That's laughable. The only people Danzo can take something from, are dead people. And Shisui wasn't dead.

How are we supposed to believe that Shisui, who seemed to be a genjutsu god and Itachi's equal was somehow taken in by Danzo of all people.

 

My first thought was also that Shisui was a member of Root. If Itachi was taught his "protect the village at all costs" mentality by Shisui, it would make a lot of sense since that's also sort of Danzou's philosophy.

Danzou would have had to learn about Izanagi and all the Uchiha lore from somebody, so it makes sense that he's had at least a few members of the Uchiha clan in his Root division. There's no reason why Shisui couldn't have been a double agent of Root.

 

Kakashi didn't actually kill his best friend (I'm assuming Obito) for his MS. I reckon unlocking it requires a feeling of personal guilt over the death of a friend, and Itachi only told Sasuke he had to kill his best friend to get MS as sugar on top of his mindfuck cake.

Pretty much the only mistake Itachi has made in all his convoluted plotting is driving Sasuke too far into madness. I'm sure he now realises in retrospect that multiple psychological torture sessions lasting several days were just a little excessive.

Also, Shisui raises a lot of questions. Why did someone known for his phenomenal speed and massively overpowered Sharingan just let himself get surgically blinded and then submit to death? I have a feeling he knew something about Madara that we don't yet, and he and Itachi made plans long ago. But maybe I'm readng too much into it. That would be a lot of backstory to cover.

Anyway, this chapter was awesome. I have a feeling that Killer Bee is gonna kick the bucket pretty soon, though, probably against Nagato (who is all kinds of cool right now). I'm not sure what purpose it would serve, but I'd like for Naruto and Nagato to learn that they are fellow Uzumaki clansmen.

Anyhow, the manga is finally looking good again. I hope the next chapters don't fail abysmally.

 

I have an idea, it fits all the stuff, but it's a bit of a stretch.

Shisui was in root. He did that whole graduation thing where you had to fight the group to kill your emotions like Sai did, his best friend was whoever he killed last, so when he killed his emotions, he killed his best friend, getting the Mangekyo... Yeah, I'm half asleep.

 

It's pretty clear at this point that killing your best friend is not how you awaken the MS. I think it has much more to do with emotional stress or loss than the act itself.

After all, Kakashi didn't kill Obito, yet was still able to awaken it. Presumably Madara and Izuna didn't kill their best friends to gain their own, since they were leaders of the clan and wouldn't want that stigma following them around. Sasuke didn't actually kill Itachi, and we now know that Itachi didn't kill Shisui in cold blood. If Itachi was the one to deliver the killing blow, it was only because Shisui asked him to.

While Shisui was possibly in Root, he most certainly was not subject to the kind of conditioning that Sai was. After all, he was a well-known ninja in the world so he must have gone on many missions under his own guise and not as one of the faceless Root members we see in Part 2. He would also need to be able to deceive the Uchiha clan like Itachi was able to, and he wouldn't have been able to accomplish this as an emotionless pawn of Danzou.

 

It is my opinion that Shisui, with his 'nindo', worked with Danzo to preserve the sanctity of Konoha, and, after Danzo discovered his masterful illusions, he had him sedated - or whatever - and took his eye. Or something like that,

 

Itachi really is one terrifying son of a shit bitch in my opinion. To have planned this far in advance and pull this shit out of his ass that the No one is expecting. To me have this is just more proof of Itachi's dominance.

Personally im hoping Kabuto decides he has to get rid of Itachi before Naruto and we get the battle of eyes Nagato vs Itachi.

 

Anyone else notice that most of Itachi's plans involve mind-screwing Sasuke in one form or another?

Genius in all respects, but throwing psychological torture and torture at your brother in order to get them to defend your home? Then having a final mind-screw in place just in case the torture doesn't work?

What made it a good plan in the first place, is what I'm wondering.

 

Yeah if Sasuke finds out Itachi's planned on using the Genjutsu to get him to fight for Konoha he may be a bit pist.

From this chapter I can sort of see where the Uchiha clan was coming from about the rebellion. We only knew previously that Itachi was the strongest Uchiha, with others presumably being far behind him, now we have another powerhouse Uchiha who is refered to as the greatest genjutsu Uchiha. You can see why the clan would be pissed at their being ignored especially when the Hokage had already retired once, and yet they had two extremely strong candidates who I would probally say excede anyone who currently lived in Konoha.

The Mangekyo is another thing I found interesting in that there is someone else who has activated it. It may be more prevalent that imagined if it only requires to death of a friend to activate it, the only downside would be the eternal. I can sort of see why Madaras brother may have given up his eye willingly.

Its good. Like, so good. Itachi and Nagato are rightfully taking their places as the biggest bosses in the entire Naruto world, and they keep getting better.

Naruto is an idiot, like always, but goddamn, Kishimoto pulled out the stops for this fight.

 

Damn, Itachi and Nagato are the bosses, indeed. I really hope that Itachi will stay for some time, because it's a pleasure to watch him in action.

Unfortunately, probably the best fight in entire manga is now over. Unless they bring Jiraiya back (which is possible, because he died in a normal way, not sealed like 3rd and 4th Hokages) and we will have him fight with Itachi, I doubt there will be a battle as awesome as this one in the future.

 

I thought the sword would be a technique that Itachi gave Naruto via crow for him to seal away the dead about fifty chapters ago, but them three working together is amazing.

I hope Itachi and Naruto get to fight together a little bit more, it's ace, as while Naruto is pretty dumb, those three are on a whole other level compared to the other shinobi, heck, even compared to the Kages there just a tier above, imo.

Still, good to see Nagato go all out for a bit. The four of them really are, like others have said, on a whole other level.

 

Itachi is officially up there with Jiraya, Minato, Naruto, and Nagato. And that's not in any kind of order. Itachi has just proven when the sickness isn't holding him back he is fucking boss. I have to agree that unless Jiraiya is brought back to fight Itachi or a sasuke vs Itachi #2. This was the fight of the series.

 

Awesomesauce chapter was awesomesauce.

And this is why I like Itachi and Nagato as characters and have an intense dislike of Minato, who still remains a gary stu.

 

Loved it! Yeaa, Itachi is awesome, but don't forget Nagato and all Paths powers in him, he was epic I hope that Itachi will travel with Naruto and Bee from now on and show more of his awesomeness, like throw a Yata shield or wtf he done with this attack ?
