So I wasn't doing anything much, and mostly watched the first episode of No Ordinary Family, mostly to see the lolzy antics of Vic Mackey and Darla as superheroes. It did not disappoint.

Most of you have probably seen at least one episode of Smallville before. They all have the same general (monster of the week) + (family/teenager drama) = (laughable train wreck) recipe that you might watch for the same reasons you would read a crack fic. No Ordinary Family takes this formula, and brings it to heights of absolute ridiculousness unseen ever before (or at least recently).

It isn't just like a crack fic, it somehow manages to be a crack fic of itself. You get the impression that the writers at first conceived something much more reasonable, but then decided to redo the whole script as a vehicle for some sort of drinking game! In fact, I'm almost certain that this show has potential to become an awesome drinking game for the viewers.

In any case, I'm eagerly awaiting the next episode, and I have great hopes for hilarity to ensue.

In all these things where someone discovers they have superpowers, why do they have to always fight crime? It's absurd. Can't we have at least one thing where someone discovers they have superpowers and doesn't fight crime with them? Or becomes evil?

How about using those powers to cheat and steal cookies from your local grocery store? That would be original.

I thought it was dull. Nothing caught my attention and nothing was original. Even the 'funny' parts were ripped off of something else. It doesn't even have the decency to parody the superhero genre in a new and interesting way.

All in all it felt like a campy take on Heroes.

I was let down by it. Julie Benz from Dexter put on a few pounds though and looked incredibly fuckable. The rest of it was pretty bad. You get super powers and rush to tell you lab intern who you barely know or acknowledge? As soon as I saw she was working for a global scientific organization I said they'll be evil.

And then the dad just happens to run into a super powered crook in the FIRST episode, who was a stoodge of the corp that mom works for? The learning disabled kid turns into a genius? It's a ghetto ass version of Fantastic Four, I was waiting for one to turn invisible and turn on fire.

Heroes fucked up with coincidences like this, it just got flat out unwatchable. Oh look the asian and mexican superheroes suddenly meet up with the australian and the canadian in the middle of Kansas while they're on a road trip going different directions, and the serial hero killer is there. Was just too much.

This show might do alright if it makes fun of the powers, but it seems like it's taking itself too seriously.

I just watched the pilot myself, and it was okay-ish. Nothing really grabbed me, but it has potential. Pilot eps are often rougher because the actors and writers are still trying to find their place.

The comments in this thread are all for the pilot. Now that we're 13 eps into it, how does the rest of the season stack up?

I havent watched pass episode 4. The whole thing was just forgettable and filled with a lot of comic book logic. They just happen to have close ties to the big bad? Really?
