Works best when you blink actually. Stare at the red dot, then look at the wall and blink. The face will actually light-up on the wall every time you blink.

I saw that instantly, I didn't have to look at the red dot for 10 seconds. -_-

 

When you stare at the image long enough, keeping your eyes in the same place - that's what the dot is for - the reverse of the image stays briefly on your retinas, so when you look away you'll see trollface blocking the way.

Try staring at it for half a minute/a minute, make sure you look away to something light, and blink rapidly to keep seeing it.

 

Sounds like way too much effort for way too little reward. :/

Regarding the trollface illusion, I ignored it at first, considering it had a trollface on it the likeliness of it not working for an hour and then you being faced with a trollface and realizing that you have been trolled was high...
