Is there a story, where Harry somehow "hacks" the horcrux in his head: reads Voldemort's memory and learns his magic, spies on Voldemort, controls Voldemort, kills Voldemort or does something with the horcrux I didn't think of?

Unfortunately the story sort of went off the rails in the last 20 chapters or so.

 

I think that story went off the rails waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before that.

 

There are tons of stories where Harry inherits something from the horcrux (e.g. Kmfrank's Unlocked Knowledge), but I've only ever seen one where Harry does it deliberately.

I can't believe I'm actually going to have to recommend this fic to someone lol. The Legacy.

 

It has been a long time since I read it.

 

He's up to over 500k words now. Has the plot actually moved somewhat, or are they still in Grimmauld?

 

No idea, I stopped reading somewhere around 350k words. It's entirely possible that the 150k words since then have only managed to cover a single week.

 

I imagine there's a lot of braid tugging and adjusting of skirts.

So far Harry has learned magical theory, new spells, and dueling instincts from his "emerald trance" which is probably the horcrux. The author has said Harry will learn new ways of using his emerald trance as the series progresses.

 

These are old, but they're the only ones I remember by name that haven't already been mentioned. I suggest you read them only if you're desperate, or if you like to exhaust 'new' concepts regardless of quality. I mean, I can't say they're awful because I don't remember them enough to give a verdict, but I'd safely bet they're low quality.

Harry Potter: Dark Memories by Blueowl. From what I remember, Voldemort's memories merge with Harry's, but Harry stays 'Light' (using 'Light' sounds annoying, and it probably is). He makes a DA that's more like a Death Eaters/Order of the Phoenix organization with a dash of Marauders thrown in. They come up with nicknames and everything (which also sounds stupid, but it was new to me at the time... not sure if they become animagi). I'm pretty sure there was a Harry/Dumbledore mentorship, so that's nice. No evil!Dumbledore there. And it's complete.

Harry Potter and the Sorting Hat's Gift by AntaresTheEighthPleiada. It's a WBWL twin fic. In a nutshell, the Sorting Hat unlocks Voldemort's memories, and Harry becomes distant with his twin when they find out Harry's actually the BWL. Or something like that. It's also complete.
