Couldn't find a thread for this movie, so I guess I'll start one. Has anyone else watched this movie yet? If you love over the top action and a spy movie that uses gadgets and tech that's not too out of the realm of possibility for our age, then this movie if for you.

It was awesome. That's the best way I can put. I honestly loved every part of it. The soundtrack was great. The action was well choregraphed. The plot was great. Even the romance was really good. Normally I don't like romance in these kinds of movies because they end up being cheesy or cheap, but this movie handled it really well. Here are two people who are the best at what they do and are attracted to each other. They don't instantly pursue a relationship, but the possibility is hinted at.

All in all, 5/5 easy IMO.

Edit: I also loved the fact that Ilsa main priority was herself and not any one person or organization. She was an excellent foil for Ethan.

Well, there is a general thread for movies coming out withing a given year. This one was in the Upcoming Movies in 2015 thread. Specifically a few people commenting on it on the last page.

I thought the movie was strictly OK, especially when compared to the earlier parts. The franchise seems to have become repetitive with the same template being used throughout (Chase, Hero getting beat down, Heist, Fool the Antagonist, the end). I did enjoy the movie, but a couple of weeks after, cant really think of one thing that the movie stood apart in.

Agree about the way Ilsa was portrayed though. Did not look cheesy or forced at all.

I agree that Ilsa was excellent and, unlike previous female characters, she should be a permanent addition to the team.

I suppose that my only big complain is that the main villain was rather lacking (something I could say about the previous film too), but at the same time I liked the overall concept of the Syndicate.

As far as popcorn flicks go, this one was solid. But in general I prefer movies with more plot. That's not what this set out to be though, and I enjoyed more than most popcorn flicks.

The female lead was not as irritating as most female leads are in these sorts of movies. I'm thrilled at the lack of overt sexual tension, sex, and romance in general. They didn't try to shoehorn it in, so they get bonus points from me for that.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly, except for the plot aspect.

While the first one was filled with intrigue and constant twists, I'd rather my MI movies be about action, amazing stunts and good chemistry. I loved Baldwin especially.

I dunno if they'll ever find someone as crazy as Tom Cruise to be a suitable replacement going forward though, but given that he seems to have stopped aging after achieving level 7 grand alchemist, it's not an issue.

Movie rocks. I give it 4/5 as a "serious" rating (mainly the one lost point because of not the strongest villain), but 5/5 in the end, because it put a huge smile on my face.
