So I went on a roll and played myself back up to Gold 4 100 LP.

First game, all the lanes went even slightly in our favor, though me on Corki/Fidd support destroyed their bot lane who was trolling with Malz supp. Midgame we cleaned up though.

Second game was much better. Got first blood top as Jungle Kayle to Nasus and secured a kill mid while leveling to 6 to ulti our Gragas from the tower shot. Our bot lane was Caitlyn Lulu and they were so safe from everything.
Midgame our top and mid threw hard. Nasus goes Sheen first vs Aatrox and he gets destroyed. Gragas plays greedily and feeds back several kills to enemy Zed.
Several skirmishes and then we win a decisive teamfight to get inhib and we snowballed it from there.

    Gold 3!

PS. My Lolking graph is pretty funny. A huge valley where I slumped hard =(

I wanted to see if I could carry a friend to gold, so I played my smurf again. Been playing a lot of Corki/Leona duo. Currently 5/0 and 2/1 with Sivir/Leona. Season 2 all over again.

My smurf is now in Gold 4 100 LP too.

All aboard the Corki freelo train?

Corki/Leona is a rape train - if you're in a duo to boot, can't go wrong. Congrats though. 8 Day warning till inactivity for me so, back to ranked I go after the semi's!

Had to play 10 games to get back to 100 LP. I guess after not being able to carry a 3v5 the matchmaker decided I needed to be clamped. Whatever, won four in a row and cruised into the third series.

Carried the first game easily because Amumu's a tanky little boss. Then I get stomped in next two, stomp the fourth and then lose what was basically a 4v5. All because the matchmaker is completely unable to deal with duo queues properly.

Why do Riot still allow Platinum players to queue for ranked with Bronze players? What possible purpose could that serve? Even high Gold to low Silver is an entire division of skill difference the matchmaker just can't deal with. Either the high rated guy stomps the shit out of his lane and hard carries or the low rated guy feeds like he's working at a soup kitchen and his friend can't deal with it. Either way it's a completely one sided game that's completely unfair for the other 8 people in the game.

Welcome to why I just avoid ranked now that the season's ending - though understandably everyone wants to get Gold and you've got my sympathy for this shitty system.

Duo's are either people boosting, people playing with friends, or a mixture of both and 9/10 it's both. Nearly every game I'd have or be against a duo and it just takes the fun out of a game when they have a low silver or we get a high plat player and vice versa.

A part of me hopes they'll ban people from duoing if they're not in the same tier as each other, I don't care if it screws you & your friends over - you wanna play together and one of you sucks at ranked? Make a smurf account and enjoy your bronze games. Unfortunately Riot think it's fine to have people do this - though there's one guy who bugs me more that I'll never play against; a player in Bronze V with the MMR to play in Diamond I - he just dodges promo's.

Guys. I have crossed a line that perhaps I should not have. I have done it. There is no going back, after this.

    I played him in ranked.

    That's is absolutely hilarious.

SKT vs Najin tonight, who do you guys think will win? I think Piglet and Faker can carry SKT to a 3-1 victory.

Another Amumu stomp and Series Four begins.

Game 1: Plat IV Zac and Silver IV Leona duo queue on the enemy team.

    Fuck.

Game 2: Gold I Vi and Silver I Blitzcrank duo queue on the enemy team.

    Fuck!

Game 3: Gold I Udyr and Silver II Leona duo queue on the enemy team.

    FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!

Luckily I played Trundle top all three games and stomped the shit out of anyone who dared to fight me. Well... except for the last game. For that one I was stuck in lane for half an hour against Shen. Infinite ranged harass and two early kills from ulting bot lane meant I was in for a miserable game. I told everyone to ignore top lane and win the other lanes, built a Tiamat and tried not to die. I ended up taking two of Shen's towers, interrupting the rest of his ults with Pillar of Frost's new knockup and ended the game with a respectable score of 0/4/2. And a report from Morgana, who thought I was intentionally feeding and that my build was terrible.

Whatever. Goodbye Lux's Swords, hello Nunu's Commandos. Gold V. I thought I'd feel happy, but no. Just a heavy sigh of relief that I don't have to play ranked anymore. There's bugger all chance of me getting to Platinum in a month, so I'm done. I'll play one ranked game to make sure I don't decay and that's it.

And I won't leave it until the last month for Season 4.

    Congratz.

I got up to Gold 3 100 LP, but lost in 2 straight so now I'm at 70 LP. Hoping to get to Plat before the Season ends, but it'll take a serious grind...

People honestly hate too much on duo queues. Sure, the higher elo will probably carry, but there's a good chance the lower elo is "useless" or far below your own mmr as well. People complain about having terrible teammates all the time, and how it becomes 4v5. That's essentially what the "higher elo" player would have to deal with. Granted, it's certainly possible, but unless the "lower" elo player actually belongs in a higher division, it's not quite so easy to simply carry them out.

That's why people hate on them. It always makes for a one sided game. It's made worse by the matchmaker usually deciding to compensate for the low rated player by stacking the rest of the team with higher rated players. One team of all Silver II players going up against a Plat IV, a Bronze I and three Gold III players is not a fair match, but it's something the matchmaker loves to throw out.

There's no way to accurately rate the effective MMR of a mismatched duo queue. It completely breaks the system and shouldn't be allowed.

I agree that it's not quite so easy to carry a partner out. They definitely have to be at least in the range of that division. However, I hate that duo queues allow such a mismatch. It's just not fun.
A winning duo queue is usually the higher person carrying while the second does decently or better. You also get stuck with 3 others who are worse than the other team's average. This basically leads to lots of stomps and rarely any kind of close game.

Edit: What ElDee said. He put it in words better than me.

But it doesn't happen like that though, (at least it's not common for that to happen). Usually, you get more along the lines of a Plat V, a Silver I, and 3 Gold III vs a team of Gold Is to Gold Vs. (Assuming, of course, the MMRS are where they are suppose to be).

In general, duo queues works the same as it has before in season two. A 1800 queue with a 1400 will go against an average of 1600 elo players on the other team too. If anything, it's more that the divisions are deceptive of where players actually stand in rating.

The point I DO agree with though, is it really sucks for the player that has to lane against the higher elo person. But, in the end, the matches are generally more fair than people realize.

(Remember though, what I just said would not occur when it's a duo queue with a high elo + a low elo player that doesn't belong where he is. But, the bright side about those duo queues, is that they usually rise up in ranking pretty fast, so they don't stay a problem. But, at the end of the season, you do get more of the "don't belong in their elo" types, causing frustrations. But then agian, those same people can usually win solo queues on their own too, so not much changes besides that it's more noticeable due to the duo queue.

Went on a six-win streak today, getting about 7 lp per win. Lost one game because a Fiddlesticks decided to troll and lost 33 lp. I dont even.

I get that there's probably a rational explanation behind it, but seriously? Fuck this stupid system. Way to make all of my hard work feel completely fucking useless. This is why I don't even feel motivated to fucking play ranked.

The main problem with duo is the (likely) RT communication between the two. There's no real compensation for how much that increases "effectice" mmr

    :awesome
You say that like the team with the duo is the one more likely to win. This is almost never the case.

This means your MMR is way below your league. If you keep playing it'll normalize.
