I made a Google Doc listing smut fics that I consider decent. Not all of them are great, but none of them are terrible.

By “smut fic” I mean a fic focused on sexual situations. This list does not include full-length fics that happen to include smut, with the possible exception of Narcotic Effects.

Principles of good smut:
- Close to canon characterisation, including character voice.
- Moderately realistic sex
- Minimal fluff
- Minimal angst
- A strong focus on the build-up to the smut, establishing the characters, setting and scenario. It’s not a full plot, but the sex should have a context.
- Good description, neither overly clinical nor too flowery.
- Bonus for: original use of magic, drawn-out UST, good undressing/nudity descriptions, interesting scenarios.

I might edit this post later on, but honestly, I can't think of that much smut that I'd ever recommend to anyone.

 

Never been a big fan of It's Just Sex. I think it takes to the love/hate dynamic with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer, and love/hate is the kind of thing that gets bad very easily... makes you think of melodramatic Harry/Draco angst. Also the dialogue is far too porny.

A Boy and His Cloak is borderline... it's generally very good, but it has one moment that I absolutely hate which kinda ruins the whole fic for me: the cliché conversation where Harry convinces Hermione she's beautiful because she's insecure. Will consider adding it.

 

It's smut. If you want higher quality of dialogue, look elsewhere.

 

The whole point of the list is to find good smut. If that means 95% of smut doesn't make it into the list, so be it.

Better to have a short list of quality than a long list of shit.

 

This is the best I found. It is nothing much, but noone seems to write smut that I would enjoy for some reason.

It started just as it always did.

How he knew the way into the Slytherin dorm rooms every time, Pansy hadn't a clue. How he always knew she was alone, she never pondered for long. Oh, like a nuclear bomb just begging to be dropped on a Japanese city it was, and these two lovers were nothing if not eager to kill some Japs.

As Pansy kissed him down from the base of his ear to his neck, Harry whispered into her ear, "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown."

Shivering, Pansy took the hint that was given, and, still kissing him, guided them towards her four-poster bed. A Quaffle couldn't go through a hoop any smoother than these two descended onto silk sheets, but their exuberance soon took over. An errant hand slapped off the sole candle of the room, which thankfully just extinguished instead of setting the bed on fire and turning this into some kind of tragic ending of a story born of love and woe. Not like there's any of those about, anyhow.

Still, darkness did pose its challenges.

"O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou, Romeo?" Harry cried. Pansy winced as the tip of his cock poked her arsehole, and hissed at her lover in negative. He withdrew and she guided him away from the passage of occasional wonders and towards the cavern of more variable, if far too overly mucus-y for both their liking sometimes, wonders.

Penis met cunny, introduced itself, told a joke or two, promised to talk again later, did so at a mate's party months later, flirted a bit over cocktails that same night, organised a date for later, went out on that date, went out on a second date that ended with a sweet kiss, then finally got a nice blowjob after the third and only asked itself if that was too soon about six times, but eventually got to the penetrative intercourse part a week later and felt pretty good about all that.

Harry, for his part, seemed disappointed he wasn't ravaging her arsehole instead. "Alas! Poor Yorrick. I see way more Harry/Hermione than is good for my health, so I will make up for it by reccing lots of Harry/Ginny and Harry/Luna :

I'm probably biased because I've spent the last week reading everything by Antosha, but right now I'm willing to swear that Antosha is the best writer of sex scenes in the fandom. Almost everything by him is Harry/Ginny, Harry/Luna or, my favorite, Harry/Ginny/Luna, and is particularly adept at writing threesomes. You need to register to read, but its definitely worth it.

Back to the Garden : This is the best known of Antosha's stories and is in the library here. Doesn't really meet your requirements as it has a plot, and has romance and fluff, but you've made exceptions in your list, and this is good enough to deserve an exception as well IMO. While there is a plot, the story undoubtedly revolves around the sex scenes -- Ron/Pansy, Ron/Hermione, Draco/Pansy, Harry/Ginny, Harry/Luna, Ginny/Luna and Harry/Ginny/Luna. The final threesome is the best smut I've ever read.

There are a couple of bad characterizations -- Voldemort's competence is scaled down, which would be a real bother in an action/adventure story, but in a story where most action is in the bedroom, it doesn't bother me too much. I think I skimmed most of the plot stuff before chapter 17, where the story took a real upward turn and hooked me like a crack whore, and kept me glued till the end. Great characterization of Pansy, which is a huge plus.

Also, did I mention the Harry/Ginny/Luna threesome at the end? Best smut I've ever read.

Stag : Ron/Harry/Luna threesome, with implied Blaise/Hermione/Ginny. Slightly OOC (obviously), but the author tries to make it as realistic as an improbable pairing like this could be.

Dead Drop : Fun story, with four sex scenes -- Harry/Susan, Susan/Ginny, Susan/Neville and Harry/Neville. It actually makes sense in the context, and it's not random people exchanging sexual partners. Ignore the male slash if you don't like that stuff, the rest is top notch. Ends with minor Harry/Ginny, which is a shame because I wanted more of it.

Around the Twist : Harry/Hermione and Harry/Ginny. The H/Hr is slightly contrived, but other than that, it's quite good.

Prying: This one is weird because it had Dom!Ginny, but you did include one femm-dom in the list already, so why not another? Good quality smut, and it features a couple trying out a new kink, not Harry suddenly becoming a submissive or anything.

Triptych : Harry/Ginny/Luna. This one is told from Luna's POV. See what you make of it.

Release : This one is pure Harry/Luna. Library thread here.

Uncorked : Birthday sex for Harry. Harry/Ginny/Luna.

Third Person, Singular : Harry/Ginny/Luna. This one probably has more non-smut than you're looking for, but the story revolves around the smut, and the smut itself is very good. Definitely Recommended.

Non-Antosha stuff :

Den of Pleasure : Certainly unconventional, but I really liked the atmosphere of the story. Give it a read.

Watching and Waiting : Harry/Ginny. I really like this one. Features Underwater sex, Body shots and Mentors! Bill and Charlie teaching Harry about giving and receiving pleasure, not anticipating that he would use that knowledge with their sister. Minimal fluff and angst.

Finding the Nerve : Harry/Ginny. Not the best quality smut I've ever read, but it's still pretty decent.

Daddy's Girl : Harry/Lily Luna. It's creepy, and, er — it's creepy. But I like creepy, so I liked it. Probably shouldn't recommend it under smut, but if people can wank to Oedipus Flower......

Also, what's this obsession with Harry/Pansy? Doesn't seem all that different from Draco/Hermione to me.

Why not? What's the point of smut if not to be titillating? Educational? I think not. Story? Lol, no.

My standards for smut are much lower than regular fiction, unless it's offensively bad. The large majority unfortunately seems to be either fluffy vanilla or too dark (adultery, slavery etc).

I'm always on the lookout for the in between. Promiscuous characters without the dark themes (or the term Slytherin Sex God.... Sigh). Drinking games/ parties without 'pairings', swinging, two-way open relationships.

These are seemingly pretty rare, so I'm not too fussed with quality.

All of that is basically context before supplying any stories, lol.

Out of the Blue. Hermione and Draco are house mates. She gets annoyed/ jealous with the girls he constantly brings home so she asks Harry for his help to get back at him. Draco/OFC, H/Hr, Implied H/Hr/Dr (annoyingly cuts off there).

A lot of the HP stories by smutgasm are a guilty pleasure.

And a guilty pleasure slutty Hermione fic aptly called Hermione the Slut.

I remember really liking Two for One too. It's a Parvati/Harry/Padma Yule ball fic with Fleur/Davis and Hermione/Krum (annoyingly) in the periphery.

The Potter Family Chronicles was okay from memory too. Harry and Daphne are married, he has a threesome with her and Tracey because reasons and his hot daughters want the D because wincest.

Hm, that's all I could find right now. I don't particularly find much smut I like in the HP fandom. Most of it lately is just unbearable Hr/Draco - I'm not against the pairing per se, just how it's written and sheer volume.
