Would this just be the original seven, or are we including Cursed Child as well?
Joe: the illustrated editions are expensive, but honestly I think they're worth every penny. They're beautiful.

    Isn't 28 weeks a bit… too long?

    Also, down for the reread.

Okay, I'll call that a fairly strong response.

Does anyone have any objection to, or suggested amendments to, the plan proposed by Rayndeon? If not then I would suggest we follow that plan.

I am only curious as to when we start because I really wouldn't be able to until Monday.

I'm down. It's been years since I read the books, unfortunately. Should we make a new thread for every section of reading? I'd rather do it like that because one thread usually makes it hard to focus a discussion.

I'm still stuck on Storm Front and the Dresden Files re-read... but sure. I'll knuckle down eventually and shove more room into my schedule for this.

It would seem to make sense to kick this thing off next week.

    I'm in!
Are we discussing this as we read?
    A book club of sorts?

I haven't read the books since DH came out. Reread the previous ones multiple times, but never since book 7.

I'm down for this. I think it'll be quite interesting and I'll definitely see the series in a new light now.

If you guys are interested, I'll make a subforum for the rereading discussions, along with a post icon signifying that threads belong to the re-read, rather than shove everything into a single thread.

I've done multiple complete series rereads, but I never thought of starting one at Halloween. How could I have missed this golden opportunity!

I'm definately down for this and yeah, a subforum would probably be a good idea.

Never mind, it's already there although empty for now.

I'm not too sure about the Halloween idea. It's neat and all but it seems like a largely empty gesture with no practical benefits, and comes with the downside of meaning we arbitrarily delay the start of the reread by a week. That seems kinda pointless now that we've made the decision to do it. I personally prefer the earlier suggestion about starting it Monday 23rd.

For me the fun part is the reading of the books and the discussion it generates. So why delay the fun for no real reason? :p

I agree with Taure, if only for the simple reason that I am physically unable to start on Halloween (I promised my friend I would give him the first book a week ago). And that I was thinking about doing a reread of canon as I am unable to fully separate fanon and canon in my head. So, the sooner the better.
I will see you all on Monday the 24th.

When I was younger I reread the series all the time. I'd really like to do it again, because I found as I reached the later stages of Uni, with little precious time, I'd read new things rather than reread old. I recently got the first illustrated and I'll get the second too. I just need to pick up the first from my Dad's place, next week. So I put myself in the 'start at halloween camp'. If that's not coherent, blame a near fifteen hour work day.
