Not a chance. I actually like my life. As cool as it'd be to do some of the things in the HP world, there's no way I'd trade. On top of which, I really do not ever want to do the whole teenage thing again.

Of course, skew the question a bit: if you had to go into a MCs world from one of your favorite books, which one would it be? On that, HP would be hard to beat.

The biggest reason why I would say yes, is that I would presumably no longer have the heart/health issues that I currently do.

Still, I would say no if I didn't retain my own memories. Memories are what make us who we are, and if I didn't have them I wouldn't be myself.

Same thing as putting a bullet in my brain as far as I'm concerned.

Nah - not looking forward to teenage angst, not to mention the whole bunch of issues he had to deal with.

Nah, if I had to be a character in a book, it'd be the easiest choice ever to either be a fully(or at least significantly)-trained Remo Williams or practically any biological in The Culture. I honestly can't think of any book character I'd prefer more than either of these two choices (though I'd be hard pressed to pick between the two, with probably Williams probably having the tiniest edge simply for being nearly unique rather than ubiquitous).

If I could have magic without becoming someone else, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I doubt there's a member of this forum who hasn't fantasised about being able to do magic at least once. I'm not prepared to give up my life, though.

I'm far too much of an egotist to ever give up me for the chance to be Harry Potter, if I'm me just under the name Harry Potter or just me being a student at Hogwarts then maybe, but at the moment more curious seeing where life's going.

Do know I'd give the Sorting Hat a nightmare though, the one time I took the Pottermore quiz I was 70/68/64/38 with Slytherin #1, Gryffindor and Ravenclaw 2&3.

Yeah...eleven year old me getting to go and learn magic, I'm absolutely going for that. Going as Harry...nah. I'd imagine there are ways around the bigger issues if you're able to keep your knowledge of the books, even the fact of Harry being a Horcrux, but better safe than sorry.

I'd be all for it. Then, at the first sign of danger, I'd have a panic attack and go running to Dumbledore.

Although magic is cool, I can deal with having no magic if it means I get to keep my family and whatnot. As for HP - nah. He gets through half his shit by luck or fate, and I don't trust either of those to favor me. :p

A million times yes! I'd get at least a couple of decades extra lifespan simply by being turned 11 and wizards extra long life span. And to sort out all the trouble just tell dumbeldore everything as soon as I get hedwig. I reckon that's voldemort basically sorted before I set foot in hogwarts. Even if he obliviates me it's worth it, and I doubt he would cause I don't see how he would benefit from doing it and he isn't evil.

Of course. The idea of being able to use magic is way too cool not to consider it an instant yes.

It's amazing how many people seem to forget how likely it is for you to die without that handy Plot Armour.

Yes, using Magic is admittedly really cool. But as Fudge so deftly put it, the problem is the bad guys can use it too. And they will use it on Harry Potter in a large number of ways. Hell, even the Magical Creatures can be really dangerous, and not just the obvious ones. A lot of people forget that even a hippogriff can potentially kill you, never mind a freaking dementor!

Like I said before, I would be happy to do it if I can be sure I won't die anytime soon, or at least get an infinite number of do-overs to give me a fighting chance. And even then, I would literally tell Dumbledore everything immediately and let him do all the dangerous stuff, complete with keeping Voldemort locked up in some hole forever so I don't have to worry about the Scarcrux.

But otherwise, I will not risk it. Knowing me, I would likely die within a week from something exceptionally stupid. And I doubt many of you would do much better.

Rhaegar, that's cool and all, but you're forgetting that you have your current memories.

It cannot be overstated just how big of an advantage it is.

    Here's a handy survival guide:

    1. Be Harry Potter, age 11.

    2. Keep your head down at the Dursleys, do chores and make the summer pass as quickly as possible.

    3. Hide the letter to Hogwarts from the Dursleys. Since you have it read, there won't be a wave of letters and you'll live a quiet, peaceful summer. Eventually someone from Hogwarts is bound to arrive to get you.

    4. Go to Diagon Alley with Hagrid (or someone else) and let events flow. Be friendly to Draco, no need to create an enemy as soon as possible. Tell him you're Harry Potter, show him your scar. Impress him by saying Voldemort's name. Be sure to tell Hagrid or whoever is with you that you will need help getting to King's Cross in September.

    5. Back at the Dursleys you should maintain a neutral atmosphere. They fear your magic now, but there's no reason to antagonize them. Just stay there in peace for the rest of summer. Try to learn at least a single spell during that time. The Trace isn't on you yet.

    6. Get to King's Cross on September 1st. Since you already know how to enter the Platform, do so. Find an empty seat/compartment and get comfortable, time to start up the plot of the books.

    7. Eventually Ron, Hermione, Draco and other people are bound to come to you. Do it like this: have Ron and Draco sit with you, tell Hermione you haven't seen any toads.

    8. Try go get friendly with both Ron and Draco, despite their dislike for each other. Try to get them to at least coexist without fighting. You're Harry Potter, they'll listen. Since Ron is a pureblood, Draco won't have a hard time with this.

    9. At Hogwarts, get Sorted. I can't help you with this, but I suggest either Gryffindor or Slytherin if possible.

    10. As soon as possible, arrange a meeting with your Head of House and tell them that your scar hurts very strongly whenever you're near Professor Quirrell. This is bound to create some interesting consequences.

    11. At the Potions lesson, keep your head down and act respectfully towards Snape. No reason to give him ammunition for annoying detentions.

    12. Don't join the Quidditch team. Just don't. You don't have time for this.

    13. Since you already know everything about the Flamel / Stone mystery, sit back and study whenever you want. Don't pay attention to the Out-of-Bounds corridor.

    14. Even though it will no doubt take years, start learning Occlumency and the Patronus Charm as soon as possible. You won't get results until Year 3 probably, but the sooner you start the better it will all go.

That's all I have for Year 1. Stay alive!

Also, either focus on cultivating a real friendship between Ron and Hermione, or prevent Hermione from staying in the girl's bathroom on Halloween. I imagine a real life troll would be no joke.

Also, I'm not sure if it's possible to really learn Occlumency without a Legilimens to test you. The risk with all of these plans though is that the ripples they'll cause will make your 'foreknowledge' increasingly unreliable as time progresses.

Anyway, pretty much the only safe way to deal with the Scarcrux I can think of is to isolate and trap Voldemort after the other Horcruces are destroyed. Ideally, Dumbledore traps Voldemort in Year One, which should make the rest of the years significantly more survivable.

I'd would like to go back to being 11 and live in a world with magic. Maybe not Hogwarts but a magic school in Mexico or South America. The trick would always be if I'd know of my previous Muggle life. Because I fear if I didn't remember it, magic would just become schoolwork and it would be tedious to study it all through my teenage years. However, if I remember what my life used to be, I would never stop reading magic related books.

If you knew the plot of Harry Potter when you go back to being 11 then you could just avoid the worst parts of Harry Potter. Like stopping Sirius from dying and telling Dumbledore about all the horcruxes so he can destroy them then at the graveyard you resurrect Voldemort and have loads of aurors ambush him and arrest them and kill Voldemort.

Technically if you were a muggleborn you would remember a life before magic.
