Pretty much of all the HP stories I've read has the death of the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets. I can only think of 2 on the top of my head that don't but you never hear from it again afterword. Does anyone know any fics that have Harry communicating/controlling it, or even having it survive?

 

It's usually done in timetravelling stories. I forget the name of the one that comes to mind, but I remember the basilisk burrowing tunnels underground, and Aragog fighting Voldemort's undead dragon. Now that I think of it, I think it was a story with a lot of fail necromancy. Anyways... not even sure why I replied to this thread.

The Meaning of the Name actually was one of the 2 stories that I thought of in my first post, haha.

Basilisk Rising part one is okay, it has alot of spelling mistakes that need fixing though. I appreciate it Portus. Are there any more fics that have the Basilisk surviving? It seems like a waste of plot to me.

 

What the fuck was that. I just read chapter two of Basilisk Rising. Harry gets tongue raped by the basilisk. To clarify, a giant snake. WHAT IS THIS I DONT EVEN

Edit: Whoops, there is a great big warning that I missed. Its still utterly horrific though.

Edit 2: Basilisk Rising part 1 has to be the worst fic ever written. This must be a parody. The unintentional laughs are so common, it can't not be fake.

I'm not sure how anyone actually made it past the first paragraph. You know, the one at the very top of the first page that says "This story contains copious amounts of homosexual bestiality. This means, lots of weird looking penises, kink, and possible tentacle fucking. This is PORN WITH A PLOT! BE WARNED!"

 

Because I'm so used to skipping pointless disclaimers that I haven't read one in years? Too many fics use the opportunity to tell a fucking horrendously bad joke, and it puts me off. I find I go into a fic with a better mindset if I don't read them.

That said, I think I'll start, if they ever prevent me from reading something like this again.

 

Bad joke? Most disclaimers I read like to have their life story crammed in there.

The only fics I've ever read with the Basilisk living is with Harry going back in time, and saying how Tom Riddle's blood isn't pure, which makes me lol, since he can hardly talk.

 

This, so much. Then again, I am half guilty on the life story count myself.

Never again will I skip one. My brain will not allow it.

 

Harry Potter and the Sorting Hat's Gift has the Basilisk as a very important character, but it's really just a shitty WBWL fic with randomness like fairies grafted onto it.

It's barely on the cusp of readable, a 2 or a 2.5/5, with all the cliches like Manipulative!Dumbledore, and a lot of it seems to be a pretty blatant rip-off from the Sacrifices Arc. Still, a couple lines actually made me laugh, and I guess it's better than nothing. I didn't go on to read the sequel, though.

 

Sounds pretty shitty to me. Most WBWL stories have Harry being abused/mistreated by his stupid parents. Only one that's prominent that doesn't have that crap is the one in the Authors section here.
