Since I haven't found any story to read like this, I've decided to make it a challenge and hope someone good do write it.

1- Dumbledore tells harry about the prophecy in his first or second year. He trains him to fight Voldemort ( sort of like an apprentice).

2-Harry is a metamorphmagus.

3- Dumbledore dies in year 6 and Harry uses his Metamorphmagus abililty and takes his place as not to cause panic.

4- Be creative about it.

 

how do you explain harry's disappearence? Wouldn't the people who know DD the best notice the differences in DD's? What about the DE's? They will know dumbledore is gone..

 

I think if Dumbledore taught Harry for five years, he would be familiar enough to act like Dumbledore if he wished. In Goblit of Fire, Barty Crouch Jr. fooled Dumbledore, even though Dumbledore knew Moody and like you said, wouldn't Dumbledore be able to tell the difference between a fake moody and the real one?

I think if Barty Crouch Jr. could fool Dumbledore into believing that he was the real Moody, I don't think it would be hard for Harry to fool people into believing he was Dumbledore.

Edit:

If HP is missing, it wouldn't cause as much panic as when Dumbledore is dead. He is regarded by the wizarding world as the wizard Voldemort feared above all others.

YOu could easily use that old plot bunny of having the story do the rounds that Harry is in hiding for training. So long as there were the occassional public sightings of harry, all would be good. Something else that could be quite amusing for the dramatic irony, would be if Harry had someone else in on his secret (perhaps for kicks lets jsut say Flitwick) and Harry had them drink some polyjuice with some of his natural hair in it, then a Press Conference was held with both harry and dumbledore present, or they both go to the Ministry or something similar.

 

That would be a brilliant idea. I searched for a story that fits this description but i found either someone demanding hundreds of reviews for a chapter or he will never update, which he abandoned after that or none at all. I am hoping that someone would try and write something similar.
