A new Blizzard game.

Not sure about the game, but it would be a great Pixar-like movie.

 

That vid is pretty and all (really fucking pretty, even though that English girl's accent is pretty blegh), but it's the Gameplay Video that blew my fucking mind.

Totally hectic class base deathmatch shooter with ridiculous personality and visuals. Kind of like TF2, I guess? But with more classes and LoL-like abilities/heroes.

I had given up on Blizz when they cancelled Titan and continued to work on HotS, but this, this is fucking awesome.

Hope it comes to consoles though.

 

So it's basically another Unreal Tournament 2004. Only two of the characters interested me.

 

I just want the movie. I would totally watch it. Also I quite liked the girls voice.

 

It's not as twitchy and there's no team death match apparently.

Oh, and cockney girl is my main, she's essentially a FPS Leblanc, lol. She can teleport and also go back to where she was 3 seconds ago.

This looks pretty damn fun, I'm hoping to get into the Beta.

 

Yeah the trailer would have made for an interesting movie but game itself doesn´t seem that interesting or special. Vertical shooter gameplay will/can be found in most modern games and the fixed characters seem to massively limit customization.
I also find the character and level design a bit too childish for my tastes.

 

One could say the same about Dota or league. They stay interesting with loads of champions that all play differently, which is what I think this is going for.

 

The thing that stood out to me in the cinematic is that apparently all the weapons were toys, since they did absolutely nothing after like 5 minutes of continuous shooting.

They seem to very obviously not be going for a twitchy shooter, expect unrealistic bullet spongeyness, the very opposite of 'realistic' CoD and the like.

 

Except the only time when any bullets were actually on target throughout the entire trailer was when that monkey was being shot on his armor for a few seconds, even though three other characters were using weapons (two of them carrying two at the same time), and were usually no further from their target than a few meters.

Again, this is for the cinematic.

 

Blizzard Fortress 2 was my first thought when I saw the gameplay. Class-based (hero-based?) arena shooter.

Blizzard still are champions of game FMVs though.

 

TBH, while incorporating an innovative insertion of MOBA qualities into MMOFPS gameplay, I don't know that I'd end up enjoying it.

Too clusterfuck-y.

Also, 7th gen graphics do nothing for me at this point. I understand that Blizz develops a gen behind the times in order to cater to the hoard of laptop users that make up half of their audience, but I do wish they'd come out with a proper HD next-gen game as well, or at least one that could stay graphically relevant for more than a few years.

 

I take your first point, but couldn't disagree with your second point more.

There are plenty out studios out there doing hyper realistic, and that has it's place too. The colourful cartoony aesthetic is just a joy when done well.

That doesn't excuse not updating the animations in WoW.

 

I dunno, the gameplay made a lot of the classes look like paper.

Anyway, I have a soft spot for brawler type games like this. I hope it's good, but we'll see. I also hope it doesn't cost too much.


On another note: I think I may hate cinematic trailers.

@Khan: Meh. I feel art direction is more important than how advanced the graphics are. But to each his own.

"The game has some similarities to TF2, but it is still a very different game. TF2 has a limited number of roles with some more customization through weapon choices. Overwatch also has some more mobility, with some heroes that can fly or use grapple hooks. Overwatch is more about hero abilities than it is about putting a crosshair over the other heroes."

 

That would be because it's a cinematic. Cinematics are supposed to sell the idea of the game and look cool, not show realistic action. Characters seemed to go down pretty fast in the gameplay footage.

See TF2 and it's continued relevance after 7 years with a cartoony style. This is a step up from TF2 graphically - I don't think it'll have a problem staying relevant.

 

My first thought was it was pretty obviously a TF2 rip off, to the point of almost shameless.
