I am so very very tired of this problem.

My computer doesn't like to switch from the speakers to headphones anymore. There is a huge delay that is of a random length.

I have win 7 and i think this is because of my new graphics card.

When I plug my headphones into the front computer jack, it refuses to switch to playing sound through them and dropping the speakers. It also does this for the reverse as well. I have so far listened for 30 minutes to a lecture coming out of my speakers while my headphones have been plugged in this whole time.:facepalm

I have noticed that sometimes when i plug in my headphones a notification from the catalyst control center for my card pops up and asks if i would like to configure this new audio interface, I usually just click cancel to ignore it. When I do decide to click configure I am taken to the control center and it allows me to do nothing as the devices are already configured.

Have you tried plugging your headphones into the jack in the back? What kind of speakers are you using? How about sound card?

    Perhaps there's an IRQ conflict.

This was my issue with switching audio, some years ago. I'd start looking into it from this angle, to start.

I have tried plugging the heaphones into the back and it has done nothing, its the same problem. I'm using an audio jack into my television speakers.

I'm just using the Integrated ALC888S-VD audio from my motherboard. It seems like the realtek audio driver I have fights with the native windows sound management because when i try to access either of them theres a 50/50 chance they'll decide to appear on screen after a period of ten minutes or so.

Update or reinstall realtek drivers, set it as the default handler of your speakers and audio, make sure you have volume turned up. Sometimes you can manually open the realtek interface if it doesn't respond immediately. Adjust output according to your desire.
