Its actually not a bad read. Its not all fangirl so you won't try to kill yourself after reading it and they mention harry potter (reason with remus/sirius and harry/draco) but the best part is the supposed numbers they offer.

I'm fine with all the gay guys and girls reading and writing it, hey its their life. However, I do not understand the straight women who do it. I think DLP needs to set up like a forum of debate or something between people on this forum and a very slash heavy fangirl forum. While I'm sure I still won't understand completely at least I'll understand more.

EDIT: link at bottom another interesting read.

I don't know a single girl that would ever watch gay porn.

    ......

And it has nothing at all to do with the fact that they hate each other at all, it's all unresolved sexual tension stemming from when they first met in Diagon Alley- yeah get over yourself, whoever the fuck wrote this.

This information came from wikipedia, so one cannot believe it to be at all accurate. wikipedia isn't a reliable resource to cite from, simply because anyone can edit. My professors do allow students to use wiki for research when doing term paper for this reason.

I've used info from wikipedia in a post before, and I got negrepped. I desrved it for being idiotic.

Trying to engage in a rational debate with the fangirls that write slash would be a disaster. All they would say is, "OMG Harry and Drake r sooooo hawt lulz." Then someone like Gio would wtfpwn them like he did kinsfire and pp3.

Edit: I was only joking about slash lovers all being fangirls. So if you write slash, don't be offended

You can write a DLP article for Wikipedia yourself, as anyone is allowed to contribute to the encyclopedia. :p

Articles are carefully reviewed on Wikipedia most of the time to ensure their accuracy and to prevent the sort of editing Colbert suggested. Either way, always take things from ANY source with a grain of salt.

Raven have you ever read their article on the Reconstruction period in American History?

    Or on Tom DeLay

Or on the Civil War (or as they call it in Tennessee "The War of Northern Aggression").

Or any of the 'articles' they have about European History.

Wikipedia is an excellent reference if you only need general knowledge like a quick translation of Vesti La Giubba -- but if you actually want good information go elsewhere, or you'll be disappointed.

If you want know whether an article's good in wikipedia, click on the discussion tab.

If it's been awarded a good article award, I'd say it's reliable.

If it's been awarded a featured article award, it's probably the best source available.

You should also look to the sources of a wikipedia article. If they have a trillion there (and believe me, the better articles have hundreds), it's very reliable.

The articles you mention probably have warnings that they're not neutral, lack references, use weasel words, need the help of an expert, etc.

That's the quick wikipedia guide from your resident wikinerd, Belerdorhan.

The first two articles I mentioned fit those criteria, however all of the European History ones do not.

This is very amusing. I think I've read this before, though, when I was reading the FanFiction.Net Wiki page, which is an interesting read btw.

Tossing just any old fan site on wikipedia will probably get axed within an hour - they have very "attentive" people constantly scanning the "just added" lists looking for "non-important" entries to delete. So even sites with many thousands of stories and relevant differences, such as ficwad or mediaminer.

Specifically for HP fanfics, I noticed only seven website entries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Harry_Potter_websites), so we may just have a chance to slip in there. I mean, we have around 2000 users, and usually under 100 online at any time - so maybe when we've grown a bit more.

I say DLP should have FORTY-TWO entries dedicated to this site. It knows why.
