, but if it follows the books well enough, it has the possibility of being awesome...

 

Saw the film 2-3 years ago and It sucked. The acting was bad and the ending flat out weird. I liked Alan Rickman but hated the hero and Dustin Hoffman in the movie.

So ya,I am not going to rec this.
