There was a one shot I read a while ago about Snape actually being killed by Remus and the shit storm that came about because of that. It finishes up with Peter dying rather than telling Voldemort where James et al were. Does anyone recognise it? I can't remember much else other than a feeling that it was similar in style to Dark Marauder.

 

Prince of a dark kingdom also fits, if you count the destruction of the christian religion and bringing wizards back to worshiping pagan gods as a good thing.

Does anyone know good fics that have Harry paired with someone who wasn't overdone to death in fanfiction?
For example, girls like Hermione, Luna, Ginny, Cho, Katie Bell etc have tens of thousands of fics,
while Parvati, Lavender and other side characters have less.
I for one would read a well written story that has Harry paired with Padma Patil or someone less known.
Of course the romance shouldn't be the main focus of the story, that's just silly, but it could be there nonetheless.

And I estimate that 90% of them are utter shite.

 

Hey, if you got tens of thousands of Luna fics, please feel free to share. There's probably less than five readable ones. Same with Katie Bell. Harry/Katie is one of my favorite pairings, but I've yet to see a fic that truly encompasses what it should really be like.

There's also Harry Potter and the Unlocked Knowledge, though that's abandoned. Meh, Yule Ball hasn't been updated in forever, either.

 

Are there any interesting massive AUs in a similar vein to Wit of the Raven and Taure's Lords of Magic? For those unfamiliar, magical society and theory in these stories is more complex, detailed and alien than canon.

There's Skitterleap part 1 which sort of fits I think. There's also Out in the Night which features an AU magical society, but may not be as off-base as you're looking for.

 

Reading The Well Groomed Mind made me wonder if there are well written stories which feature Harry and Voldemort working together to achieve a common goal or at least let each other be. I'm specifically searching for something along the lines of By That Last Candle's Light by Sesc. By the way Sesc, hoping for an update on that one. Please...

I'm not looking for stories where Harry goes Dark and joins the Dark Lord to destroy everyone else, but for those where he comes to the conclusion that that he has no interest in helping people who expect him to do the dirty work for them and are willing to crucify him later if things don't go well.

Basically, looking for stories where Harry decides that being dragged into the arena or walking into it with head held high are not options, cuts a deal with the jailer and gets to sit and watch the combatants tear each other to pieces.
