From the guy who directed Watchmen and 300, we have a movie that looks to be breaking Warner Bros 'No Female Leads' rule. Starring Emily Browning (A Series Of Unfortunate Events, anyone?) it's set to come out next year. Who doesn't love a new girls-with-guns movie?

Is it just me, or does this look awesome?

It's either going to be really, really good, or really, really bad.

    Also, deja vu.

Aye, it's a great trailer. Snyder tends to be interesting at least, though having read and enjoyed the graphic novels, 300 was terribad and The Watchmen was massively disappointing.

With the escapism!angle I'm certain I'll hate every moment of the institutional reality parts and love every bit of the fantasy/action. It looks a bit like a cross between Shutter Island and Kill Bill. It's self written and self produced, which may well mean studios looked at the script and went 'gtfo', but the benefit of it being original is that he's not going to shit all over someone else's ideas for a change.

Hmm. IMDb informs me that it's a blind deal for Warner Brothers, and that doesn't always work well for them.

Honestly, it could go either way. I'm predicting at best a greatly enjoyable film that you'll forget as soon as you leave the cinema. But we shall see.

EDIT: Lol, ninja de ja vu while I was typing.

This looks pretty incredible. Whatever it may turn out to be in the end, at least it will have awesome eye candy.

Was that a giant samurai with a Gatling gun?
