Exactly what it says. In all of the anime/manga you've watched or read, what are some of your favorite, most memorable moments? It can be anything, a death, a comedic scene, a fight, anything.

I'll list a couple of mine, to start off. First, I think one of the most memorable moments I've watched in anime is maybe one that seems a tad unexpected. But it was that one episode in Air Gear, where they're facing off against SabelTiger and it's Kazu's turn race. At first, he asks Agito to take his place, but after a bit of a speech from Ikki, he resolves to do it. And then he turns out to be the fastest one there.

That whole scene has always been memorable and is one of my favorites.

For another moment, the one scene in the Persona 4 Anime. That King's game scene just made me laugh and I'll always be able to remember it.

The first anime I watched was DBZ. When Gohan is fighting Cell and is the first to go to SSJ2-mode (or whatever it was), well, I thought that was awesome. If I was to watch that now it probably wouldn't stick in my mind, but it does b/c it was one of the first HELL YEAH moments in anime I experienced.

Others? There's several in FMA:Brotherhood, though I could be biased as this is my favorite anime/manga. Hughes, Nina, the realization that Ed is short for a reason, Mustang's face when Envy shows how he managed to catch Hughes off-guard... Pretty much this entire series was fantastic.

Those are the only two that immediately came to mind. I'm gonna sit here and come up with a few more, but (1) if they didn't come to mind immediately they weren't quite as awesome in my mind, and (2) I haven't seen that much anime anyway compared to most of you.

Hunter X Hunter when Gon manages to steal the badge from, uh, Clown!Dude. I liked that because Gon was completely and totally outmatched but still managed it by being clever and talented. There might have been some luck in there too, but it wasn't stupid luck and Clown!Dude didn't come off as OOC for falling for it.

Rurouni Kenshin when Yahiko has taken Kenshin's sword and Kenshin needs it, like right now, and Yahiko damn near kills himself trying to get it back to Kenshin in time. I remember one or two other flashes of scenes from this, that seemed awesome, but the details elude me.

I've also read InuYasha and Naruto, though nothing is coming to mind as being stand-out about either (even though I mostly liked both). I got partway through Bleach before getting bored. I'm surprised I can't come up with anything for Naruto. Inuyasha a few scenes come to mind, but nothing worth typing out.

I only read/watched a little of One Piece, couldn't get into it, but one of my friends linked me this video while trying to get me to watch it. It was enough to get me to try 2-3 episodes, since that dude's backstory seemed like it could be epic. The ending sort of counts as a favorite moment, and it's still the only thing I associate with One Piece (except for stupid images of Luffy being stupid and stretchy).

Not sure if this counts, but I'd say the whole dark evolution sequence for Guilmon in Digimon Tamers is still memorable to me; you're got Impmon's sudden return in the form of a violent mega gunning for their deaths, Leomon's brutal murder right before their eyes as he takes the blow for the kids, Jeri's point-blank view of Beelzemon's claws through her partner's chest and resultant anguish, the other Tamers general horror, and then you have Takato -- the sweet, normally kind of whimpy leader of the group go into a rage and sudden thirst for vengeance, forcing Guilmon to evolve twice and then, desperate for more, WarGrowlmon to evolve at long last into his supposed mega level - and even Takato is taken aback and horrified at what he just forced into being, his digivice cracking and falling apart, and the landscape starting to crumble about them all. And it <i>still</i> isn't enough to stop Beelzemon's threat, as he just steals more data and nearly kills Megidramon next.

It gave a rather hopeless vibe to those couple of episodes.

The Major's speech in the Hellsing Ultimate OVA. All 6 1/2 minutes of it. Seras becoming a true vampire as well.

I'm with Ched on FMA as well. Especially Mustang vs Lust.

The entirety of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Kittan's heroic sacrifice sticks most in my mind though.

Bang. Black Dog Serenade probably has the best moments, in my opinion.

Any time Lelouch succeeded with a hilariously complex plan.

Snap with Light Yagami, though especial mention goes to killing L.

Tamers has always been for me one of the darkest things in media in general, probably because I never got to see the end of it and so the last I saw Leomon's Tamer was a prisoner of that pink stuff and they couldn't save her no matter how hard they tried, not to mention what Zenzao said. Seriously, of all the horribly fucked up shit I've read or watched as an adult, that's still the darkest to me, or one of anyways.

The opening speech of the original FMA, but I don't remember if it was present in Brotherhood at all or in any form really, it's been a few years. In brotherhood, the first episode in the North is really memorable to me as well as the very end, I can watch the wrapup parts of that finale and it almost always brings tears to me, I'm just that attached to the Elrics :3

But there is one word from an anime that is so truly etched in my mind and memorable because it's part of one of the only events in fiction that upsets me so much I refuse to accept it. "Bang"

Some memorable scenes I can recall for now (some spoilers probably):

    - The ending scenes of the first episodes of both seasons of Code Geass (in S1 where he first gets his Geass power, and in S2 when he has his memory unlocked again).

    - Alucard lifting his power restrictions to Level Zero, and then his flashback to his past in Hellsing Ultimate.

    - Asuka's awakening from her catatonia and the subsequent battle in The End of Evangelion, as well as the final scene.

    - Sayaka's transformation into a Witch and the sequence where Madoka finally makes her wish in Puella Magi Madoka Magica (particularly the movie version of the former, it has better music).

    - The scene where Tetsuo telekinetically lifts the entire massive containment ball from the underground complex in Akira.

    - The final scene of Gunbuster.

    - The last fight scene between Vincent and Spike in Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door.

All of these are awesome moments. I'm glad to see the variety in people most memorable/favorite moments.

So i got a couple more to add.

    1) That scene in The Wave Arc of Naruto and Sasuke had just taken all those senbon for Naruto. They both think he's about to die and he asks Naruto to carry out his dream for vengeance and Naruto goes berserk with the Kyuubi's chakra for the first time.

    2) Another Naruto one and even just a bit later when Zabuza tears into the band of mercenaries hired by Gato. The scene cemted Zabuza firmly as a bad-ass in my mind, especially when he just tears out gato's throat.

    3) The death of Pip Bernadotte. Need I say more?

    4) In Soul Eater, when Maka goes crazy from the Black Blood in Soul.

    5) From the same series....Excalibur.

    6) Samurai Champloo, the last two fight scenes.

    7) One of the first anime's I watched, FLCL...at the end, when Naota takes Atomsk's power for himself and then proceeds to fight Haruko, only to stop and confess that he loves her.

I have more, but I don't want to makes this too long.

Okay. So I've watched a metric fuckton or two of anime - and there's a huge number of moments that really stuck with me throughout the years. This is going to be a huge TL;DR. Here goes.

-Lutris' Top 10 Favorite Anime Moments-
    (In no particular order.)

    01. Renton and Eureka's reunion. // Psalm of Planets: Eureka Seven // Episode 26: Morning Glory - Youtube Link
I'm a BONES fanboy. There's no way around that. I've loved almost every show that gets churned out of that studio, and their earlier stuff is especially fantastic. Eureka Seven is one of those shows that gets compared to older, more iconic programs in anime (most often Neon Genesis Evangelion), but that doesn't do it justice. E7 is at its heart a coming-of-age story and love story wrapped up in a big, fat, air-boarding mecha burrito with kick-ass production values and amazing animation.

Morning Glory is the turning point of the 52-episode show, when Eureka and Renton finally reunite. Midair. In a war zone. Against two mercenaries who've become like family to Renton. And just. It's fantastic. I've got a total boner for the animation work in this episode.

    02. Pikachu's tears. // Pokemon The Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Youtube Link
Near the end of the film, Ash intervenes in an all-out psychic brawl between Mew and Mewtwo, getting turned to stone for his efforts. Pikachu futilely attempts to wake him up, only to fail. Tears fall. Emotions run high. I remember watching this in theaters for the first time when I was a kid - I still get struck at how significant the scene was, despite the fact that it was a fucking Pokemon film.

    03. The fall of the Dragonslayers. // The Vision of Escaflowne // Episode 14: Dangerous Wounds - Youtube Link
Van Fanel heads out to combat the Dragonslayers, seriously wounded and desperate, armed in the Escaflowne. He ends up massacring the entire enemy task force in a blood lust-fueled, manic burnout of a battle, before succumbing to his wounds as he sees the ghosts of his victims. One of my favorite moments of the series, especially given the extremely Mary Sue protagonist. But the drama! And the anguish! And the murder! (Note: The clip is in German.)

    04. Hachi's proposal. // PLANETES // Episode 26: And The Days We Chance Upon... - Youtube Link
Following up on the romantic tones - from PLANETES, the final scene of the show. Spoilers if you're concerned. This scene comes after a long, long ride, and is quite possibly the most emotionally touching scene I've enjoyed so far. It's Ai's first EVA since her traumatic incident at the Moon - and. Well. It's just friggin' cute and I'm a hopeless romantic. So sue me.

    05. Kittan's death. // Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann // Episode 25: I Accept Your Last Wish! - Youtube Link
Raw raw, fight the power. Kittan's death. 'nuff said. Props to Aekiel for mentioning this scene already.

    06. Amuro and Char's final confrontation and the Axis Shock. // Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack - Youtube Link
Amuro and Char's final moments. The amount of character development, and the depth of the interactions between the two rivals that goes on in the backdrop of the fall of the asteroid Axis is incredible. The incredible number of pilots from both Federation and Neo Zeon factions that give their lives in spite of Char's vendetta is amazing as well. A classic moment that's stayed with me for years and years.

    07. Gato's return to Solomon. // Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory // Episode 09: The Nightmare of Solomon - Youtube Link
Major Anavel Gato returns to the battleground of Solomon to exact his revenge, and to detonate a nuclear missile during a military exercise to deal a blow against the Federation in hopes of rekindling the Zeonic movement. SOLOMON. I HAVE RETURNED. 'nuff said.

Actually, not enough said. This moment highlights how utterly despicable men haunted by war can be, and despite Gato's high-minded rhetoric and established ideals, truly drives home the central message of the original Gundam franchise: War's shit, and people are shit. Try to be less shitty so we don't all kill each other in a hopeless, if epic clash of dangerously massive robots.

    08. The final battle against the Zentraedi and PROTOCULTURRREEEEEEE. // Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? - Youtube Link
Hikaru's final run into the Zentraedi mothership. Just. Ugh. The directing. The fucking animation. And the song. The fucking /song/. Do you remember love, motherfuckers?

    09. The tank battle. // Ghost in the Shell - Youtube Link
Words aren't needed, I think. A fucking cinematic masterpiece. And. The Major. The goddamn Major.

    10. The final scene. // Aim For The Top!/Gunbuster, and Aim For The Top 2!/Diebuster // The last episodes. - Youtube Link
Props to Red Aviary. You're a bro for mentioning this. All the creys. Just. All the creys. WELCOME HOME. As one astute Youtuber put it: "I still believe that the whole point of Diebuster was to animate this particular scene. Everything else was just an excuse."

I wanted to say Gundam but for me the problem is that even though I'm a UC fanboy to the core, I love most of the series (though Wing has too many wtf moments for me to take it seriously and SEED Destiny was pretty awful imo) and I can't really pick any specific points. Or more accurately I have so many, because yeah the Axis Shock is amazing, and probably the best/MOST memorable, it's not my favorite. I don't have one.

I love Gundam, I buy every shitty PS3 game they put out and I desperately want to get the ones that are only released in Japan. I've loved Gundam since I started watching First Gundam on Toonami at the age of 7 or 8, Gundam is pretty much my favorite thing ever. I can't really coherently talk about it because I get too excited.

As in a heavy Gundam influence is what has finally got my massive AU HP fanfic idea off the ground (no, no mechs, that'd be ridiculous), and it's going to be fucking amazing because space!politics, and moon colonies, and evolution of humanity/wizardkind. Because Gundam

Gundam for best anime franchise ever D8

Cowboy Bebop, Faye corners Spike before he can leave at the end. Probably the single greatest moment in any show for me -

"I'm not going there to die, I'm going to find out if I'm really alive." The whole scene is so intense. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSLfBR4D0Hg

    Moments that weren't mentioned already:

    - The White House scene and saving Tokio from missiles scene in Eden of the East.

    - A flying scene at the beginning of Howl's Moving Castle.

    - Lelouch's last words in Code Geass.

    - Seiya saves Athena for a first time in Saint Seiya. It was in episode where he escapes their pursuers by jumping off the cliff.

    - The Transformers: The Movie if it counts as an Anime since it's a join project. Optimus Prime's fate and Hot Rod defeating Unicron.

    - Final fight in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

    - Toothbrush scene from Nisemonogatari.

    - Son Goku's transformation into SSJ in Dragon Ball Z.

    - End of the world in End of Evangelion.

    - Ah! My Goddess: The Movie. All of it. :)

Eh, trying to mention things that haven't been said before.

    Bleach:
-Ichigo vs Aizen. As much as I enjoyed the Karakura Town fight, there's someone about watching a character you've enjoyed watching grow sacrifice one of the key aspects of his person, something he'd used to protect his loved ones for in order to end a threat.

    Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children:
-Might not be classed as an anime as such, but even still. The extended version's fight with Sephiroth was something that truly stuck with me.

    Berserk:
-Griffith sacrificing all his friends in order to fulfill his dream. Watching all those characters that you've become attached to be slaughtered one by one and the two survivors becoming broken. That, was memorable.

    Rebuild Of Evangelion 2.22/ Ending

    SPOILER:

Shinji destroys the world to save the girl. I watched the scene at Fanime and the amount of cheering that single scene got was amazing and made me appreciate Anno's genius even more since 3.33.

Giving the fans exactly what they want and making them hate it.

    Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei\ Opening Scene

The intro to Itsuki's despair and Shinbo's art direction. Both of them are masterful.

Spoilers. But that kind of comes with the territory I'd think.

Berserk: Episode 5 - Guts first argument with Casca. When Casca accuses Guts of not caring about his men. This enrages Guts. This one scene told us a lot about Guts as a character.

Attack on Titan - When Eren saves Armin, and is subsequently eaten. That's the strongest image of his willpower to date. Also, when Levi is confronted by Petra's father.

Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works - The battle between Emiya and Archer was the best part of the otherwise story-less movie. The battle was the one time the story from the novel really shown through.

FMA: Brotherhood - Wrath versus Scar. Everything Wrath says here. Right up to his death.

Fist of the North Star - Juza of the Clouds vs Raoh. Specifically when Juza attacks Raoh despite being dead.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - When Joseph pulls a tommy gun. This is where the anime came alive for me. After the super melodrama and 'gentlemen' attitude of Jonathan and company and the build up of Dio as the big bad vampire, Joseph pulls a tommy gun on a vampire made the very same way as Dio. And then uses grenades. It's hilarious.

Clannad: Nagisa dying and Tomoya and Ushio in the grass.

    5cm/sec: the railtrack scene

Madoka: Homura saying basically time and time again...

I'm going to say yes to the first 2 that Lutris listed. And then I'm going to throw in the the end of Gundam 08th MS Team.

    Especially the bit at 5:52

First time I ever got the shivers watching anything. And then the thought... "They made it. They're finally together."

    EDIT: Got some more.

    Outlaw Star: Hilda's Death

Yu Yu Hakusho: DAT ENDING Although to be honest there are so many fucking moments in this show. Genkai's death, Sensui, Kurama's cold blooded handling of Elder Toguro. 100% that last one

Big O: Cast in the name of God. Ye Not Guilty

Lelouch takes over the world - video. Just epic. All hail Lelouch!

The death after summoning Caster in Fate/Zero - video. That realy drove the point that this show, will be brutal as hell. Also, I was a little shocked that they almost showed a very brutal death scene of a small kid.

The final scene from Epiosde 10 of Angel Beats! I would recommend watching the series in one sitting, or at least, the last four episodes.

So I have some more, some of which are mentioned above or referred to.

The end of season 2 of Geass

Most of EoE, I have a friend that I can play Komn Susser Tod to and he flips the fuck out and starts swearing, and honestly if someone got me with it I'd do the same...

Almost everything in Gundam 0080 War In The Pocket, watched it as a kid, was some heavy shit.

Couple scenes in 00, especially the first use of Trans-Am, which I'm pretty sure was during the battle in the desert. What happens to Lock-on in season 1, and the reintroduction of the character in season 2 was even bettter

Watching Zeta about 5 years after 00 and really getting how heavily 00 (Season 2 especially) borrowed from Zeta but also how much more I love 00

Mustang Vs Lust in Brotherhood, I had avoided Brotherhood after watching the pilot because I didn't like the art as much compared to the first series, then I saw this "battle" while catching Brotherhood since nothing else was on and I was totally hooked, I watched the whole series in a few days as soon as I got my hands on a copy.

I'm curious if anyone has any specific experiences outside just watching the movies? watching EoE with my friend was in itself a really surreal insane experience.
