In all fairness, I have wondered why Harry always ends up liking guys in these misbegotten fics where a freak accident turns him into a girl (or he's suddenly revealed to be a girl under a spell that even he wasn't aware of). Harry's the hero; heroes persevere against all odds. That means still dating girls even if you have the wrong plumbing for it, because that's what you were doing in the first place. Yeah, that's the ticket!

If I woke up tomorrow as a female, I would not all of a sudden say, 'Hmm. Yeah, I feel like trying dick today.' No, dammit! NO!
I'd be the biggest rug-munching lesbian the world had ever seen. Why change a good thing just because some 'magic sex change from beyond' shifted your bits around? Sorry, I love women too much for that.

Of course, just because that's the more realistic reaction (AFAIC) doesn't mean it bears writing about... But fanfic doesn't always have to have a point either so... Meh. It's six of one, a half-dozen of another.

[Edit: Although, a story where Harry gets turned into a girl after he's already in a serious relationship with a girl, seeing the impact it had on things, might be interesting. Heavy emphasis on the 'might'. He'd still better end up knee-deep in the blood of his enemies at some point during the story. I mean, I'm all for romance in a story but too much and I'll have to start injecting insulin.]

Or maybe it's just an alternative to having Harry fuck Snape or Draco. I mean, come on, that's all that happens in femme!Harry stories. Always. I'd rather wear twenty-grit sandpaper boxers than read ANY story where one of those slimy bastards fucks Harry, whether he has female plumbing or not. Anyone choosing between canon!Draco and/or canon!Snape (note JKR's original sketches of him too- ghastly) versus lesbianism would welcome lesbianism with open arms, every time.
Even Ron would be a better alternative and if he doesn't deserve Hermione, he sure as hell doesn't deserve girl!Harry.

If for no other reason, femme!Harry/female merits being written simply because I don't think it's really been done before and because Snarry and Hraco make me want to vomit until I forget what Harry Potter even is. uke:

Oh no, It will NEVER stop! I started out reading/Writing Naruto Fics, and now I'm shocked if reading a new story DOESN'T give me a new plotbunnie for either Naruto or HP. Hell I've got at least four HP story Ideas (As in i've got the general outline written) that I've never seen used, and probably closer to twelve Naruto ones, and that doesn't even come close to what I could create for challenges if I just went through and Combined Ideas in my General Notes Section...

I feel your pain. I've got four stories going, four more in planning (and an original fiction), and one shots that just happen...

The only problem is that I've got some writer's block at the moment. I *know* what happens next in all my stories. I *know* who says what and when I make my obligatory jokes. I just cant make the words flow out of my fingers anymore.

It's pretty pathetic really. When I started writing, I was in the second semester of my fourth year of university, had a beautiful girlfriend, and was working. I put out seventy five thousand words in the first month, often two chapters a day. Now I'm unemployed, no longer in college, and am single... For the last three months I did one chapter a week, now I've got nothing. Ideas for beautiful horrible and twisty things run though my mind but the words will not come to me.

 

The real question is, why do people write harry as a girl? I see it as just another way to write slash, never read a slash story or a girl harry story and never will..

 

Why isn't girl-Harry a lesbian? The answer it easy. It's because the few pre-teen fangirls that DON'T like slash go completey ga-ga like the rest of their kind "OMG Drake n Sev r so cute!"
