I agree with making money on DAI and DA2, I guess with the Lyrium potions exploit in DA:O along with the double selling and buying back one as well. The on thing that actually bothers me a bit is that they took out the coppers and silvers, it's all sovereigns (gold) now. I liked that system, it made it feel like having a single sovereign meant you had real money. So rather than have some axe sell for 21k (Which is a fucking ridiculous amount of sovereigns. Bartrands expedition needed on 50 to get funded.) Make it something like...shit what was the most expensive thing in DA:O? 300 something, going along with the old money system?

The player here isn't like the other in previous games; we've got an army, a castle, land, the whole shebang. Plus you gain a literal gold mine later in the game. So you should have tons of goddamn money.

On another note, has anyone been able to find console commands that work on the PC? I haven't found any.

The odd thing is, the war table missions that 'gather coin' return with maybe a couple hundred gold. That's fine, I don't mind that, but the cool things in the game cost a fuck load.

They should have brought all that back and thought up another, understandable gold sync.

Like beefing up your army/ castle. Buying property for your leadership. Bribes, etc.

Just finished first play through. My thoughts

Cassandra romance was heartbreaking. She was the best choice for divine and so left me. Second play through has gotta be Josie.

Morrigan getting all sweet about my Warden was awesome. Kieran's voice irked me, but all in all was good. Glad they kept the old God baby.

Flemeth/Mythal really threw me for a loop in her scene...but then the Dread Wolf (Solas) had me dropping my jaw and nearly waking up the family with my excitement/pain at the cliffhanger. I feel for the female elves who romanced him.

Knight Enchanter/Lightning tree is OP. Loved it.

I'll do another playthrough in a few days; but this is a 9/10 with my only complaints being a somewhat weak ending and some glitches in certain scenes on PS4. If this doesn't win Game of the Year I'll be very surprise.

Agreed. I like having the options as of now, it's just that it's not scalable. I'd also like DA:O Awakening's options of outfitting your troops and the like to return, silverite armor am I right? Not so much personalize them, just give them the means to make them top notch.

I haven't been able to play this for a few days, but before I pick it back up I'm thinking of restarting as a female elf. I got to the mage recruitment mission (which was cool) on my male elf rogue, but the lack of good romance options for him still irk me. A female has Solas (and possibly Cullen) going for them, and I don't think I'm too far in that restarting would be that much of a setback.

I actually kind of hate that fucking romance options of all things are making me reconsider at this point, but meh.

I'm also thinking of going for a mage while I'm at it, but with Dorian you've got three mages on the team already. Plus I can't help but think there's plenty of female Dalish First characters in the series as it is (Velanna, Merrill, Lanaya).

It looks like the available money was meant (as always in DA series) to gimp the player: you can't have all the cool stuff in one playthrough. It's a way of artificially adding replay value when really it's just irritating, at least to me. It seems like in DA:I you have to chose between customizing Skyhold with all the cool options and utility, as in high-end gear and crafting schematics, which is ridiculous.

At least in the first two games you only had to sacrifice a few of the best items (don't buy Rose's Thorn if there isn't a dagger user in the party). Does BioWare really expect me to buy a new bed instead of powerful equipment?

Am I correct in my assessment?

Quite frankly I'm enjoying playing as a Qunari mage. It feels extra heretical when someone calls me the Herald of Andraste, along with the different conversation feel.

Thinking about nabbing this game even though I've never played DA, only interested because people say its slightly similar to Skyrim.

What do you guys think about Knight Enchanter, Rift Mage, and Assassin?

Knight Enchanter is by far the strongest specialization in the game. I'm playing my main as a Knight Enchanter on nightmare and am not having issues.

...Has anybody actually tried the other specializations? Was planning on trying rift mage for my second playthrough.

Define strongest? My death mark popped for 25k on a high Dragon. Combine that with the damage ib had to do before i poppped it to get that...

I've yet to play any other specs, but Knight Enchanter is an OP class due to it's foundation. You can essentially Godmode as long as you keep attacking.

Does it do the most DPS? Probably not, but it has the most surivivability. And without any adversaries having a rage timer that I've seen, you can just keep hitting it until it's dead.

I took down the Hinterlands Dragon on Night mare at level 11 with Blackwall/Cass tank specced and Vivienne/Inquisitor Knight Enchanter.

Not arguing the point cause I've yet to play other specs, but it's hard to see other classes having that ability to just tank through anything.

My attacks at level 20 were 1000+ with every ability I used against dragons.Three-shotted Red lyrium mobs. Chain Lighting-Energy Barrage-Spirit Blade. The empty mana bar gives a huge bonus to attack in the lighting tree. Like 10% extra damage for every 10 mana missing

    Finally finished this.

I think I was pretty close to 100% - all quests done, all landmarks and shards, etc. Took me 75 hours. I was missing a few codex entries, so I'm sure there were a few things I missed, but not that many. 100-200 hours? Maybe 100 if you play on nightmare.

A fairly interesting ending. The aftercredit scene left me O_O! and gave me shivers, haha. I think Morrigan enjoyed some very good character development. Impressive.

It's surprising how much I ejoyed the characters, too. Like Dorian - I was supposed to hate him, but since I didn't use him in my party, I wouldn't even have realized he was gay if it hadn't been spoiled to me beforehand. So much of an improvement over DA2. Iron Bull was awesome. Bioware just gave the characters a much more mature and tasteful spin this time around. Josie romance sucked, though.

Random thoughts: crafting is indeed op. The only thing that comes close is the Sulivan Blade for 2h. Everything else, crafted is easily ~30% better than the best you find.

I'll give this a 9/10 in the end. Good job, Bioware.

Now, to start a rogue or a warrior playthrough... or a second Knight Enchanter character with better face? Cause mages master race. Everyone interesting and powerful is a mage.

Why did the Josie romance suck if I might ask? I've gotten to after the convo with leliana and starting the romance, but nothing more. Anything more beyond that?

Well, there were two moments in the game when I cringed and wanted to turn away from the screen - when the priest startes singing after Haven's fall, and when Josie gets involved with the duel. Happens later in the romance. Then there's the fact that she doesn't have a sex scene - best you get is kissing. It just got awkward later. I kinda had to force myself to finish it.

I never had a duel in my first play through so I guess it's part of her storyline?

Meh. Straight male romance got the short end I think. Cass is great, but only if you play religious/good person.

I'd be tempted to make a female for the lesbian romance, but sera is pretty gross. She just gives off the unhygienic "dyke" stereotype.

Or don't mind race-mixing. I romanced Merrill in DA2, but I don't really want to do another elf/human relationship. The only elf/elf relationship possible in this series for male elf PCs has been Zevran, and that's, you know, pretty gay bro.

Even disregarding her weird face (I think her mouth is too big, and her eyes kind of bug out -- see, this is why you should leave modding in), yeah, I get what you mean.

Cass is fine if you're not religious btw. It's acknowledged too, 'you may not believe it...' etc in regards to being the Herald and others seeing you as the maker.

Honestly, I got more romantic enjoyment out of Morrigan's scenes. I romanced her in Origins and well...the way she was possessive/sweet had me longing to play the Warden in whatever sequel comes next...

I hated Morrigan. She hated her mother, who tried to kill her, yet still took her teachings and way of life to heart.

I remember thinking 'oh werd? You disapprove of me helping these unfortunate souls? Go kill your mother yourself'.

I'm aware I'm very much in the minority in this.
