Playing hardcore while not using the AH at all is ridiculously fun. I haven't re-run any acts to get overlevelled or anything + my gear is a lot worse than I had at the same point in softcore, so I've had some panic spots etc, really brings the fun back into it & I wish I didn't know to use the AH when levelling up softcore now, since I pretty much blasted through it and realised there was no end game when I finished and ended up quitting instead of pointlessly farming items.

It also makes you realise how much you've improved at the game. Not gonna lie, some stuff in nightmare/hell was pretty tough on my 1st playthrough and I died a lot despite having much better gear, so getting far in on my first go feels pretty rewarding.

Since buying and playing Diablo 3... I've actually logged more hours on D2. Started playing it again when D3 left me wanting more.. fun. Got a lvl 86 Sorceress on ladder and made a number of single player characters for trying out different gear and builds.

Its still a better game then D3, despite the age and the amount of time I've already spent on it in the past 10 years :p

    Wow these fucking retards.
They release gold selling directly on RMAH.
They set the 'sell amount' at 100k instead of 1mil. Then they set the minimum fucking value on it at 25c per 100k. You cannot charge less than this.

Which means buying it via random sellers or 3rd party gold sites saves you 60c or more per million. You literally can't sell via AH without charging 40% more than what goldselling websites or randoms on d2jsp are offering.

And on top of that? They add another 15% fee off the top. So you take 1$ loss, which I think applies to the total amount as that's all that would make sense, then you take a 15% loss even if you put it on blizzard bucks (an apparently useless currency you can only use to spend on d3 or more blizzard products), then if you want to transfer to a 3rd party like paypal, you lose ANOTHER 15%. What the fuck is the point if I can't even sell my goddamn gold because they won't let me even MATCH actual gold values.

I have $100+ in gold that I can't sell through them. It's just fucked because selling through paypal always protects the buyer, and there's rampant abuse of chargebacks still.

    Fucking blizzard

While the minimum cap for gold is quite high, resulting in prices that aren't competitive with gold sellers outside the RMAH, the way gold selling works right now is that there is a flat 15% transaction fee(no additional 1 dollar fee). So if I sold 1m gold, I would get 2.50 * 0.85, or 2 dollars and 12 cents. Now, you can keep that at as is and put it in the largely useless blizzard bucks, or take the further 15% cut and put it in paypal.

This is not all bad, however, as far more people use the RMAH than external sources. The minimum cap is actually good, as its raising the price on gold. I've sold ~10m gold so far at 2.50 for 1m, which resulted in me getting close to 20 dollars into paypal. Had I sold it to a 3rd party site, I would have reduced the cuts, but also reduced the actual price I was selling at, so it remains at a similar value.

The 1 dollar fee you're thinking of applies to equipment sales, which carry a 1 dollar fee instead of the 15% cut. Transferring to paypal always carries a further 15% cut.

How have you sold anything though?
I've had 75mil up for 2 days now with nothing. I have no problem with selling it at half the blizzard standard price if it actually sold.

    But it doesn't.

I put the gold up within 1 hour of the RMAH allowing gold, and it all sold within about 6 hours. Some of it may have been luck, but the other thing might be simple listing time, with items of the same price it probably sells whoever listed first, so you may have been a little late. I imagine there are far more people selling gold than buying it; I know I wasn't the only one waiting to uninstall D3 after I sold my gold. The RMAH has always been very time sensitive, like when it first came out waiting even 5-10 hours to list stuff resulted in hundreds of lost dollars.

But the gold is selling(though very likely with much more people selling than buying), and all said and done I'm glad there was a minimum cap because cuts aside it actually raised the value of my gold as a result.

Anyone still play? Or has D3 been dumped?

I'm currently getting a DH up to scratch, so I can gold farm/sell gold on the RMAH.

If bitches be buying, I be selling.

Also, thinking about setting up a price-check thread for items. Thoughts?

Stopped playing once it became an item grind.

    Don't play games to grind.

Well, I got a shit-ton of items (and you know no idea how many bloody Angel Hair Braids I have!) - and no idea how much they're worth.

Might set up a price-check thread, hah.

I stopped playing after I got bored with it. It lost much of its appeal when it became apparent that Blizzard was more interested in making the RM/AH work than making the game fun.

Thinking of buying it now that the hype has died down, and apparently everyone has gotten bored with the game. Is is still enjoyable as a purely Single Player experience?

Yeah, I bought it because blizz games generally have a good singleplayer. I have no interest in the item grind at all, and I have to say it's definitely the most disappointing blizz game i've ever bought.

I wouldn't bother buying it for the singleplayer, no.

Alright. I'll stay the hell away from it for now. Maybe after it dips heavily in price, though I doubt that will happen in this decade.

If you limit yourself to one char, you can enjoy it until end-Hell. It's always the same levels but you gain more powers/different playstyle, the affixes' combos become more interresting and if you lag a bit with looted stuff you can get cheap yet good upgrades via the HV. Arma has very limited interest.

If you want several chars it becomes old a lot quicker oddly.

What I want to say is: don't buy it, the only reason I logged more hours than I care to tell and finished Arma is because I didn't want to have paid for nothing. (And because I severly lacked even somewhat-fun games at the moment.)

I'm glad I'm skipping this game then. I'm not really interested in spending hours upon hours just for a single item like they made WoW. No thanks. And the no SP without internet killed it for me from the beginning.

Make or Break time for D3.

I really hope they get most of this right. I doubt it, but I can hope.

    Break.

Even if this patch does somehow restore things, it's too little, too late.

The game's already deader than an EA Command and Conquer game one year after launch.

Blizzard really dropped the ball on D3, both in development and support.

I went by my brother's place today and had to try really hard to stifle a laugh when I saw his gigantic D3 collector's box sitting on his desk. Honestly I feel bad for him.

    He doesn't play anymore either.
