I've just finished dellacouer's The World that Waits for the umpteenth time, and I find myself with the desire to read another story set in the X-men universe. Can anyone help? I know most stories in the genre are shit, but there might be some gems out there.

How you've never seen this full size amazes me. Also I want more comic book crossovers in general. X-Men is just really popular.

I'll likely never change it. It's such a delicious image.

You can try Beyond the veil, it's somewhat similar to dellacouer's story but the author add a lot more comics to the crossover.

It's a good guilty pleasure, with Harry being really overpowered and portrayed as the coolest guy on the campus (with 2 girlfriends) but I enjoyed reading it for the complete lack of angst.

I have a few x-men stories in my link database but the only one which I remember to have been really good besides Delacour's is Project M

megamatt09's Beyond the veil is plain annoying because of the horrible characterizing, his harem fetish and throw away comic plots. The guy writes stories as if they are comics.

The xmen crossovers are so frustrating because they mostly use the mutant school trope while the universe is so much bigger. Age of Apocalypse, Hellfire Club, Sinister, Bishop, Weapon X, Ultimate X-Men,... have a certain hard boiled quality to offer a really interesting setting with Harry in it than yet another Mutant school story.

Ugh Beyond the Veil. It's literally X-Men: Evolution episodes with Harry added in. And a bunch of random sex.

It's pretty bad, Beyond the Veil. I wouldn't mind reading about Harry in the current Marvel Universe at school under headmaster Logan. After M-Day and all that good shit.

It's DC, not Marvel, but I hope you've all read Heather Sinclair's fantastic Death's Knight. Maybe some new reviews will prompt her to write some more.

I seem to recall there being a fic that has baby Harry getting thrown back into the stone age and passing through time affecting just about every important historical event. I think he even becomes Merlin in the last few chapters the author had posted. Then all of a sudden it went from vanilla HP to Harry getting taken in by the government and made into Wolverine. I'm not kidding.

Can't remember what the title was, and that's probably for the best anyway, but it might work out for you if you can find the damn thing.

Bobmin's Mutant Storm is the only other one I can think of that isn't so awful you gouge your eyes out.

The problem with a HP/XM cross is the same as you tend to see in HP/Dresden crosses.
Potterverse magic is so varied, and can cast at such different levels of power, that making any Wizard a superhero is possible, without changing anything from canon.

A lot of the mutations/super powers you see are the same as one or two spells. And unless those spells are really difficult, once a wizard is around, he can cast them.

This makes giving Harry a mutation difficult. If he gains the ability to shoot lasers from his eyes, how is that different from blasting curses/stunners? If he gains the ability to teleport, how is it different from apparation?

Looking through my alerts, I've got two other crossovers, but I can't remember if they're any good.

WizKid is the first of currently two stories by Joshua the Evil Guy. He has some kind of electrical powers.

Holly, Phoenix, Diamond and Elm. If this is the one I think it is, then Harry eventually gets turned into a girl for some reason. Also, Harriet then becomes a lesbian. Also the fic hasn't been updated in over three years.

It's a JoeHundredaire fic. Nuff said. Kill it with fire.

    I disagree. That was terrible.

Magic is enough. He doesn't need a mutant power. He can alter reality. Completely change the nature of things. That's like, 'Omega' level shit there, buddy. Alpha definitely. He'd be in a class with mutants like Vulcan.

One unique X-Men crossover which unfortunately appears to be abandoned is Oleander. It involves a teenage Petunia discovering she is a powerful mutant and joining the brotherhood of mutants. Private Drive Petunia was fanatical about being normal, so it is not unreal to imagine mutant Petunia becoming a fanatical mutant. In one chapter, she nearly kills Snape.

Unique, but bad. And there's no Harry Potter. It's a "Marauders-era" fic. For some reason I thought the story was setting up a Harry-raised-by-evil-mutant-Petunia. The actual story is slightly more original than that, but also more boring.
