I once read an amazing fiction in which Snape had died but left Harry with several vials containing some of Snape's memories (I think they were supposed to be of his parents or to help him find Horacruxes, I don't remember) but Snape put the wrong memories in the vials. When Harry looks in the pensieve he sees some of Snape's dreams, in which they're lovers. Harry is at first disgusted, but can't stop watching them. He begins to see a whole new, gentle, side of Snape as he watches the dreams from every angle. Eventually, Harry becomes obsessed with the pensieve memories and with Snape.
McGonnagal was the headmaster in this fic if that helps.
And...cliche/obvious spoiler: Turns out Snape hadn't died and Harry eventually figures this out.
