From the way you are phrasing it, it makes it sound like you think he liked the name change, not that he wanted it to say its original name 0.o

Sarcasm, my friend. It doesn't translate well over the internet, but it's there.

Perhaps if he hadn't quoted Red's comment the sarcasm would have been more apparent.

Been trying out Gangplank lately. His Q is all sorts of fun once you get some ad and crit behind it. Generally take him top, but I've had a few games bot as well. Does anyone have any general advice for him?

Take him mid and shit on people. Most APs can't counter your harass, durability, or effective CC immunity. Don't build him pure squish unless you go full retard.

Better off getting Sheen early to upgrade your harass, add mana for more lulz, give better Heals and R damage, and not rely on luck for crits.

    Typically, try:

Boots, Philo, Sheen as build order for best sustain and harass in mid.

I prefer 3x Flat AD Marks and Quints, 6x AR Pen marks, 9x flat Ar seals, and 9x flat MRes glyphs as runes. Usually run 21/9/0 or 9/14/7 as masteries, sometimes 9/21/0.

I've been starting with boots, then Wriggles/Warmogs/Atmas/InfinEdge/Bloodthister/Whatever.

Going 21/0/9 because I had a tendency to burn through mana. Five Armour pen marks, four flat ad marks, nine flat armour seals, nine flat mr glyphs and flat ad quints.

Originally I was starting with brawler's gloves and getting Avarice blade and boots early, then a Sheen and that'd do me until I had enough to buy Triforce outright, but I was advised there were better ways.

Get crit runes. His Q scales with crit and hitting an enemy for 170+ damage at level 1 is godly, rather often leads to easy lane control.

When playing GP, if you're against someone you can't outright kill or force back (either because of player skill/champ skillset) it is best to play passively and farm nonstop with your Q.

GP scales well and the extra gold for a last hit with Q builds up very quickly if you focus on doing that. It also allows GP to hit key items timings earlier to give him a good power curve.

Oranges also allows him to win trades easily, though don't use it early for a heal if they haven't used their CC skill.

    Boots3 -> Philo -> Sheen -> Trinity -> IE is a reasonable build

Teleport/Flash are good spells because Global ult + tele gives you amazing map presence, have your support put a ward in bottom brush and tele in, initate with Ult + Raise Morale and you'll get your team doublekills very easily.

Well, from the LoL wiki's Trivia section on Lux:
...and also, farther down the page in the Skins sub-section...

Yea that's what I thought. I'm perfectly fine with the change. I'm honestly still slightly surprised that Lux turned out to be a functional champion when her 'lead designer' was more obsessed with making her a walking weeaboo bullshit reference instead of making her work.

    Thank god for talented subordinates.

Well, I haven't actually played any of the Touhou games myself, but a former roommate did(on low difficulty). I know that they have a decently large 'cult' fan following, and are notorious for being insanely difficult on the higher difficulties. That, and some of their music tracks are pretty nice.

Then again, I actually like Japan for the most part, so I guess that helps me not actively dislike it. No offense intended, of course.

No offense taken. I generally have no issue with Japan outside of the things you find in the Sick and Perverse area of the forums, and I watch quite a few animes. But I personally hated Shurelia.

The thing that annoyed me was that she was incredibly active on the forums but only with irrelevant and inane anime references while avoiding answering any questions actually relevant to the game, sort of like an anti-xypherous.

And lux received large changes for three patches after her release before she was actually decent, because Shurelia was so obsessed with making her a walking jpop-culture reference.

Lux is one of those champions that comes across to me as when she's played well, she's amazing, when she's played average... she just doesn't seem to cut it. Having watched a few Lux games on 'pro' players streams (those in and out of teams) I think Lux is a champion best left alone unless you're confident with your ability with skill shots.

As for re-naming her ult, I don't really mind either way, I would never have gotten the reference without the wiki. Also met my first curb-stomping Zyra today. That ult, I don't know if it needs a nerf, perhaps in size, just a small one but I'm glad that the knock-up doesn't occur till the end, otherwise it would be even more annoying than it already is with certain AoE heavy comps.

Having just played a lux game, went 12/4, then lost because dipshit sivir and GP wouldn't stay with the team.....Lux is an excellent champion. But she can't carry a team past mid-late game, when her damage suddenly starts to fall off hardcore. Even with a fully stacked Mejai's her ult's damage just doesn't keep up with the MRes and health stacking that really starts to pay off that late in the game.

It's almost worth building her as super-duper AP, simply because if she gets caught late game, she's almost as good as dead, but if her spells can hit, their scaling is pretty darn good, considering they are all multi-target. That being said, it's not too uncommon to be able to Ult as an initiation, and be able to Ult as a finisher on a moderately dragged-on teamfight.
One of my best games(or at least most pleasing) with Lux, had me going around 27/2/##, and having taken less than 1/5th the damage of the next least-damage-taken teammate. Of course, that was with the mostly gimmick build of Deathcap, Mejai's, Lich Bane... and three Archangel's.:facepalm
(boots sold for third AA after full build and elixirs that game, since I was honestly almost never in any danger with something like an Alistar/Amumu/Riven front-line and some form of AD carry at closer range than I was anyway)

    -----
1280.5 AP without Blue Elixir or Baron:
    Q for 1156/578
    W for 628
    E for 1008
    R for 1360
    -----

I say 'almost,' because it's a rare, rare game where you can afford to pull off such a build, but it was quite fun regardless.

The only changes I see on Lux since she hit the public client are buffs to damage, mana costs, range, and CD . Her kit has remained unchanged except for these number tweaks.

I love lux, but her dmg does falls off late game so I usually grab a lich. Her range is so awesome on all her spells you can usually just sit back in fights so you don't need to build survivability.

Sub-1.5k elo.... Dat Mordekaiser. Farm all day, carry team to victory. I had a game with Yorick where our teamfights were 4v7 almost always. Jungles raging though, stealing wraiths everywhere. Thinking about the spell vamp quints, even though they are ridiculously expensive. They would help early game a lot.

In general, runes are freaking expensive. Quints like 2k. :(

So they only changed everything about her? Ok, thanks.
They had to increase her AP ratios, increase her missile width, increase her ability range, decrease her mana costs, and add her ultimate-passive interaction.
Did you have a point except to prove mine? Or are you saying that the number tweaks don't matter, and that a lux with significantly weaker spells 'number-wise' is just as effective of a champion?

My point was that Shurelia was too busy masturbating to her jpop references to address the readily available feedback that Lux was weak on the test realm, and chose to ship out a subpar champ and let the live-balance team handle it instead.
