Ever found a band or song that is pretty freaking beautiful that not many people have heard of? Or do you know someone personally (who is actually good) who deserves a wider fanbase than his/her mum? Then go ahead and post a recommendation here and show off how indie DLP is.

Here is a hipster/HP meme for all the people on this forum who don't get sarcasm and may just think I'm serious when I talk about indie-ness :facepalm

I'm making this thread simply because I found a pretty freaking beautiful combination of NIN and the Beatles here and wanted to share it with the world but I couldn't find a thread that it could possibly fit into.

Also, this section of the forum is supposed to be about Music, Movies and TV Shows but don't see a hell of a lot of music here so I am rectifying this error.

If you have a song that you've written or a cover or a remix or whatever that you're proud of post that too.

We've got people from all over the world here with heaps of different skills sets, from writing to nuclear physics (I'm pretty sure that's what Pers does... not too sure though) to just being an asshole there must be people here who are musicians as well as fanfic readers.

EDIT:Took a bit of muddling through the site (which was in French of which I have the comprehension of your average emu) and I found the download link for "Come Closer" the Beatles/NIN love child up tharr here.

It's funny. I have been thinking about making a topic for music recommendations but have been too lazy. I may not quite adhere to Sacro's parameters as such. I'm no musician. Rather than make a separate topic for simple music recommendations, I'll just do it here. (Unless that is part of the point of this topic and my tired mind (it's almost 1am) can't comprehend Sacro's post properly.)

Please excuse any gushing that may or may not follow in any subsequent posts in this thread.

    ---

The Besnard Lakes are a Canadian shoegaze-ish band, and are one of my favourite bands at the moment. Saw them live a few months back and they were amazing. Only second to the first time I saw Porcupine Tree. Definitely better live than on record.

There are three albums presently. The first one is rather rough, as if the band didn't quite know what they wanted their sound to be like yet, but the second two are amazing from start to finish.

I never really know how to describe a band. But if you have a few minutes, give a song a try. I promise no moronic links.

    Here's a taste: Disaster

And a second, poppier track: Albatross

Come Closer's been a favourite of mine since the first time I listened to it. DJ Zebra has other good stuff, but this one's the best, hands down.

Will come back when I think of something.

EDIT : Alright, I got something that may interest some of you.

Let me introduce Wax Tailor, another French DJ.

He makes crazy songs, sometimes with vocals, sometimes instrumental, sometimes with pieces of movie dialogue.

Here a few songs in different styles :

    Our Dance (feat. Charlotte Savary)

    Hypnosis Theme (feat. Marina Quaisse)

    Positively Inclined (feat. ASM)

    Awesome stuff.

EDIT 2 : Listened to the Besnard Lakes songs. Albatross did nothing for me, but I quite like Disaster. I like my arrangements a bit 'cleaner', though, and I found the guitar and strings a bit jarring at times (intended, I think, but a bit overdone). Nice find, though.

Not going to necro it. So, instead, very relevant:

I really enjoyed the theme song of the TV Show Hung by Los Angeles Resource Project, unfortunately the band has only really done one good song but that's more than many bands can say.

It's an in-fucking-credible mix. I wish there were more DJ's with his ability, at least in this mix.

Sadly, I don't rate his other mixes so highly.
