Turning his back to Lucius the Dark Lord looked through the window at the city below him.

"The search for Potter is taking too long, destroy the entire city," Voldemort ordered, still looking at the muggles below them.

The temperature in the room dropped by several degrees. Malfoy could not believe what he was hearing.

"The entire city, my lord? But there are countless innocent civilians living in London. Not to mention the Death Eaters still in the Ministry!"

At this, Voldemort slowly turned around.

"Your predecessor made the mistake of questioning my orders, Lucius. Surely you are not as foolish as Bella was?"

It was a casual threat, something the Dark Lord said frequently. But the way he looked at Lucius now meant that the times of such harmless speeches were over.

"Of course not, my lord. But it will take more than an hour for our men to prepare the necessary curses."

Voldemort waved his hand in dismissal.

"Then I suggest you begin immediately," he said and vanished without a trace.

A HP/Gamer fic where Harry finds a Fallout Pip-Boy before he starts at Hogwarts.

The Pip-Boy acts as a storage device allowing him to materialize and dematerialize objects for storage and transport, gives him quests to achieve, allows him to see and modify his own SPECIAL stats, allows him to gain and use perks, lets him use VATS (preferably FO3/NV style VATS) and when activated lets him halt time.

I was also considering that the Pip-Boy was found in a junk store and that along with it Harry finds a "RobCo Reflectron" (from FO:NV) allowing Harry to change his appearance without anyone noticing anything different (as in if he changes something then everyone just thinks he or possibly she was always like that) and using a "Vit-o-matic Vigor Tester" to modify his SPECIAL initially.

I think it would fit better than other The Gamer fics as it would feel like only a Fallout level of crack.

 

Canon divergence plot bunnies (there are two in this post). The first seeks to answer the question of what would have happened if Harry had taken off the locket before diving into the frozen pool to retrieve the sword. The way I’ve conceived the scene at the moment has Harry coming out of the frozen water and opening the locket to destroy it only to see Hermione come out of the locket and basically tear into him saying she is going to leave because this whole thing is hopeless. Hermione then emerges from the woods and snaps Harry out of it telling him to destroy the damn thing. Neither of them hear the faint crack of disapparition in the background.

I will say right now that this isn’t necessarily going to end up as a Harry/Hermione fic nor will it engage in pointless Ron bashing. The point of the opening scene is primarily to show that right now Harry’s greatest fear is that he won’t succeed and that he will be abandoned to this task alone. Harry is still very much pining for Ginny at this moment and Hermione is still very much pining for Ron. I don’t believe in saying there will be a certain pairing in a fic unless the pairing is a major plot point. I much prefer writing characters and seeing if something makes sense to naturally develop between them.

The reason Ron leaves without approaching them isn’t even due to jealousy at this point but more that when he saw what the locket showed Harry he realized how badly he fucked up when he left. I’m not sure if I’ll include it in the scene, but Ron is the only reason Hermione is even there. He followed Harry’s footprints and set off a loud noise to wake Hermione up so she could notice that Harry was gone and follow his footprints to where he is. In fact, Ron leaves to go sort of redeem himself which becomes more important later on.

This is kind of meant to be an anti-fanon/movie characterization fic. It is kind of a return to canon characterizations or at least how I see them. There seems to be this idea that when you write any sort of Harry and Hermione interaction that Hermione tends to always come across as bossy and she has all the answers. When in reality they should serve as sort of a foil to each other. Hermione’s biggest weaknesses happen to be Harry’s biggest strengths and the opposite is true in a lot of ways too. Harry is also very much capable of saying he is going to do something that Hermione thinks is a bad idea and Hermione will go along with it if she can't change his mind. Harry doesn't just cave to her bossiness like in so many fics.

Many of the adventures in canon wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the two of them working together. I really want to try and capture this dynamic between them. I realize that some other characters that have their moments in the books but Harry and Hermione tend to do the most significant parts of it in my opinion. There is a sort of trust and loyalty aspect that they both have for each other that seems lost in many fics that I would like to bring out as well. But there is a balance to be had there because quite a few Harry/Hermione authors bash you over the head with their loyalty in order to force a pairing.

Right now, I'm still working on thinking about ways to keep this from just being a shitty rehash and I want to read the books again making notes on how they interact with each other so I can try to capture their dynamic better instead of relying on my memory of their characterizations. I'm also still looking at the previous plot bunny I posted about as well as the potential for another DH divergence.

Speaking of which, the other DH divergence stems from the wedding. Death Eaters attack said wedding preventing Fleur and Bill from actually getting married and kill/maim several people there. You don't see that scene though. The story starts in Fenrir Greyback's shitty little cabin where Harry and either Fleur or Hermione have tracked him down to. What proceeds is a torture session for what he did to Gabrielle Delacour followed by a vicious execution (that's actually why I considered having Hermione along for her famous bright blue flames to burn the bastard to death).

Obviously this is far removed from canon characterizations and would tread a dark road following two characters who have been deeply changed by past events in the war. They would adapt a strategy of creating fear similar to what Voldemort did in the first war.

"But he's not a Pan," Tinkerbell said stubbornly, staring at the hook-handed pirate across from her. Her wings flickered to and fro, and small rivulets of fairy dust fell from her as she tried to hover in between Hook's eyes. His black, beady eyes followed her, his attention obviously piqued. "At least, not yet."

"You are right about that," he said, using his sword to nick the edge of Peter's jaw. The mousy-haired, middle-aged Muggle nearly shouted in pain, but a second glance at his children, all of which were suspended by ropes hanging from the crows' nest high above them, convinced him otherwise. He didn't think he'd survive seeing his children's blood painted across the deck. Hook noticed none of his opponent's alarm, such was the intense look he focused on Tinkerbell. "So, what do you propose?"

Tinkerbell was thoughtful. "What if I were to give you what you've always wanted? A true foe, worthy of your greatness."

Peter had no idea where the small... fairy? was going with this, and in fact, he was too busy worrying over his frail children falling to the ground below to spare it any thought. Hook, however, seemed curious, if not outright pleased by Tinkerbell's words. "Speak now, fairy, before I squash you between two slices of bread."

She gave him a look that quite plainly expressed how she felt about his comment, but she retained her dignity enough to try and convince the older, angrier pirate. "If you were to give me time, I could train him. He would be a fierce competitor in time--"

"Please," he said, sniffing haughtily. "No amount of training will make this Peter a Pan!"

"One week," she said. He considered it, before roughly shaking his head.

"One day."

"One day? How am I supposed to accomplish anything? It's after supper already--"

"FINE. Three days, and that is final. Or we can just cut his children free right now and see how well they fare--"

"NO!" Four people yelped, afraid for their lives.

Tinkerbell very quickly agreed to his demands, and the children were set free with considerably less falling to their deaths involved. Peter considered himself fortunate, but that was before an insidiously evil grin crossed Tinkerbell's face and she began to size him up. "No, I don't think I'll be able to train you in time. But I know two wizards who can."

Peter groaned aloud, though he was secretly thankful his head hadn't been lopped off. He scraped one finger across his face, frowning at the sight of blood. "Wizards?" he murmured, testing the word on his tongue. "So, they do magic like you?"

"Not like me," she hissed, making it obvious that Hook, who was having his own discussion amongst his men, was not supposed to hear their conversation. "They have magic... like you."

"Well," Peter said, looking at the pirate ship's gargantuan sails, "Can these wizards of yours fly?"

Tinkerbell grinned. "Oh, not yet, but I have a feeling they will learn soon enough..."

 

At the age of 17, James Potter had it all. Quidditch captain, head boy, dating the most attractive girl at Hogwarts, and in the last quidditch game of the season he managed to score 20 goals in a single game, but all of that came crashing down when Lily got pregnant. Now, he is married...with children.

Leif Ericson was a wizard. He founded a Norse wizarding colony in Northeastern Canada 500 years before Columbus. These witches and wizards still live there today, and their Viking culture is still very much intact.

That's as far as I thought this one through.

 

Harry Potter/Guardians of the Galaxy crossover.

Why? Because Harry's almost exactly the same age as Peter Quill (1980 birth year) and I have no other reasons. Oh, wait, he could get it on with Zoe Saldana. That's a reason. Right?

Also, it means you could have Voldemort take over on Earth and have him as the main guy standing against Thanos when he attacks. Everything would be such a wonderful clusterfuck. I wonder what happens when a wizard gets hold of an infinity gem.

 

That's the only reason needed to justify this being written, but maybe do it post Voldemort. It's always better to have a trained wizard in the mix vs someone who never got to learn magic and grew up in space.

Maybe make the resurrection stone originally an infinity gem or something.
