Is there a decent fanfic story, where either the Statute of Secrecy was ended (either the masquerade was broken by, say, a REALLY massive attack of a Dark Lord (Voldemort or someone else) , was simply abolished as a law by the ICW or did end in any other way) or wasn't enacted to begin with?
I didn't find any such threads here on DLP, so there are either none or my Google-fu is weak.

 

I would like to see a decent story like this too. Every time I've seen it done they end up having total war that destroys everyone or even once every magical ends up enslaved by muggles. Completely ignoring how they could end up enslaved in the first place I don't like how they always write muggles as animals in such stories; perfectly okay will committing barbaric things.

 

That's why I wrote decent one... I'd love to read one with a lil friction at the beginning, but after a while, they'll start to get along and together lead human civilization to heights never fathomed before.

I third this idea. Assuming the Story doesn't either make one side monstrous savages while the other into perfect angels who win a War in the end, or just has them both live happily ever after in peace with nothing bad happening whatsoever, it could be pretty engaging to read this kind of Fic.

On another Forum I'm on, someone wrote a pretty long story where the Statute is broken in Harry's Fifth year. I didn't particularly like it, since it has way too much random Fanon and mostly took the HP-specific stuff out of the Story to the point where it was practically its own Magical world (with the exception of the bullshit final climax, complete with literal Hermione Jesus), but it was kind of cool reading about people on both sides tinkering around to see what kind of stuff they can do and learn by combining Magic and Technology.

 

Ambient by Calz fits the criteria. It's decent, but I don't like how there's not a single OC when the story could have really used them.

 

First thing that comes to is Emperor by Marquis Black. It's in the Library, Alternates section. Also the Dark Wars series by the same author.

 

Both those stories have their own problems, though. I remember reading them, and I swear, it's like he replaced Harry with Horatio (as in Sir Horatio Nelson). It gets boring after a bit. Very wordy, but not too good.

 

Reading anything by Marqis Black is like reading a less skilled Harry Turtledove. It acts as a history book with dull characters moving the plot forward. Or rather...interesting world and characters with dull writing. Very dry and little reason to connect with the characters.

His Naruto one with the Uzumaki clan seems to avoid this, but it has it's own faults
