It seems Blackwindkaze has quit Naruto fiction. His stories have disappeared from FF.net and his LJ has been deleted. Not sure on the reasoning, but Kraken's Ghost says that people drove him (kaze) to quiting, and the blame seems to lay with 'Narutards.'

 

Nah, I don't really care about his story anyway. And since there are enough people who enjoy his work, I won't try to deter him from writing with any criticism I have (which is quite a lot).

Kaze said something in his profile about people constantly stealing stuff from his works without asking him beforehand...sounds a bit touchy to me but that surely wasn't his only reason for quiting.

Little one-shot I stumbled across lately. I'm usually not the type for one-shots so I read this one more out of boredom than out of genuine interest. Well, anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by this one, not because of the writing (though it was actually quite good) but the character insight and the basic plot used. The plot is actually so simply, yet original, that I've never really thought of it and also never saw it done before. Everybody in here is totally in-character and portrayed well. The author also managed to create a more human Sasuke that you can somewhat understand and empathize with instead of showing him as a complete retard with an utterly fucked up mind and ambition.

 

This was good; a little bit cheesy of an ending, but I can ignore that.

Excellent portrayal of Sasuke as an actual human being. People, as li.u has said, tend to show him as just a jealous ball of vengeance and arrogance, when in fact he's probably more sensitive in some ways than most other characters. I liked Sasuke in this fic, and that's saying something.

 

As i understood it he got sick of the naruto-fandom and all it contains.

Authors complete disregard of canon, horrible portrayal of characters and lets not forget all fanboy/girlism.

In short, everything that's normal in a fandom. Personally i think he overreacted abit too much.

Well, who knows? Probably a mixture of all the things...though it really looks like he overreacted quite a bit. Sure, I mean getting one's ideas stolen and general idiocy in fandom is bothering but not something that'd warrant quitting. He had enough fans that really appreciated his works to make up for those annoyances. On the other hand, he's been around in fandom for long enough...it'd only be natural to lose one's interest over time. Anyway, he's probably also got some other reasons entirely of his own.

Friendship Story:
Yeah, it was amusing...not overly funny but amusing. A nice read for bored moments or if you simply got nothing else to do.

I'm digging this story at the moment. Naruto is still a Naruto, but he's actually letting go of things in order to improve himself (e.g Sakura (huzzah!)). In the three chapters posted, we go from the conversation Haku and Naruto have before he charges, to probably just before they leave to return to Konoha, and each chapter is nice and meaty (~28k words for 3 chapters). I'm really looking forward to seeing how things ripple out from the changes to Naruto.

Edit: Haku is a girl in this by the way, but... its a fresh take on it!

That was... great! I haven't read something that good in a long while! Really good writing- some of the metaphors the author uses were just mind-boggling. Story-wise, this has gotta be one of the best ones I've EVER read.

But, it's a matter of personal taste; This is one of THE best, in my opinion, WIP Naruto stories ever.

 

ok I'm going to say thus FemalHaku is just as annoying as Ginny idk how it's written it's a overused character that is used in %60 of Naruto fanfics I say burn femaleHaku with Ginny, Hermione, Hinata

Anyway, I have to agree with Lutris. It was kinda great. Only finished ch.2 just now but what I've read so far gave me a good time. The writing is nice and fluent, especially for an amateur writer like he claims to be.
Character developement is well done and changes are believable and occur gradually. It's sometimes a bit too much introvert talk for my taste but that level of detail is one of the great qualities of that fic.
Another excellent thing is that all the characters stay totally IC. All the changes that happen and their adaptions to them...it all fits into the basic character frame that canon offers.
Also, for all the talking and character relationships he seems to compensate with some decent action now and then. Already some neat action and a well-written fighting scene in the first chapter.
Not so sure about the plot since it hasn't progressed that far yet (or at least not where I'm atm). It sure has potential though, even if it's only to see how Naruto's developement will continue.
Definitely a story, I consider to be one of the better ones in my already severely limited list of quality fics.
I should really leave that guy some positive feedback after I'm done with ch.3 =/

 

Female!Haku is vastly underrated, in my opinion. Yes, it is a bit...weird, since Haku is a confirmed guy, but well written ones are always food. Now, where the hell did 60% come from? About 75% of all Naruto fanfiction is slash, and the majority of what is left is either Naruto/Sakura or Naruto/Hinata. Both of which are far more over-used than Female!Haku. If you can give me some solid proof, I will acknowledge your point, but it seems very unfounded right now.

 

Only 75%? From what I've seen it at least seems more like 85-90% of it is slash.

 

Well, I am out-dated on that. I never browse anymore, I just read recommended fics. Quite a pain when there are no new ones for me to read, I can tell you.

 

even those Yaoi fics will have Haku as a female. In fact any fic I ever found Haku in, he is always a female... never a male.

 

Doesn't matter to me if he's male, female or whatever. The only problem I have with stories that have Haku in them is that they're usually done pretty badly. I've yet to see a 'Haku-lives' fic where he has at least some greater purpose for the plot, stays IC and doesn't form some sort of extremely overpowered dream-team with Naruto.
From what I've seen so far the author is able to get character developement and dynamics right. So naturally, I've high hopes for this story.

Though I gotta say, Chapter 3's ending was a tad bit forced though which was covered up by a lame, 'it didn't mean to come out that way'. Everything else was exactly what floats my boat however.

Block. In the past couple months I've tried four times to work on it. I've got no clue how to start. @_@

 

Hmm...well. A whole new village, new characters, new turn in the storyline...sure a lot to plan out. Take your time, pray to your muse, wait for a sudden inspiration to strike you down...or something like that. In the meantime, I'll just keep waiting =)

Ah and I didn't really see a problem with ch.3. The bit where Naruto recites his whole life story at the end with all the bad bad people in Konoha was perhaps a bit irritating but it's fitting considering Haku's...counterproductive mindset at that time. Also, it it's, in my opinion, a really great twist to the usual and simple friends/couple-relationship the two normally share in that kind of story. Don't know how the author actually envisioned the chapter to look like...I, for my part, enjoyed it anyway.
