This looks like a fairly okay setting. What are you going to do with it?

Just had a WTF story idea. Evil!Harry and his equally nefarious lover Bellatrix Black get a fun idea from the Horcrux that used to be in Harry's head: They can make a soul bond by putting partial horcruxes in each other's foreheads. They do this by raping and killing the Dursleys in a horrific orgy of violence.

    ...

    :awesome

Blame Shezza. I know I do.

And yeah, while it's interesting back story, it needs more meat. Ideas:

Harry P gains access to Dresden magic instead of, or as well as, HP magic.

Something involving the other creatures of the Dresdenverse, which presumably weren't affected by the death of Dresden wizards.

Interesting notion: The Gatekeeper's duties fall to the DoM.

@Celestin: I know I didn't actually drop a plot in it, but I am working on it and the plot comes from the setting in this case (I didn't get an idea and engineered a world from it, but have the idea of the world and will reverse-engineer the plot from it.) and when I have something more concrete I hope to share it.

@Taure: Yeah, creatures of the Nevernever will definitely play a part. I don't really see the point in Dresden magic because to me HP magic has always seemed much stronger and superior, which is also why the 'wand wizards' would be the ones to come out of history (Survival of the Fittest (inb4 ITS NOT WHOS STRONGER ITS WHO ADAPTS BETTER).)

I think I stole the true wizard, wand wizards distinction from Shezza. Meh, it works so whatever.

Ron gets the charm right, but dong's harry instead.
Hermione goes WTF and so does the troll, and then the troll decides that it thinks Ron is on it's side, and gets a bit randy at the pungent stench coming now from Ron's trousers.
He is used as a troll dildo.
Hermione freaks out and tries to escape but the troll uses her new dildo on Hermione too - breaking the poor girl in half.

Harry comes to, and goes WTF @ ron's head stuck up hermione's ass and levitates the club himself, and finally the troll get's whacked on the head just as the professors come in.

Ron survives, but is in a vegetative state for the rest of his life, in a bed in the same room as the Longbottoms.

A mutual visit causes H+N to become closer friends, and oh dear that's cliche
nevermind, nothing to see here, move along.

I think we should have "WTF Plot Bunny Thread" where people could post their sick ideas without making unsuspecting people read it.

I've always had an idea running around about the consequences of making wizards actually competent, but doing it with DF mythology, so to speak, is interesting. Also, lulz horcrux soul bond. I was going to post that here when you posted in For Review, but I guess...

    Hmm...random thoughts;

In canon, it seems that Harry has some sort of prophetic ability when it comes to dreams and visions.

    http://www.hplex.info/wizworld/dreams.html

It seems, like Voldemort passing Parseltongue onto him from the failed killing curse and the double edged benefits of the "Brother Wand" effect, that Fate is also giving him indirect help here, too. Heck, maybe Harry being a powerful wizard was also another one of Fate's manipulations due to the Prophecy's required fulfillment.

    So...

    A. Fate (either personified like many do with Death as the Grim Reaper or having it represented by an eerie, omnipresent, semi-sentient force of nature) decides to give Harry a bigger hand, somehow, ultimately forcing Harry to become something very different from what was seen in canon; either good or bad. As long as the Prophecy is fulfilled, Fate wouldn't give two shits what happens to Harry. This could end up with Harry becoming someone or something worse than Voldemort. Probably another Destiny being given to another up and coming hero to kill Harry as he originally did Voldemort.

    B. A deity from another religion, perhaps the Norse pantheon, decides to subvert Harry and his destiny for their own goals, eg, Loki ensuring that while he does defeat Voldemort as decreed by the Norns, he also releases Fenrir and starts Ragnarock, somehow breaking the Loom of Fate. After realizing what he's done, Harry has to stop it somehow.

    C. Various Gods from around the world take an interest in Harry, often conflicting with one another behind the scenes, because of his connection with Fate and the Prophecy (which takes precedence over any divine entity), and in his path to fulfilling it, he indirectly and unknowingly accomplishes goals that would be beneficial to that God/pantheon in question. Sort of like a web composed of intricate Dumbledore 'Greater Good' type plots.

It also gives a reason for the Dursleys treating him like shit.

Not that they need one, but if you constantly felt some kind of foreboding sensation whenever you got around someone, and you were essentially being forced to be around them all the time...

It would be a bit like animals acting strange before a storm or an earthquake, "We don't know why we can't stand you, but you make us feel nervous and threatened, and we Can't Fucking Stand You!"

Wait... How is that any different from canon? I imagine they didn't like him much to begin with, because of Vernon and Petunia's personal grudges, but what pushed them over the edge probably was accidental magic that hurt Dudley. How the hell would you raise a kid with an unstable power that could very well kill you at any moment if you're unlucky and he has a tantrum? Magic is very clearly linked to emotion, and a kid flipping his shit has tons of emotion. This problem is actually shared by all families with a First Gen magic user.

Come to think of it, the whole HP system for handling mugglborns/muggleraised is fucked up beyond all reason. It's actually rather telling of the society that they didn't even spare a thought for the parents, or the siblings of the muggleborns.

I wouldn't go that far. Since the only muggle-born we really see much of is Hermione (and we really aren't told much about her home life) there's no way to know how these things usually work out. And Hermione doesn't have siblings, of course. :/

Well, we know that the ministry don't interfere at all until the child gets their Hogwarts letter, which is absolutely retarded because they can obviously detect accidental magic.

True. There is very little information on how this aspect of wizarding life is handled, however, what little info there is doesn't leave me feeling all too charitable towards the Ministry.

We actually don't know that. It is kind of the assumption we make because we equate Harry's experience (as the Everyman Protagonist) with the average new inductee to the Wizarding world's experience. Given how Hermione acted on the train in PS, that very well might not be the case at all.

Except that, if memory serves, she says something about being a witch/finding out about magic/her receiving her Hogwarts letter coming/or whatever as 'ever such a surprise.'

Unless obliviations are used; can't be surprised if you have the memories of your kid blowing up Main Street via accidental magic, can you?

Except we don't know if Hermione finding out she was a witch and getting her Hogwarts letter actually occurred at the same time. It is certainly implied by her statement, but we don't really have any hard evidence either way.

@Ichor: Do you realize how utterly fucked up that sort of situation could get? I'm quite certain the obliviators are brought in for serious uses of accidental magic, but just imagine if some kid destroyed a building, killing a street full of people when he had a meltdown. Obliviators come in, mod the memories of the survivors, including the kid and surviving parent. It becomes a gas explosion, a tragedy, and new safety features are promised by muggle government. Years later the kid becomes an obliviator, only to find out that he caused all of these deaths (including the death of one of his parents), and the Ministry doesn't care enough about all of those dead people to change how they handle muggleborn magic users?

What's more- I could almost guarantee that Obliviators are mostly made up of muggle-borns, as they can best tell what a muggle should see instead of what they did. If the Obliviators were mostly purebloods, as unknowing about muggle matters as most are presented, the Statute of Secrecy would have fallen a century ago.

I have to say though- it seems like the 20th century is what has the magicals flummoxed. Anything up until the first World War isn't a stretch for them, but they got lost somewhere around the advent of television and refrigerators.

Here's a sneaky little plot bunny- maybe magical society has a taboo about plastics...

I think everyone's vastly overestimating how strong accidental magic is. Every time it's discussed in canon it's almost universally little things; changing hair color/length, levitating toys, etc.

Using Harry as an example, he's got clear problems controlling his emotions, he gets in moods and lashes out not infrequently. He's also got a family who at best mistreats, denigrates and mocks him, a situation that gives rise to severe emotional swings. But the most 'damage' he ever does with accidental magic is to vanish a glass wall and make his aunt expand and float.

I can't even think of a canon spell that would make an entire building explode. The only time something remotely similar is suggested in canon is Pettigrew situation, and its strongly hinted at that what he actually did is target a gas line. So I have problems believing that a child's accidental magic is strong enough to do what adult, trained wizards can't do with a spell.

She also says she tried out a few spells, supposedly without ramifications from the Ministry.
