The worst part about this is that he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. He was leaving a charity event, when the crash occurred. I can't imagine what his family is going through. At one point, people were hoping that it was an elaborate hoax, but no avail.

Maybe this thread should be moved to Real Life Discussion. After seeing that all the other threads of a similar nature are posted in that subforum, perhaps we should move this thread since Multimedia is more for general merriment anyway.

I'm really bummed about this. Probably the first celebrity death I gave a damn about.

Saw the first Fast and Furious movie when I was a kid and have been a fan of his since then. He's always been into cars and motorsport. From what I read, the place he crashed into was a turn a lot of people sped/drifted at, and the Carrera GT has had problems in past. Bad combination of circumstances. :/

    Race In Peace

Legitimately feel sorry for everyone involved. My brother-in-law died the exact same way in July, fire and all. It's the fire bit that'll get to them, due to not really getting to see the body properly, and accept that it's real.

Seemed like a decent guy, so sad loss. But by God I fucking hated those movies and the fucking douche bags who tried to emulate them by revving their engines at lights and tearing up roads at 3am.

Considering their death might be due to that exact behavior, it might be a lesson for some of those 'douche bags'.

Just watched an interview with one of his friends that tried to pull him from the wreckage. Seems he was alive but was unconcious. Fuck, what a way to die.

    It's a damn shame.

He seemed like a good bloke, and a genuine car enthusiast too. He'd go to track days, make pilgrimages to famous workshops in Japan, etc, which is pretty cool to see from a celebrity.

Wasn't even him driving the car when it crashed... =(

Edit: Thought I'd post this video up, which was a message he made to the people of the Phillipines at the charity event just before he died.

Edit 2: Looks like the guy who was driving the car was an experienced race car driver in his own right, also leaving behind a family of 3.

Extremely sad. I remember watching an interview of him where he gushed about how much he loved his baby daughter.

It's a real shame to hear about a guy like this dying. I hadn't known much more about him than what he had done with the Fast and Furious films, but reading some today has opened my eyes a little to how he really was.

It's a real shame, considering I really liked his acting and he seemed one of the few genuinely good blokes on the industry. The world is a poorer place with his passing. May he rest in peace.

Still, there is a(shamefully big) part of me that is cheering for the (hopefully) termination of the Fast&Furious series. If this won't stop it, nothing will.

Why does everybody hate them? I think they were great. Maybe not the most elegant or sophisticated, but great all the same.

Have to agree. Probably the best popcorn flicks for cars. And it won't end it. They've filmed the majority of the 7th.

Plus they have compiled a large ensemble for the run. I bet they make double digits films.

Damned shame, he was one of the few genuinely good guy celebs in Hollywood. My condolences to his little girl :(.
