Well... this is rather embarrassing. I fancy myself a canon buff, and here I go forgetting where important scenes are. Or, even worse, possibly substituting fanfiction scenes into canon (though I doubt this is the case).

Where exactly does Dumbledore put Harry through the wringer about the prophecy, leading him to the conclusion that it's basically irrelevant because he would have done it anyways?

It's not at the end of the fifth book, so it must be in the sixth book.. and yet I can't think of where.

Of course, this could be a pipe dream, but there are some fairly vivid recollections of this, so... argh.

 

Near the end of the sixth book, I believe. I want to say it's the last memory-viewing before Harry gets the full memory from Slughorn.

It's one of my favorite parts of the series, as it put all manipulative Dumbledore stories out to pasture for good IMO.

 

It also, frankly, put out all the pussy-oh-I-don't-want-to-be-a-murderer!Harry stories out too, so I better get working on that one-shot.

 

Doesn't stop 'tards writing them, though.
