Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Will Rodman is working on a cure for Alzheimer's by performing tests on apes. The first test subject is Caesar; it genetically modifies his way of thinking to create a new breed of ape with human intelligence. Caesar learns well, but human authority continues to test him and contain him. He eventually proves smart enough to break free from his cage and release the cure among other apes. Millions of apes begin to rally up a revolution. War breaks out between humans and apes. Rodman may be the only one able to stop them before the ape revolution succeeds.

It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes series that will act as a foundation with an origin story for a new film series.

Well they can't do worse than Tim Burton.

 

I keep forgetting he did one. It's so un-Burtony.

As for this one - in original movies apes were already everywhere before their rise. In a new one it seems they will spread from one place. It's a little hard to believe that humans couldn't take care of them before they become a real danger, but we will see how it'll be showed in the movie.

Yeah, fuck this shit. If only because I'm pretty sure there aren't enough apes to fill North Dakota, let alone the world. God I wish Hollywood would stop raping my childhood.

Just watched it. Its a good take on the story. Far from perfect but still good.

 

It was actually pretty damn good. Watch it for Caesar if nothing else, he was great.

 

I'd agree; the sections focussing on the humans were fairly standard stuff, but the ape bits were fantastic. Shame Tom Felton appears to default to Draco Malfoy though.

Card is such an arrogant douche. He considers the movie a successful adaptation of Ender's Game... Really now?

 

Wow. I've only read Enders Game, and had no further contact with Card or his books, so I've never quite understood the dislike for him in some quarters. I kinda do now.
