You have three wishes. What do you wish for?

Rules:

- No meta-wishes.
- No multi-wishes (i.e. a wish that really is wishing for multiple things, e.g. omnipotence, or HP magic).
- The wish-granter isn't an arsehole looking to screw you over.


My three wishes:

- Body at the absolute peak of the human range in every respect (physically, medically, mentally, aesthetically).

- Supernatural mental ability. This includes all aspects of mental ability: logical-mathematical intelligence, musical, linguistic, kinaesthetic, perfect recall, immunity to all mental illness.

- Reincarnation. Upon death I am reincarnated into any body of my choosing throughout history (including my own, looping my existence Groundhog day style). The other two wishes carry over across reincarnations.


I feel these wishes are a perfect balance between making life awesome and keeping it interesting.

 

1. I would wish help with trying to figure out what my own purpose of life is.
2. I would request help with doing it.

What is meant by these meta-wishes? I don't get it.

 

1 & 2 are really good wishes. I don't think I'd ever want reincarnation though.

1. A world with near to zero violence; disputes are taken up via pokemon battles because that is hilarious.
2. A world where science reigns supreme; i.e. self-delusional, stupid people take a step down.
3. I think I would ask for a really cool, super-useful power that the genie (an infinite all-knowing being) believes would make my life exponentially better. Why? Because I like Russian Roulette.

Is the 3rd one a meta-wish? I have no idea.

 

A meta-wish is a wish about wishes, Radmar.

 

1. Mind control.
2. Control over my physical body. As in, I can make my body older or younger at will. In this way, I am immortal without being locked in a certain age.
3. Time-travel.

Edit: Taure, I think your first two wishes are textbook multiwishes.

 

1. To know if there is the Reason for our existence.

2. If there is none, make it that there is one.

3. Ensure that it's something nice and cool, not mean and horrible.

I suppose superpowers would be awesome, but my existential doubts wouldn't let me fully enjoy them when I could instead finally get the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything that's preferably is not just 42.

 

Any wish can be reasoned out to be a "multi-wish". E.g. your "control my body" could be argued to be a composite of control over each individual aspect of the body. Control over hair, eye colour, age, gender, build, etc.

I think the acid test to avoid ridiculous levels of nitpicking is "Can you get what you want without having to go into detail of the specifics of what you want?"

So when I say "I want a perfect body" I get all of the things I want without having to explicitly say "by the way that includes medical perfection", because any reasonable definition of "perfect body" would include a perfect immune system (which is unambiguously part of the body). By the same measure, when I say I want a supernaturally good mind, the description I give includes nothing that is not part of the most obvious definition of a good mind - intelligence, memory, freedom from disease, etc.

Same with your body control. "I want complete control over my body" is more or less an obvious wish without the need for specifics.

An example of a multi-wish:

"Immortality, which is both eternal youth and invulnerability to physical harm, and invulnerability to disease, including mental degeneration."

Celestin: I was relying on my supernatural intelligence and ability to loop human history to supply me with the answers to all the deep questions.

 

This is as close to world peace as any wish is likely to grant.

1. Money
2. Power.
3. Wisdom.

 

Strictly speaking while I'm interested in these answers, it's more important to me to make sure that they exist and are worthwhile for us.

 

1:Super hero powers of some sort, probably something ridiculously shounen esque
2:Immortality i.e never ending youth
3:Time travel considering that while I may be immortal, the planet isn't.

 

1. Unlimited, unrestricted, teleportation.
2. Universal Fluency
3. The ability to shapechange at will.

Basically what I'd want to do is go anywhere, talk to anyone, and be anything. Absolute freedom to pursue a life of adventure. Not wishing for immortality or anything extreme, just the chance to enjoy life to it's absolute fullest. Nothing more, nothing less.

 

Lots of good wishes already!

1. Travel and experience the worlds (properly so as a PC not as an NPC) from my favorite books and movies
2. The ability to make fantastical things or bring them from books\films into our world
3. Time\space machine with ability to redo things

 

1) Sex
2) Drugs
3) Rock and Roll.

 

1. Immortality, as in eternal youth - won't die of old age, but can still take a bullet to the brain or die of cancer; keepin' it real
2. Eidetic memory
3. Potterverse magic - and before someone tells me it's a multi-wish, take a look at Taure's OP

 

Am I the only one whose terrified of immortality?
1.I would wish to be there when we find and communicate with other life forms and see how life is on other galaxies.

2.Know all that secrets to the human body. DNA.

3.Visit and live in all habitable planets in the Universe.

 

Looks like it, yeah. Immortality is a great all around thing to wish for. Look at your wishes: immortality pretty much combines all three. If you're immortal, you'll live long enough to see us make contact with extraterrestrial life, you'll have enough time to amass influence/wealth to be able to visit all the planets you want and enough knowledge to learn all about the human body.

If/when you get bored with your endless existence, you just put a bullet in your head. I'd probably never do that though. Unless maybe there was a universe-wide cataclysm that left me as the last intelligent being in the universe...

...on second thought, I might just wait for new intelligent life to evolve. Replicate human race from my own DNA. Do a stint as a god for some primitives. You know, try everything the universe has to offer.

 

1. Permanent and enhanced Felix Feliciseffect.

2. A body and mind, that is considered very superior for humans in every way.(Intelligence, Strength, Speed, Stamina, ...)

3. No natural age-related degradation.(ie. impossible to die from natural causes)

 

Lots of wishes about immortality, I guess I think it'd be nice to have a small amount of really fun time and then join the stars or whatever there is.

 

1. To have the power to create whole new realities and explore them.

Of course, I can do that with writing

2. To be better than most- I don't need to be the greatest, just privileged enough to make it easier for me.

Hmm... white guy in 21st c. America, high IQ, good career, stable marriage...

3. To have beautiful women strip naked and do provocative, sexual things for my pleasure.
