Having spent most of today listening to lectures on reliability and designing assembly machines, I now fear lawsuits. Seriously, if all you're going to put between yourself and repo is a flimsy shield, some probabilities of failure and a manual (which will never be read), then why bother?

Then again, in my opinion mech eng is infinitely better than any other eng. And that's simply because I love it ;P

 

I prefer to call it "maximizing efficiency"... Let's face it: Lazy fuckers make the best engineers, because we're always going to look for an easier way to do X, Y and Z. "Repetitive bullshit, what? Let's make a routine in this CAD program to do that mindless tripe. <beep beep, zip, bang> There now, time for a long liquid lunch."

YMMV, but I'm a civil engineer and I'll say this: When I went to a job interview last year and the prospective employer asked me for an example of some project I'd done, I said, "You know [xx parkway] down in [local very wealthy town]? The 4-lane, raised-median, curb-and-gutter boulevard with the meandering pedestrian path and the ponds and overlooks? The one passing in front of the new Nissan North America HQ? Yeah? I designed and then oversaw construction of that."

Was offered the job the next day.

I hate CAD, it's much easier to just draw what you want because being a design engineer is awesome.:awesome
