Slicing is a gathering skill. Underworld Trading is a mission skill.

Correct me if I've misunderstood but, you were lamenting going back to the starter worlds to lvl the skill used to get the blue/purple crafting materials after dropping slicing near 50 yes? Leveling your crafting skill on greens using the relevant gathering skill so you would level with Cybertech, Salvaging and slicing. Then dropping the slicing for Underworld trading wich you would have to lvl through companion missions so you would'nt need to go back to previous planets.

On another note, amazon just sent my copy of SWTOR this evening so I'll be able to play straight through on the 20th.

I really hope I get in today. People who pre-ordered up until the 24th of November are in, I did it on the 30th. The last 3 waves have let people who ordered 7 days apart, so one more wave should do the trick.

Strike that and reverse it, I've already leveled Underworld trading quite a bit, and I don't want to go back to the previous two worlds just to re-level slicing so that when I get to level 50 I can drop it and re-level underworld trading. again. >.> If I had thought of that before I got deeper into the game, I would have been following the suggestion made herein, but I CBA to go back over the planets just to level a skill.

Especially since my server is one of the few 'very heavy' population server and I doubt the nodes are in as little demand as they are on some others.

Ah I see, I thought you were talking about a theoretical charachter.

I'm also quite disappointed at how easy the space missions are so far, just finished the 2nd lot of tier 2 for todays dailies.

Got my early access now, so I know what I'll be up to tomorrow. If I'm up for sitting up in my chair that is, damn surgery complications.

Is there some kind of DLP guild going on? I wouldn't mind getting in on one if there is, at the very least it gives some people we can all level with.

Beta was running smoothly for me but now I've got only about 20 fps -.- Which kinda ruins the game experience. Any of you guys know how I can improve the performance? I've allready set all graphic options to the minimum.

What kind of video card do you have? If it's an ATI I know you can force a lot of things off in the Control Center. That might work, and it did for me. I had to make sure I wasnt running AA or anything else.

Ctrl+Shift+F displays your fps, apparently if the text is green its your gpu that is limiting it, red for CPU.

Try updating you drivers, my cpu is actually worse than that and my fps is fine with settings on medium/high. I do have INCREDIBLY long load times(like 3-4 minutes just to get into game, 45 seconds to load a flashpoint).

Make sure you turn shadows off. When I logged in for the first time the game was literally unplayable and I was tearing my hair out, but as soon as I realized that "low" was not the lowest setting for shadow graphics the game ran just fine.

I've been curious as to what the true minimum specs were for SWTOR because I needed to buy a laptop, I wanted a small one, and I didn't want an m11x because the main purpose was not for gaming.

I tested it out on my Macbook that I have to return on Monday.

Specs: Macbook Pro 13" (mid-2010 version)
    2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics
    4GB DDR3 RAM
Windows XP 32-bit OS installed via Bootcamp

Trial 1: Low Settings & Shadows Off, 1280x800 native resolution
Around 40 FPS in non-crowded areas, perfectly playable
FPS went down to an average closer to 20-25 while doing Black Talon, but still felt playable
    Laptop was warmer than usual.

    Trial 2: Preset "Medium" Settings
FPS hovered around 15 in Black Talon. Choppy enough not to be fun to play for combat, but it'd be reasonable if all you wanted to do was log in and check the Auctions, etc.
    Laptop got stupidly hot.

Trial 3: Low Settings & Shadows Off, 800x600 resolution
~60 FPS in non-crowded areas. Though it would dip down if lots of people or graphics appeared. Ran smoothly overall though.
FPS in the Black Talon tended to be around 40, making it quite playable there as well. Though again it dipped down a few times, but not into anything not-playable.

It was was stupidly hard to read my FPS however, as something was covering it up, so don't take it as 100%. I also didn't get to do a ton of testing because my laptop ran out of battery and turned off. I didn't feel like setting it up again to keep going.

I think it was good enough for my purposes. I wouldn't want to use it as a primary gaming computer, because it'd be frustrating, but it did well enough that I'd use it to kill a bit of time online in a hotel room.

I picked up a Thinkpad x220 off of eBay not long after. It has integrated graphics but supposedly the 2nd Gen iCore graphics are superior to the 320M, plus the processor is better.

Edit: I've always heard that playing in Fullscreen mode is better than playing in Windowed mode (where it's easier to tab out), is that true and if so, why?

Just a heads up for whenever you guys get to Taris.

There is currently a memory leak issue on the planet, which will at some places at some times for most people cause severe lag resulting in crashes. This is confirmed by bioware and they've been working on a fix since beta apparantly. We'll be 'updated' when they have more news.

Current "self-fixes" for this problems are slim. Ways I and my irl friends have avoided immediate server crashes and thus being stuck in an infinite loop of crashes has been either
    1) Quicktravel the fuck away asap.
    2) Manage to untrack all quests in the questlog.
This has to be done within 30 seconds of the start of the lag(1f/5s roughly) or you're goner.

Take notice that this sometimes only pushes the crash ahead by a few minutes.

Tips is to avoid questing in Taris if your realm currently has a queue in order to avoid unecessary downtime. Do your quests there on odd hours.

    Good luck.

Juggernaut Tank has really slow skill progression when it comes to actual tanking abilities. Meaning that by the late twenties you have serious issues with mob control that supposedly last into the thirties for a bit.

After that it's supposed to get better, and alot of folks say the classes are all balanced by 50. But apparently mid-game is terrible for Juggernaut tanks.

Compare it to the 'Hell Levels' in EQ. But at 25-35ish instead.

Also, Juggernauts are much more complex than just about any other class out there to tank with/play correctly, later in the game. Something like 16 abilities that are all important and not really ignorable/need to be on your bar and tracked and juggled the usage of at the correct moment.. pretty much 24/7.

21 if you include secondary abilities for better damage/extra utility.

    You have been forewarned.
