I'm basically looking for a story that has a spell casting concept that I can only vaguely recall. From what I remember, adding specific word/phrase to the end (or beginning) of an incantation which either somehow changes the nature of the spell or just how the caster uses it.

It's possible that this story is in the WbA section but I'm not sure. Any help?

 

A bit more descriptive? Most spells are based on what the latin phrase is, you need to clarify a bit more as that is very, very vague...

 

It was basically a single word which could be added on to any or most incantations which allowed a specific effect to occur.

E.g. Stupefy would fire a stunner, Stupefy Abra would fire a stunner whilst allowing the caster full control of the direction. Then you could Reducto Abra, Confrigo Abra which would keep the nature of the spell the same but gives control of the direction.

I'm not even entirely sure if that concept was explained in the actual story or in a comment by the author. Frustrating as hell.

 

Was this a story where Harry became friends with Padma, who taught him how to place a Silencing Charm on only his feet while they were playing hide-and-seek? I think he might have also joined her in a Charms group. I don't actually recall what story this was, but extra details might help someone else recognize it.

The problem is that there are probably multiple stories with the same concept. I've definitely read at least one, but I don't remember any titles, sorry.

Rustlings in the Dark. Probably not the story knight504 was looking for though. It's a Fourth Year Harry/Padma fic. Harry befriends a lot of Ravenclaws, joins the Charms Club and does some other stuff. Don't really remember much, but I think I liked it at the time. It's been dead since '09 though.

 

Sadly, not what I'm looking for. I think I'll just raid the WbA section at some point.
