    Yo.

My computer is starting to shit itself via a torrent of blue screens, so rather than just reinstall the OS and continue as normal I'm going to rebuild it.

I'm all for any suggestions, but I'd prefer if you elaborate on why a particular item would be more suited, and hopefully have it on the same website. Saves me time over all. :awesome

My current build is as such:

    CASE: Thermaltake Urban Midtower
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=23021

    CPU: i7 4820K
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=24965

    MOBO: ASUS P9X79 Pro
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=18777

    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-1866C10Q-32GXL (4x8GB) 32GB DDR3
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=21328

    HDD: Crucial M500 240GB SSD
    (+ Crucial 68gb + 1tb + 1tb)
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=24841

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Dual SC ACX 4GB
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=24726

PSU: Corsair RM-850 80 Plus Gold Power Supply
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=25691

CPU COOLER: NZXT Kraken X40 140mm AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=24465

    I'll be cannibalising things from my current computer such as;

    HDD's
    Soundcard
    Fan Controller
Disc Drive (may upgrade to a BluRay Player, not sure yet.)

Why X79/LGA2011? You're only using 17 lanes and the 4820K has only 4 cores. The PSU, while reviewed well, is made by Chicony which has never made high quality PSUs before so I'm a bit weary of them. The 650W version is made by Channel Well Technology and is more than enough for what you've listed.

Other than that, looks pretty good.

EDIT: Here's a partslist I just put together that should match your needs. You lose Hyper-threading but most everything else is either more cost effective or better performance.

Upgrade path mainly. If you have another option I'll gladly hear you out and take it on board.

the PSU is a place holder, my current one is a Cooler Master Modular 850 from like 5 years ago and it's still going good. I thought I'd get something similar. The main thing I look for in a psu is it being modular.

Are you buying from that website? Just took a quick look at the GPU and even without rebates (Since they might not work outside US), its 90$ cheaper on NCIX and 64$ cheaper on Newegg. Pretty sure they don't ship outside US, but you might be able to use a package forwarder and still save a nice amount on some smaller parts.

Also do you need 32 GB RAM? If its just for gaming, I'd say go with 16 GB and it would be more than enough.

If I'm not wrong, the only upgrade path you've got with X79/LGA2011 is the 4930K or 4960X and you're probably not going to fork out the cost of those down the line. The next chipset will be X99/LGA2011-3 and current LGA2011 CPUs will not be compatible with it.

The RM-650 is fully modular and will serve you well unless you decide to go multi-GPU. Stick with the RM-850 if you think you might go down that route in future. Also, check the wishlist in the edit above.

    EDIT:
NCIX ship to Australia, but the shipping fees are killer, even with package forwarding. More importantly, you don't get warranty on products bought overseas unless they specifically state it's global. If you do pay for RMA protection with the package forwarder, it'll take longer to process the RMA and that's on top of the longer delivery times from the US/Canada to Australia in the first place.

32GB of RAM for gaming is absolute overkill. Hell, 16GB is overkill for a machine dedicated to only gaming though if you're going to use it as a general purpose workstation with gaming thrown in the mix, it's not bad to have.

The 'A Machine for Gaming' bit was just a title. I also do graphics work, video editing and encoding and a bunch of other stuff which it helps with. Admittedly It probably is overkill. My current machine has 16gb. Was going to use it for another computer that I'm building out of the old one, but I can always use the current ram and buy cheaper one for the second one.

That changes everything. That sort of workload benefits immensely from hyper-threading and extra cores, necessitating sticking with X79/LGA2011 if you want absolute performance (if you're willing to pay, that is). If you are willing to pay for a 4930K or higher, there's still the problem of the motherboards not supporting it out of the box (they need their UEFI updated to support Ivy Bridge-E, PCCG charge $25 to do this for you).

If you do this for a living, I suggest you go up to the 4930K/X79 motherboard combo, otherwise go with a 4770K/Z87 motherboard.

All Corsair AX (not AXi) below 1200W and TXv2 are made by Seasonic.
