Ok guys I am at my wits end I have been Googling for 4 straight hours and no help so heres to hoping you guys can be my saviors.

So here's how it is, my computer suddenly went crazy when watching a movie
I shut it off but when i turned it on it wouldn't POWER on, the mouse's LED is on so it isn't my psu, and the psu fans aren't spinning, no beeping, no sign that its turning on. I pulled everything out and reconnected powering it up and it works the fans are spinning its normal. Then I notice my Graphics card isn't Connected I put it back in and it doesn't fucking work, same problem.

When I pulled it out it works but when it's connected it doesn't power on completely. Please guys help me what the hell is going on?

    Your graphic card doesn't work.

I would download a program that checks your computers hardware for 'bugs'. For starters use everest. Then do a visual check on your graphic card maybe it's burned out( it happened to me after a black out)

Hey thanks for replying, unfortunately I can't make any hardware checks on the graphics card as the computer doesn't turn on at all. I also checked and from what I can tell(am not 100 percent sure) it looks normal

Whats bothering me the most is, Why is the graphics card affecting the computer powering up, even if its busted the computer should turn on but there shouldn't be any display on my screen right?

Do a hardware check without the graphic card plugged in.

Because when you power on the comp then then it powers up everything so when it tries to power up the card it can't so it shuts down to save everything. At least I think.

It still might be the psu. Perhaps it isn't able to supply everything.

Do you have other devices you could unplug, i.e. drives?

My sound card maybe? other than that nothing else or does the DVD drive and Hardisk count.

Now that you mention it I have to unplug the power cord physically and plug it up, sometimes jiggle it a little in order for it to start without the Graphics card, think that means something?

Yeah, of course these count. If you plug out everything except your graphic card, and it still doesn't turn on then I'd assume the card is causing a shortcut or so, which the psu recognises and cuts off the output.

And your problems with your cable could mean that indeed there is something with the socket (a badly connected cable) or it's just the cable itself. It might be related. /shrug

As others have said, it's probably your PSU or faulty power cable. It sounds like it's unable to supply enough current to power up all of your devices. And yes, hard drives use a lot of juice at boot time as they spin up their discs.

Another Idea: I noticed you're living in Nairobi.

Are there perhaps any problems with your local power supply?

The place I work at had problems with the house-internal power supply. It caused some computers to apparently randomly switch out. Soon we noticed that happened when too much equipment on the floor was running at the same time - the supply for the floor wasn't able to handle the needed power. When it had been completely refurbished during the 1980th, no one considered that one day each office might be equipped with one computer per person, one printer, one coffeemachine and one water boiler per office, which are all running the whole day.

Try to place the card in another slot, and if that doesn't work either, replace it.

Before you try that though, be aware, that in a worst case scenario you can damage another slot with the card.

Well before it happened there had been frequent power outages as they switched to underground due to rain, but other than that there has been no problem.

My motherboard only has one slot that the card can fit into so thats out, but I also suspect that somehow the card is preventing the PC from completing circuit? so maybe its the slot? or for some reason my PSU can't power up the card but even if thats the case why doesn't the PC power up and the card doesn't therefore no display?

I had the exact same problem when fixing someone's computer last year and had to replace the PSU.

Did you try to start it with just the card installed and everything else unplugged? You only need to unplug the power cables of your HDD and DVD to cut them off.

PSUs nowadays are quite intelligent on their own to prevent further damage. They can't be switched on or they switch themselves off if they detect a fault.
