Well, of course. The more details we get that can be called canon, the more we can scoff, say "Fuck that noise; that shit's ridiculous!" and replace those canon details with an alternate interpretation in a new fanfic.

Oh, I don't hate it. I just don't like it. I've come to this realization where nothing in the original series appeals to me anymore. Others may feel differently.

I've been here for nearly three years ;). It's only recently I made the revelation.

You're my third favorite black guy, Blaise. I could never hate you.

I still love Harry Potter. I haven't read the actual books in some time, but if I happen to go and read random passages for whatever reason, I always end up reading 50 pages more than I should have if I'm not careful. JKR might have made some mistakes, but she knows how to write an engrossing story (yes, even HBP and DH).

I know what you mean regarding fanfiction, though. There was a period of time where I just stopped reading much HP fanfiction and was turning mostly to other fandoms. Somehow I got back into it, and the community is thriving as much as it ever was. The monthly DLP contests have produced some truly fantastic work, and WbA continues to host great new stuff (I recently discovered The Prisoner's Cipher...holy shit is that good).

The only section which disappoints me is For Review. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like it's been ages since an appreciable amount of good stuff was submitted there.

I started reading Harry Potter when I was in Primary School. I love it, and still love it by now. Pulling them from my bookshelf, either for some light reading or time killing, I always ended up being engaged by it. Although I don't like the sixth book, and haven't touched it again for two years, I still read it too for guilty pleasures. Harry Potter series has flaws, yes, but so does all other fantasy series in the market, and I don't think the flaws make it any less than good.

About fanfiction: I've just started reading them around the time HPDH1 came out, and I'm completely enthralled by them. Currently I'm still looking for more fanfiction, and thanks to DLP, I found so many high quality Harry Potter fics to read everyday.

Then, about this site... DLP is the only place where I can found ridiculously high quality Harry Potter fanfictions, mind-numbing debates about canon details, high level talks about writing, economic and science discussions, support for incest, and hottie pictures all in one place. I like Harry Potter, I like the fanfictions, and I'm glad being part of DLP :D

I haven't read the books more than once. I'm not going to. Very few books really have that appeal to me, those being the works of Butcher, the Malazan series, the Dark Tower series. Yet I believe I've read some fanfiction in excess of about sixteen times. At the least. I find it quite odd, but meh. The series just holds no magic for me.

I like Harry and the series. Like others have said already if I pick up one of the books they suck me in and I won't be able to put it down.

And yet here you are, on a Harry Potter fan site?

Well, the original series. I rather what others do with Rowling's work than the original. I'm on a Harry Potter fan site because I like Harry Potter fanfiction.

I still haven't read Half Blood Prince or Deathly Hallows. I keep meaning to watch the movies just so I actually finally get a clear indication of what is and isn't canon.

And yet Harry Potter fanfiction has probably been my single most time consuming hobby of the last 7 years.

Fanfiction kinda ruined the original for me. I sat down to read HBP, and just felt like reading fanfiction instead. Before I got into fanfiction, I loved the series. Finished the 5th one in a single night.

Read all the books except DH multiple times, but I think the long wait between 6 and 7 killed my interest in the original series. I remember being on vacation in Europe when DH came out and hunting for an English version so I could read it in a day and just get it over with.

I've found fanfiction to be much more interesting and I continue to hunt for good new fics (which are rare nowadays) and re-reading old favorites. And I'll be honest, if it wasn't for the DLP's library, the C2, and the high standard of quality demanded by both, I'd have probably stopped caring about Harry Potter.

    And that makes me sad.

I've read first five books multiple times, and had high hopes for the sixth but was dissapointed. Wanted to read more of Dumbledore vs. Voldemort style things, not about some kid who stalked malfoy while wanking on a potion text. Aside from that Hermione's bitching throughout the book annoyed me to no end.

Still I read it, then hoped DH would be better, you know making a good finale, but not as much. Elder wand and etc. interested me. I mean Three items death created, what's not to like. But was again immensly dissapointed, I mean why the hell did they had to go to a cross country trip, they could just stay in a muggle hotel. Anyway Ron's bitching was what annoyed me at this one.

Harry came of as too weak for me to really like him. I mean he practically won because of a technicality.
