I am looking for story (stories?) about RoR where somebody is really exploring how it can be used. Usually it is "Hey we found room that can create whatever we request. Lets use it for our current needs and never really think how absurdly powerful and useful this thing can be".

    Question inspired by

You'd think this would be an easy search to satisfy, but I am stuck thinking of the oh-so-many power fantasy stories that leverage this particular gimme to awful overuse. It's almost like asking, 'Are there any good stories where Harry really goes to town with a Time Turner?'

Anyway, this is what I could stand to mention:

    Room of Requirement
    by Fission25

While enjoying a more realistic use of the Room of Requirement, Harry walks his own path toward maturity in a world filled with pureblood bigotry, corruption and evil. Fifth year AU. Mature content.
    Harry Potter - Rated: M - English - Romance/Adventure - Chapters: 5 - Words: 28,721 - Reviews: 151 - Updated: 7-7-08 - Published: 6-18-08 - Harry P. & N. Tonks

This was a promising work that fell idle too soon for where it seemed to be going.

There aren't many I can think of, but I'll list what I can.

Full Metal Magic, a three parter in Enterprise's idea folder uses it, although he goes for the same as a lot of other people - hyper time dilation but no ageing. This is the only one I can think of that pushes much more beyond normal.

The same author uses it sort of again, in a different way, in another piece - The Poker Game, a haremfic that gets a bit silly, but doesn't take itself too seriously.

Jeconais' Hogwart's Dawn has more time dilation shenanigans, and later chapters have more things happening. It isn't a great story, but I enjoy it.

DOOM day has some time play shenanigans, if I remember right. But that's about it.

There's another one I remember, someone on DLP linked to it, but I can't remember the name. Harry/Gabrielle/Hermione, some sort of master/slave bond with H/Ga, and Hr/Ga 'play' because Hr doesn't want to lose her technical virginity. The room is used for some sort of sex-play, but I can't remember what.

Most stories just use it for time dilation, or sex. Sometimes a massive training room.

I'll probably be blasted for this but Passageways by jerrway69 utilizes the RoR in a slightly unusual manner. It's mostly a guilty pleasure for me but it fits what you asked for.

The Room of Requirement is essentially a room of wishes with no limits. Used the way you ask, it breaks the HP world. It's no wonder that there aren't so many good stories exploiting this.

I can top that for guilty pleasures: Miranda Flairgold's A Second Chance at Life starts Harry's über-pluss-ups in the RoR with some good, old-fashioned time-dilation and texts on blood magic and alternative magical schools in Canada.

I've read this exactly once as it was discontinued and holy crap was it AU. It was a really good guilty pleasure read though, I couldn't put it down when I did.

It may be hard to use RoR on large scale without doing "wishes with no limits" thing - but maybe somebody managed to do this? It would be nice to find some twists, like one did by wordhammer.

I absolutely hate the RoR. If I ever wrote a fic, Harry would never discover it. It's basically the Room of Give the Hero Whatever He Needs or Wants. Time dilation is probably the worst way you could use it. The only way I like seeing it used is in a minor role. Sort of like how it was "used" throughout Hogwarts history. Just randomly used for some minor need: a bathroom, a place to hide things, a broom closet. It's not meant to be abused, and if it is, its a sign of a terrible story.

I don't think OP was necessarily looking for RoR abuse. It's pretty easy to limit its usefulness to a reasonable level, but very few authors actually have their characters explore those limits...especially starting with literally no assumptions whatsoever. It's not really surprising, because short of threads like this, how many people think like that?

Harry Potter and the Distaff Side uses the RoR a bit.

Harry needs to train take out Voldemort, so the room happily provides a Voldemort for Harry to 'play' with.

I didn't care much for the story, but it was the first time I've seen the RoR used that way.

The most realistic RoR story is the smut one on FicWad where Harry uses it to spy on all his yearmates.
