I'm looking for a Harry/Hermione fic that has some political themes to it with regards to Magical Britain. Read a fic where seats on the Wizengammot was mentioned it, and it might be interesting backstory for a fic. Something that more mature readers might find interesting and more mentally stimulating.

Wouldn't mind if it's also a Harry/Luna or Harry/Fleur, just not Harry/Ginny (can't stand it for some reason).

I think DrT had a couple of political H/Hr fics over on Fiction Alley. He's usually alright for politics if he can resist getting into weird sexual stuff.

 

I wrote a one-shot of this sort. Caveat: while Harry and Hermione are the primary characters, they are not in a relationship.

Eh, some enjoy H/Hr. Most just hate the term Harmony. But yeah, most seem to enjoy fleur, tonks, or Luna pairings and don't read a lot of H/Hr. Most just like quality, unless it's slash.

 

I like Harry/Hermione. Can't think of many that fit your criteria though. But then I don't really care for politics that much. It's definitely not something I actively look for or consider in a story.

 

H/Hr suffers from much the same stigma as H/G on DLP. It's not so much a hatred for the pairing itself, it's a hatred for the endless reams of the most awful writing imaginable that is so coveted by the average champions of those pairings.

Anyway, I don't use the term Harmony myself, I usually refer to H/Hr, but since I'm new, and see the term being used out there in other forums, I'd thought I'd use it. Guess I learned my lesson and will be using H/Hr from now on.. lol

Been looking at Harry/Fleur lately, but with the limited selection, I've found myself going back to H/Hr since there are more fic choices available.

BTW, I think it's awesome that DLP has such an active member base that I get replies within hours of replying. Looks like a good forum to be active in.

 

The problem with H/Hr fics is that they usually involve Hermione using her super mindpowers to completely get the best of the entire wizarding world, and when it comes to politics, you can almost be guaranteed it's either going to be that, or her being some activist trying to get rights for everything, and it's really hard for people to write either of those realistically, and instead you get stompfests. And yes, that was a really long run on sentence.

 

I love the pairing, to be honest, but I cannot think of a single fic that fits your description. Most fics with the two of them usually have bashing of one kind or another. They'll fall in love within about 2 chapters... Gah.

If you do find any good stuff, please share, cause I'd really like to read it.

And yes, "Harmony" may be better than similar terms but it still hurts my brain.

While 'Harmony' is a bit annoying, it pales in comparison to 'Snarry' and 'Drarry', the two most wretched neoligisms in the fandom. (My contempt for the terms is nearly as high as for those who read stories of those types.)
