    That made my day.

o Werewolves are not automatically homosexual. Even if they were, the chances of Sirius Black being homosexual as well are slim. Even then, the chances that a homosexual Sirius Black would be attracted to a hairy homosexual friend who apparently is incredibly 'rough' is next to none.

o Harry Potter is not exotic looking. He is a white, skinny male with green eyes and black hair. While this may form the basis of his inevitably chick magnet nature, it does not give him long eyelashes, creamy white skin, fully pouty lips, and the like.

o Harry has a hidden stash of IQ somewhere waiting to be utilized.

o Harry is not actually very good at football/soccer.

o Sadly, Dumbledore is frighteningly intelligent and mature. Insults such as 'lemon sucking lunatic' will only serve to degrade Harry.

o Dumbledore is not omnescient. It's entirely possible he doesn't know everything. There are other explanations for events than him being either a moron or manipulative.

o If Dumbledore is manipulative, he is, again, not stupid. A letter from Gringotts cannot foil all his plans. A memory charm does exist.

o As backwards as the wizarding world is, it is not totally corrupt. The Wizengamot must be comprised of at least some fair minded individuals.

o If Arthur Weasley has discovered something useful from the Muggles, it is probably abortion for the female members of their family.

I'm not trying to be offensive in any way here but... Homosexual pairings or slash, should not be allowed. It's a child's book for heavens sake. Harry does NOT fall in love with Draco. >.<

I got this idea while taking a chemistry exam. Hg is the chemical symbol for the element mercury. In no way, shape, or form shall it stand for a certain pairing in fanfiction or be used as a pairing.

Vampire and Veela are not gay.

Veela and Vampire will NOT die if they dont find their respective mate within a matter of days.

Hogwarts does NOT have a magical room for mates and pregnant teens.

Harry is awkward around girls, spending a week with Tonks will not change that nor will getting more powerful or growing 8 inches and being a solid 240 pounds.
Finding out he has a has a 10 inch Dick +1 of power will not change this either.

This is from a couple of pages back but it needs to be discussed.

"- The main characters of HP are teens and as such are not mature enough to understand the meaning of love at first site. It will most likely be lust at first site. And attemts to convey a love deeper than an ocean amoung teens is the work of a deluded mind that still festers in the third rate romance novels. Teens (atleast the males) are generally more interested in sex more than lasting relationships."

True Teens are more likely for the whole couple of thrusts, but in the wizarding world this is different.

James and Lily for example are ready to marry right out of highschool, and there have been other examples of people hooking up. It's obvious that these teens have more maturity then their muggle counterparts. Now i'm not saying that everyone should be hooking up, that's unbelieveable, but a few maybe.

This isn't all that unheard of highschool sweethearts marrying soon after high school, i know of at least two couples that got married out of high school and have very productive lives together.

    Yes it's rare, but it's a possibility.

Oh, And very important, The Grangers names are not Dan and Emma.

    I disagree.

The wizarding world has a lot of analogies with the Muggle world. Wizards are normal human beings, apart from the fact they have magical powers. Teenage wizards have the same development as teenage Muggles, complete with rushes of hormones, breaking of voices etc. Their magical power doesn't make them any wiser or more mature, and therefore it's not because they're magical that they will be able to keep their lustful instincts in check and fall for a girl's inner beauty (*grimaces as the mushiness of it all*).

While I'm a happy J/L shipper, I have to point out that we don't know much about them. We know James was already asking Lily out in fifth year; we know they did go out in seventh year; but we don't know whether they got married right after Hogwarts because they were sooo in looooove, or because Lily found herself pregnant, or because they were afraid they might be killed any day and thus didn't take the time to weigh the pros and cons.

Heh, for all we know, maybe their marriage wouldn't have worked out if they had lived.

Anyway, comparing H/G with J/L just shouldn't be allowed. James chased Lily for two years before she agreed to give him a chance, whereas Harry just needed a split second to have the fit of madness which made him start drooling over Ginnykins. As for Lily, I don't know what sort of girl she was exactly; but she'd better not turn out as another fiery and popular oh-so-cool Ginny-like tart, or I'll definitely lose all respect for JKR.

I always imagined Lily to be a combination of Hermione and Ginny. Taking the best from each character and leaving out the rest.

I'm not talking maturity, i'm talking society. Society can make a decision like getting married, alot easier or a hell of alot harder.

Simply having the blessing of her parents can make it easier. It's just in the muggle world, getting married as soon as you graduate, recently has been frown upon. Whereas it was perfectly normal in the fifties.

"Heh, for all we know, maybe their marriage wouldn't have worked out if they had lived."

From all accounts, Hagrid, Remus among others, James and Lily were the perfect couple for all intents and purposes soul-mates.

I also have to point out that things like a having a mass-murderer that could show up outside your door AT ANY TIME, makes you grow up a bit, as does the information that you either have to kill or be killed. That'll will make things like a relationship mean something more then a few thrusts.

That would be true only for pure-bloods, or rather, bigoted pure-bloods. Half-bloods and Muggleborns roughly have the same mentality as Muggles on this point. So it doesn't apply to H/G or even J/L, since Lily is a Muggleborn and not the sort of girl who would let James Potter boss her around.

And even with their parents' blessing, teenagers may not be opposed to marriage at a young age, but they won't fall in love early because they marry early.

Their exact words are: "They were charming people."

As I already said, I'm a J/L shipper. But, come on--they were 22 when they died, meaning they were together for a grand total of 5 years. I believe they loved each other, but that doesn't mean their marriage would have worked. And it is perfectly possible that they would have taken the time to think about it before getting married, if Voldemort hadn't been threatening to kill them anytime.

So I stand my ground! :)

I think you discount the living arrangements at Hogwarts.

It's very easy to fall in love, if said person sleeps within 200 metres of you, and is always generally in the same building as you. You can build up an attraction, and the fact that see them everyday for ten months, can 'cause that falling in love feeling, enough to consider marriage, plus the fact that even though James was a prat most of the time to Lily during school, she put up with it and finally accepted his offer, and eventually married him.

It applies for a H/G relationship, As i'm fairly certain that a young Molly and Arthur were in similar circumstances, Harry certainly doesn't consider himself to be a muggle and all of his guidence in the way of relationships has come from a pureblood wizarding standpoint. The Weasleys are Pureblood as well. And I'm sure a Molly Weasley would be more then happy to marry off Ginny to the boy-who-lived, even with a war going on, that she doesn't know the half of.

"Harry certainly doesn't consider himself to be muggle..."

Oh really?... Does that mean he feels compelled to get married early because he's a wizard?...

    /sarcasm

The "early-marriage" theme is entirely fanon. What we know on the subject from the books is very limited: bigoted pure-bloods want their children to marry other pure-bloods. Period. We aren't told they have to get married just out of school or anything.

Besides, as I've already said it, not all pure-bloods are following this tradition; only bigots. And you can say a lot against the Weasleys, but they're not bigots. So... no, Harry and Ginny wouldn't fall in love and get married early because of a tradition neither of them care about.
That's partly what fuels my H/G-hatred, as a matter of fact. Molly Weasley wiping a tear while imagining Harry married to her ickle daughter... *shudders*

Maybe we should take this conversation to PMs.

Do we at least agree that The Grangers are not Dan and Emma?

Where exactly is stated how old James an Lily were when they married/died?

I admit, I didn't pay that much attention in HBP, but was it somewhere mentioned in canon?
    Or is it just fanon?

I think that it is still hard to believe that wizards marry early because they live at least twice as long as muggles.

I am aware that in other countries they marry earlier than in Europe; Switzerland is in fact one of the countries that couples marry the latest...
But even in the wizarding world couples have to have a financial background before beginning a family.

JKR was asked some question about Sirius' personality, and she said he was only 22 when he was sent to Azkaban. Sirius, James and Lily were in the same year at Hogwarts. The fans deducted the dates of birth from that.

    ...

They were not the perfect couple. In the books, if you would read them, James and Lily did not go out until 7th year, before that James wanted a few "thrusts" or whatever. They did not fall in love before, like you said in a later post.

James hadn't grown up, merely put on a visage of maturation. Behind her back, again, read the books, you would know he still cursed Snape and acted the same. If Lily was like Hermione, supraliminal, she would have known. If she was like Ginny, very invasive, she would have known. She didn't.

With that, adding to Tinn Tam's argument that disproved what Hagrid and Remus said, we can conclude they weren't the perfect couple.

There information of killing or not, was about Harry, not them. It's doubtful Dumbledore told them before they had Harry, or even directly after he was born. They might have done something drastic. Besides, they were protected for a whole year before the attack. Fidelius. So, that leaves three years, 7th year, and 2 years outside with the chances of Voldemort coming.

7th year: In Hogwarts, so that doesn't count

1 year outside: Voldemort was just starting his reign, they weren't a particularly big target, and had Dumbledore. So, doesn't count.

2nd year: Dumbledore's help, and they were making a name for themselves. Still had entire order, but we can say near the end they needed help.

Fidelius: No worries. Then Peter betrays them, and they had no time.

So, there relationship was far from perfect, and you are wrong.

From the way i understood the books, the war had already started while they were in school I could be completely wrong.

You are. It started in 7th year, they were in Hogwarts, it meant very little.

Again, 2 years outside, before Fidelius, they had Dumbledore, Voldemort didn't care for them much, and Harry was born in their second year outside.

Prophecy comes in to play, had Dumbledore, spent year getting ready for Fidelius, also had Order help.

3rd year: Fidelius, safe, then Peter fucked them over.

    EDIT:
Potter Law admission: Hermione's parents should not even be involved in the story. I was under the impression that the story was about Harry and Hogwarts, not how Hermione's home life is like.
