Yeah. If you have a jungle Shyvana on your team, she'll almost always require you to initiate and a have some form of hard cc. She's amazing at controlling her jungle and counter jungling but her ganks are mediocre.

Lol Jon jesus you get that mad over a game bro, remind me not to ask you to teach me, lmao. Started playing Tristana because I got her unlocked free with the skin, can say I really liked her health leeching via items, her attack speed, and her skills. Played against the bots forever and was throwing em all over when I'm lucky to get 1:1 the first 6 games I've played. Think I'll continue messing with her until someone else shiny gets my attention

Bite me, yes they're bots, but my internet is shit when I'm not home =P

I've flat out told people to not expect me to teach them until they get a good understanding of the game. Merrill is the only one of the 'new people' that in general I'm willing to play with, seriously what the fuck kind of bizzaro world is this when that's the case?

And yes, I get angry when people make something that is fun for me into something that is a chore and unpleasant to play.

Don't feel bad if you suck, this game has a steep learning curve and it takes a lot of hours just to learn how to properly interact with your character(cast, move, attack etc). Especially if you you have not played RTS games.

I don't actually play LoL, I have played about 50 games or so but it did not interest me enough to stick with it. I prefer Heroes of Newerth(although not lately). Anyways, my younger brother(12) often watches me play, I'll explain things to him so he knows quite a bit about the game. One day he asked to play, I let him. I even played the first 10 minutes and gave him a huge starting bonus. However he was unable to navigate properly and ultimately, just fed their team and lost it.

My point here is that you can read all the advice in the world, understand every single item, spell and ability and how it interacts with every other item, spell and ability. But you will never be good without a lot of games. Accept when you fucked up, admit when you are wrong and for fuck sake, call misses :p

I can't connect to this piece of shit anymore. Tried everything to fix it but nothing works.

DOTA 2 should fix the issue.

Yo I got Taric or Ali on lock.

I know I should learn Soraka, just for her incredible lane sustain. Sona also is a strong option with dat ult.

While I certainly don't have the power to ban you entirely from DLP games, I'm going to stop playing with people if they can't refrain from trashing others. These games are not matchmaking-made, they are between a loose affiliation of players from a wide disparity of skill levels. Lots of players are learning and if you can't refrain from yelling at them then please don't play with them.

Also, if you can't handle losing a game, please don't play. We are playing a lot of 5v5 inhouse games lately, and 5 people are shockingly going to lose the game every time. So please keep in mind that if your team didn't do well one game, we can rebalance the teams and try for a better game next time. Amazingly, we can play the game again after one match and you can have a different team, as well as learn from your mistakes and help your allies learn from theirs. That doesn't happen if you rag on your teammates for their mistakes or quit because you didn't have a fun/good game the first time around.

Keep in mind that several players are new/inexperienced/bad at RTS-style gaming, so cut them some slack and help them to improve. If an ally is extending, tell them why it's bad to that, not that they are bad for doing it.

    Only you can prevent rage-fires.

Also, if there are any new players or players looking to improve, please do check out solomid.net and clgaming.net. They have tons of guides for champions and game mechanics. I recommend checking out the general guides section to read up on why certain champs are strong, how the meta game works, why wards are good, how jungling should work, and tons of other tips. Also be sure to read up on guides for champs you are unsure about playing or facing because knowing how to play a champ is the best way to know how to beat that champ.
If you have any questions you can't find the answer to, feel free to PM me or ask me in game. I was top 1% at the beginning of season 1 and while I've gotten worse, I do have a very solid theoretical knowledge of the game.

Also, if anyone is interested in getting into jungle or would like to jungle with a different character, search for stonewall008 on youtube and check his channel for videos. He shows the general paths for every single character in the game, done with what he has tested to be optimum runes/masteries/builds. He has what he calls 'olympic' runs for the champs and you can more or less use his channel as a series of video guides for jungling. He also has 'mindset' and 'teamplay' videos to show what different junglers should be doing and how they fit into team compositions late game.

Thanks Churchey, picked the game up a few days ago for the first time and this was a big help finding out where I should go.

Tried a few games with the weekly rotation characters and found myself actually liking kayle quite a bit. Found out that the guide I was using for her was pre-revamp so that's one handbook out the window. Currently playing her as a heavy burst damage with ignite and exhaust as summoner spells. Figure any help I can get figuring this out is appreciated.

Here's some advice to help people choose defensive items.

    Armor:
    • Randuin's Omen: Primarily used to counter ranged auto-attackers. The active on it greatly hinders ranged DPS kiting and DPS while the passive will proc often enough vs enemy tanky DPS. Primarily built on champions who can get in close at high speeds so the AOE has the most effect possible. A balanced defense item because of the HP and Armor. Best out of all defense items if enemy gets Last Whisper.

    • Frozen Heart: Aimed for the people who stay in fights a long time and require the extra mana and CDR to keep up their fight presence. While not as effective versus ranged, this item works much better at decreasing the DPS of close-range on-hit champs and Tanky DPS due to its infinite duration. Champions like Nasus and Alistar love this because of their naturally high HP pools as well as their long CDs that become incredibly spammy with this item.

    • Thorn Mail: Used to counter life steal and zero Mres+Arpen AD auto-attackers. This is a BAD defensive item to get unless you have a large HP pool as-is and the enemy has no magic resistance. If they have 100 MRes and Last Whisper, then this thing is a dud and you should swap over to Randuin's ASAP.

    Magic Resistance:
    • Banshee's Veil: Greatest Mres item ever due to the spell nullification. Bveil allows you to safely 1v1 many enemy champions if you can dodge their harass while you close in. The spell shield is incredible against champions like Annie, who rely on chaining a precise order of spells to finish people. If they can't pop the shield, then they largely can't do much to you.

    • Quick Silver Sash: Most underrated item ever in this game. The ability to say "LOL NO" to Exhaust, Ignite, Morde Ulti, Suppression ultimates, and any other CC that you just got hit with every 90s is too great to ignore. Get this on champions easily shut down by CC/Exhaust yet won't get instantly exploded by heavy burst.

    • Mercury Treads: Your go-to boots on any champion you don't know particularly well. CC reduction, Mres, and speed all in one efficient slot.

    All Around:
    • Aegis of the Legion: Wonderful early-item that can scale decently for the equipped. Auras stack for holders, so two people with Aegis get a nice +16 damage and ~50 of each defense if close to each other. Solid pick for any champ that can benefit from AD and needs a solid defense buffer. Best picked on supports, tanks, or anyone that can live a long time while fighting inside a mob.

    • Guardian Angel: Good amounts of armor and MRes. A strong choice on champions who have high HP or life steal. Allows you a short second wind in a fight, which can sometimes change the outcome of a battle dramatically if you use it well. Not recommended on squishies or people who go boom in one spell.

    • Shurelya's Reverie: Sometimes, one of the best defenses can be the ability to get out before you get caught. Reverie's low CD AOE speed boost and 15% CDR can provide that escape. Builds out of Philosopher's Stone, which means you can get some decent lane sustain going to.

    Attack Oriented:
    Ability Power + Defense:
    • Zhonya's Hourglass: Great mage item. Active allows you to avoid an ungodly amount of effects while giving you time to recuperate CDs.

    • Abyssal Scepter: AOE Sorc Shoes vs Champions. 1000 pixel range, so super-long range champions will not get the effects. All mages will benefit from this item.

    • Rod of Ages: Solid HP, Mana, and AP. Rush this if you plan for it. Provides a rather large boost in early survivability. Rylai's would be the mana-less equivalent.

    Physical + Defense
    • Atma's Impaler: It takes around 1300 HP to make this item's combine cost pay for itself. While critical is useless on most AD casters, slapping this allows many champions to convert a BVeil or Frozen Mallet into a lot of extra damage potential. Great pick for just about any champ that wants crits and survivability.

    • Sunfire Cape: Any champion that primarily fights close up likes this. solid early/middle game DOT that also helps champions such as Shen and Rammus farm. Amazing synergy with many tanks and Tanky DPS due to the nature of their DPs-oriented skill set.

    • Bloodthirster: While most won't consider a heavy damage item a defensive option, they can not argue that healing 100+ HP per attack will keep you alive.

    Tanky DPS Go-To's:
    • Madred's Bloodrazor: Solid pick if you're focusing on attack speed or only want one damage item. While it won't hurt enemy Tanky DPS or Tanks with MRes at all, it will let you munch through squishies.

    • Wit's End: Great early damage booster and magic defense item. Allows you to charge casters with impunity early on if you're good enough.

    • Frozen Mallet: Never a bad option to slow enemy down for even more hits. HP is also a universal defense, so it'll help nullify magic and physical attacks equally well. Suggest you don't rush this item, instead sticking to phage for a while, due to heavy costs.

P.S: Unless you're a Tank or Tanky DPS, rushing completed defensive items will usually set you back more than it helps. Grabbing a Negatron cloak early is definitely smart when facing an enemy Leblanc, but don't go out of your way to turn it into a BVeil until later.

P.P.S: The enemy of full defense champions are properly built AD carries. Auto-attacks scale SIGNIFICANTLY better than defense. Get Last Whisper and Life steal then proceed to roll the defense-only teams.

Also, if you're a tanky DPS, don't assume that Wriggles Lantern is only for junglers - it can provide much-needed lane sustain early-mid game. Builds from a standard Cloth Armor + 5 pots build, which is handy too. Get it if your opponent is pushing you to tower too much. The ward is handy all through the game.

Been busting out the Renekton solo top lately. Picked up a Quadra like it was nothing. Kinda sucks that he falls off late game, but early/mid-game dominance is a fair trade I guess.
