So, I've recently watched this series right through during the last month or so and was wondering who else watches it?

I enjoy the quotes at the beginning and end depending on what the episode is about and the analysis of the criminals is also enjoyable compared to most crime shows.

My favorite character has to be Derek, he's the more "out in the field" type... I'm a bit annoyed at how they have portrayed Hotch and JJ during the last season though.

It's a very enjoyable show and very easy to get into. :)

    Yeah, I've watched them all.

Best episode has to be where
the Reaper takes Hotch's family, kills his wife
. I could not sit down for that entire episode, and the fight between Hotch/Reaper was epic.

The most recent season was easily the worst.

Glad next season is bringing back JJ and giving Seaver the boot.

    Could do with less Garcia.

I catch reruns when I can, and the best episodes I've seen were the Reaper and Raphael episodes. The structure of the show is like X-Files, which was one of my favorite shows.

As far as the characters go,I like the men on the show well enough, but this is also one of the few shows where I fall into the girl/slasher trap of hating every female lead without cause. They just bug the hell out of me. Especially Garcia, she's just awful, but for some reason fandom adores her.

The show had a lot great episodes but these are the most memorizable for me.

Episode 2.13, No Way Out with Gideon and K. Carradine as the serial killer. That's the best episode I've ever seen in the series. Keith is so chilling when he sucks on his milk shake that it hurts watching it. The cinematic and script work was beyond the normal style of the show.
The resolution to this episode was in 2.23 where you can feel with Gideon's fear. Too bad the end wasn't really great as I wanted to see more from Keith.

Episode 2.21, Open Season was pretty good too where 2 brothers hunt humans for fun in Idaho. It had some really weird atmosphere.

Episode 3.8 Lucky, The shocking end really gets you by surprise.

Episode 4.25 To Hell...And Back, the episode was inspired by this canadian serial killer case. The double episode itself hit me not really because of the plot but because of the graphic nature and that the pig farm scenario was pretty close to the real case. This was really a horror film transported into TV episode format.

Some episode's atmospheres have a lot in common with xfiles but rarely does Criminal Minds match xfiles's cinematic quality. Criminal Minds is sometimes too formulaic how it tells its stories. When they break their routine it results into their best episodes imho. Episode 4.17 Demonology could have been a XFiles script though and was Prentiss's best episode.

I like JJ a lot because she's the glue to the whole team and the actor plays her in a mellow way that I enjoy watching her. Garcia gets too annoying for me and I generally dislike these hacker cliche roles as they have not much in common with reality. Prentiss's problem is that they rarely give the actor a chance to shine as she's mostly limited to be a sidekick. Elle had more personality imho but the actor wasn't always convincing.

Those are some good ones, yeah. Gideon was a champ - the episode where he interrogates the terrorist in Gitmo, playing a long game, is awesome. A close second to the Hotch/Reaper culmination.

I can't recommend that episode enough. It was the show's episode 100, and never in television history has a man had greater cause to

    beat another man to death
. It was stunningly brilliant, as Hotch is often the calm centre of the team.

I used to watch it when I could get the DVDs for loan on the cheap, and it had some great episodes. Keith Carradine was awesome, it was too bad they made him kinda pathetic in his follow-up performances.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found the tech annoying, it seems to be a problem for me I guess, the chick on NCIS was annoying to me too. Too much trying too hard and not enough of the witty dialogue they're aiming for.

I was kinda glad she got shot.

IDK about Hotch. I always hated him, he was always so...bland. I know it was deliberate but still.

It's a good show,I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it,since it is highly episodic, but as long as my dad has a huge addiction to cop shows and I could get them super cheap from other sources I won't have to.

This x 1000. I felt so fucking bad for Hotch though, when
he's on the phone with his ex-wife and they both know she's about to die, and yet there's nothing they can do to change it.

And yeah, he's usually the calm, cool, collected one, but for that totally justifiable exception.

Fuck yeah, that episode is one of my favorites. Just letting that guy blather on, and then BAM, he's played for a fool. There are a ton of awesome Gideon moments, not least of which is when
the bomber dude tells him to cut one wire and he tells the bomb tech to cut the other one, having figured out that the bomber was lying.
Can't recall what episode that was, though. NVM, it was episode 1.03.

The show really took a hit though, when Inigo Montoya Mandy Patinkin left, IMHO. Yes, they overplayed his "cool genius" factor many times, but he was miles better than what's-his-name that plays Rossi.

My wife just wants to mother that skinny kid. And she likes to stare at Morgan, though I think his head is shaped too funny to make the bald thing work.

We used to watch it all the time, but once Gideon left and Prentiss came on, not so much. I was pretty bummed out when the Elle character left - she was fucking hot. Sure, the J.J. chick is smokin' too, but Elle was just fucking sexy. Not a great actress, but her dimples went a long way toward easing the pain...

I understand the hate for Garcia, but as I'm not a techie, I can live with it. The character is one-dimensional and annoying, but she doesn't make me rage like Rossi. Seriously, Kaw-Liga is less wooden than that dude.

I especially liked episodes 3.19 and 4.01, where the twist about
the terrorists trying to blow up a hospital
    was unexpected, especially after
Hotch and the FBI chick got blown up in their SUV.
    Very tense stuff.

Still, I'd have to say my favorite episode is 3.14 (or 3.15? was listed as that, too), where one part of the plot involves
Hotch and Reid going to interview the death-row serial killer and getting locked in with him.
There are two awesome parts to that and I can't decide which is my favorite of the two.
First is the serial killer telling the two of them that he's going to kill them while the guards are occupied elsewhere, and Hotch, cool as a cucumber, takes off his suit coat and rolls up his sleeves. He's in the middle of his wife divorcing him and all I could think was how much of an ass-kicking he was about to dish out. The second part is how Reid, who wants no part of a fight, especially as part of this murderer and Hotch throwing down, proceeds to masterfully mind-fuck the serial killer.
If you've seen it, you know exactly what I mean. Just brilliantly done.

The most unintentionally funny episode is 4.08, where the antagonist is none other than
    George Costanza.
I was like WTF? the whole time, even though he actually did a good job as the villain.

So yeah, the show has had some real high pints, but as with any TV show, you gotta suspend disbelief an awful lot. Glad to hear J.J. is coming back; maybe we'll start watching again.

And fuck you guys for guilting me into looking up the actual episode numbers.
