Searched and couldn't find a thread for this, so making one now.

Anyway, I saw Transformers 3 yesterday, and found it to be a fairly entertaining movie. After the less than impressive second film my expectations weren't too high, so I was pleasantly surprised when the movie actually turned out to be pretty good. The problems that really plagued Transformers 2, like too much bad humor padding, are seriously toned down, and Micheal Bay plays to his strengths by including a lot more stuff blowing up.

It also helped that this movie has a much darker and more serious plot; if not for keeping the carnage mostly bloodless, it could easily have hit the level of an R-rated war movie.

Saw it on wednesday, my 1st thought once the movie was over was 'it ran too long'. Yes it was better than 2 but the same problems of all the Transformer Movies. Too much time spent on the human element rather than machines fighting machines.

I'm sorry but Michael Bay needs to just stop it. He has never made a good movie, he just exploits people's fascination with what is essentially action-porn.

People just need to stop supporting that talentless hack.

Eh, I liked it. It was better than I expected, it was also longer, but it deserved the 12$ I paid to see it.

I liked Michael Bay movies, Armageddon is still one of my favorite movies, Transformers 3 was the least funny of all the Transformer movies but it was okay. I didn't mind the lack of Megan Fox, her stand-in filled her role perfectly.

The one thing I hated about this movie was : Shia LaBeouf . Srsly, in the other two movies he at least had a purpose, in this one he was as useless as MeganFox2 .

Maybe it was the audience I saw it with, maybe it was the fact I saw it in 3d, maybe it was because it was the start of the long weekend...

    But I found it :awesome.

To give you an idea of what we thought of it, the audience at the end gave a standing ovation. I'm being completely serious. Not just one or two guys, but a packed theatre did it.

Quite a few moments pulled a few rounds of laughter from everyone.

My only complaint is of the female lead. I still think they could have got some one less, whats the word, Ugo.

That and her role is just as pointless as I thought it would be, atleast megan fox got some things to do, but no shitting you, she stood around most of the movie looking like she was posing for the camera rather than doing anything interesting.

Don't get me wrong, certain shots of her were legitemately hot, but then you look at her face and it all goes to hell. Those 3d lips made my head hurt.

Oh and another thing. Don't see this in 3d, its fucking awesome but the sheer length of this movie will turn your brain to mush near the end behind those glasses.

Saw it yesterday. The movie was to long and too much screen time was wasted on Shia LaBeouf "life problems" instead on robots. The 3D was non existent, the characters were caricatures of archetypes, Megatron was a fucking hobo and the entire movie was even a bigger wank over American Army than the last one.
And the endgame was a clear rip-off form Doctor Who End of Time special it wasn't funny.
If you want you can go to see it, but I recommend to watch the trailer ten times while listening to Optimus Prime speeches about freedom - you get all the good parts without wasting any money.

Got to ask, what do you mean the 3d is non existent?

Even though I will reiterate that watching this movie in 3d is a bad idea considering the length, I still found the 3d to be decent. It wasn't like they pandered scenes to 3d. There were no obvious stabbing in the camera motions that are gimmicky.

It was stereoscopic 3d, it was as good as any other 3d movie. What makes something a good 3d movie to you?

Cause the less I notice the 3d, and I enjoy the movie the better in my mind.

Also end of time reference? Did not see it and I definetly watched that episode.

Saw it the day before yesterday. Not good imo. Especially with the 3-D. There was an odd dullness in the colors, which made my head hurt. That, plus there was nothing in the movie which was new. And this time, they even forgot to 'focus' on a trasformation, which was always my favorite part of the movies. Story was at least a little engaging this time, only because of the few human involvements, other than the army, that is.

Aside from that, the only part that looked good in 3-D was a scene in which the troops jump down a parachute/glider/batman's robe and fly into the city.

Teleporting Gallifrey over Earth in Doctor Who = teleporting Cybertron over Earth in Transformers
And I like to notice the 3D effects. I like when something flies at the camera and sometimes make you head dizzy.

But there is more important question. How much did the producers pay John Malkovich to appear in this shit?

Horrible. Absolutely horrible movie. I enjoyed some of the 3d stuff but nothing else besides that. Lets see, the plot was really bad, they were just trying to get the lebouf kid involved somehow and it was actually kind of sad to see. It was pure mindless action. If not for the 3d, I would literally have gone to sleep.

Damn it Michael Bay. Transformers is not about the meatbags, stop making your movies about the meatbags. Christ.

I didn't hate this movie as much as 2, but it still kinda annoyed me.

Megan Fox had two or three references, with her dumping him? Wasn't she saying how she loved him when he was dying like six months previously or whatever?

The main and probably only thing I really enjoyed? A good guy being ruthless, Optimus at the end.

Carly is the girl everyone likes, and convinced Megatron to help Optimus, she just screamed mary-sue to me...

    3d was good though.

"We discovered an alien race together."

"Yeah, how long are you gonna be riding that scooter?" Don't laugh at me if I got it wrong.

Quote from Transformers 2. At the beginning of Dark of the Moon, he is sort of a bum. After all the action and hero acts blew over, I might be able to see her getting bored of him. Not a very believable explanation, but meh. What are you gonna do?

She didn't convince him to help Optimus. She brought to light the fact that his dumb ass was gonna get dumped as soon as he was no longer useful.

I'd like to think there's a significant difference.

    Just saw it tonight.

It had potential. If they had cut out all the bullshit Michael Bay humor, the ridiculous cameos, and a bunch of the subplots (Sam's parents should not have been in the movie at all) it actually could have been a good movie.

I wish they had taken it in the direction that they took the new batman franchise. This movie definitely had the potential to be a dark, grim action film - the excess just killed it for me.

It's the same crap as all the rest. The humans are still the main characters, Bay is still sucking up to the army, the writing is still horrible, and of course the transformers are still basically sidekicks to the army.

I still find it funny how there is absolutely no connecting plot points between the three movies. In the first one we have the decepticons looking for Megatron and the All spark so they could rebuild their world. Second movie they want to blow up the sun so they can make more robots because their fuel is in there. Third movie its the space bridge and the enslavement of the human race to rebuild Cybertron....wtf?

Yes I am completely ignoring the idea that the decepticons have always been there and have been working in conjuncture with the government. I don't even want to consider the bullshit that brings up.

Haha, so true. Half-way through the movie, I was hoping it would be over soon.

Though I disagree - in my opinion, there was too much machine fighting machines and it gets boring. Well, perhaps that's because I haven't watched the second movie and I didn't really care - not understand more than Decepticons = bad dudes and Optimus & Co. = good dudes.

I liked how 'Derek Shepherd' appeared in the movie - took me by surprise. On the other side, his ending was lame - from a somewhat intelligent person who prefers to allies with the winning side, he becomes a mindless villain. Megan Fox was a stupid bitch. And she's not all that great/hot anymore lately. That's my main impressions of the movie - it was still nice watching it.

    I'd give this movie a 3/5.

Technically there is a bit more to it than that, but that is the general gist of it.

You didn't miss much, best part of that movie was the five to ten minutes Optimus ripped the decepticons a new one on his own. Oh, and he kind of beat the shit out of Megatron and Starscream with Starscream's own arm.

I actually thought Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was pretty hot. Especially in those glasses... those lips... She seems to have some kind of magical powers too, judging from the way she kept her hair, make up and clothes absolutely perfect while jumping out of buildings, being shot at, and having Chicago blown up around her.

    But. Moving on.

Saw this yesterday. I felt like the first 60 minutes were the actual movie, and the rest was a 90 minute montage of CGI action porn and motivational speeches about freedom. I imagine Michael Bay sitting down at a table with the writers and saying, "All right guys, let's get all the boring crap out of the way at the beginning so we can get to the good shit."

The Decepticons irritated me the most. They are seriously the most incompetent bad guys ever.

Apparently super-advanced alien targeting systems aren't enough to let them actually aim properly. Apparently their space armor isn't enough to withstand bullets. Apparently their super-sensitive robot ears aren't sensitive enough to hear Shia whispering "Don't... move" while hiding behind a pillar three feet away. Apparently once they have their enemy cornered in an abandoned office building they can't just blow the whole thing up and be done with it. Apparently the teleportation pillars have to have a central control pillar, conveniently left outside so it can be deactivated, instead of, I dunno, being controlled by radio. Apparently an entire army of thousands of them can be wiped out by a handful of Autobots and some humans.

In short, here is the real reason to see this movie:

I need an action figure of this man.
