    But Bredon isn't all that obvious. I mean there are like two or three hints total. We just happen to have about a few dozen damn good therist that are going to sniff out some of the easier or more completed plots. I'm not saying its 100% certain but of all the unknowns that is the only one I'd put money on. Honestly, the only thing I'm more confident about is Kvothe's mom being Lackless' sister.

    Come on, it's got to be him! If Pat seriously put that many ploys in there just to trick us then I'll be less than impressed. Baring the greatest plot twist of all time then all the hints he drops are just unnecessary clutter, for at least that portion of the book.

    I'm sure PR has the majority of connections in there by choice and great forethought but there are bound to be some random details that happily connect to one another. For instance, when the Coen brothers wrote "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", at first didn't see the striking connections between it and Homer's Odyssey. It is worth noting they say the resemblance early on and added more connections into the script.

    I agree that the music in this book is hard to quantify in today's society as there isn't much that can compare to what we are so privileged to have everyday. Music, well done music, was very hard to come by in such a time and place. Also from what I've been told of Stu-isms I agree that Kvothe doesn't quite fit the description, unless you overlook the glaring obstacles he had.     I agree that him in the streets during NotW is hard to read. But in no way is because that part makes him a Gary Stu. I think it is just really long and boring focusing almost solely on story development and having a tough time keeping the readers attention.     Perhaps. I do see the point of it... It could be quite tedious to read about success after perfect success. But I think the only thing that outshines Kvothe's own ability to succeed is his life's story ability to shit on him in big ways. I'm not sure I would believe a character could actually survive Pat's tale if they weren't a Gary Stu. At the very least it would much less entertaining (for me) because you'd have to read more about lucky circumstances that saved Kvothe than his own...

    Is being a Mary-Sue such a terrible thing? Kvothe as a character is built to be an epic character. Legends aren't made from just average people. Even in real life the myths and giants of the past are the extraordinary people in history. I'll be the first to admit Kvothe's sex appeal is played up a bit much. It wouldn't be completely shocking for him to be a ladies man but it is a bit much at times.

    If this were true I highly doubt Kvothe would be hiding in a tavern in BFE. He'd have an entire army at his disposal! I wouldn't be sitting idle with power like that. And I believe the poetry is in Eld Vintic. I'm assuming we can conclude its genesis from its name.

    It's definitely a specific wood, heavier like stone. The Cthaeh's tree is described as- And Meluan's box is described as- I think it is fair to guess that Kvothe's chest is made of roah, while the Lockless box is made of the same wood as the Ctheah's tree. That would be my bet at least. As to what that implies is inside Meluan's box... well I'll leave that up for further speculation. Bit of a tangent- is it redundant to put quotation marks inside a quote box? I'm unclear on the SOP.

    I only want one! Not a whole slew of wizardry but just a tiny flash of "Oh shit that kid could have torn the whole world apart at that moment". I would hate for the books to degrade to such uber power levels, but as I know the powers are out there I want to see them in action before all is done. Preferably, right after this he loses his faith/mind/alar and becomes Kote. Looking his true name in that damn chest.

    Up to this point in the books the majority of Kvothe's powers (while amazing and difficult) have not been more than preparation plus opportunity. Sure, he's freaky smart and has the Alar of ramsian(sp?) steel, but I'm waiting for him to wield fire and lightning, naming the elements he sees in the world. We've seen glimpses of this when he calls the wind or when a Master Names something, but I want to see it in actual action. Hopefully at some point in the Door of Stone Kvothe starts swinging...

    Well I'd bet my life savings and one of two testicles that this is not the final book in this universe. The next series may not center around Kvothe or Kote or whatever (though I'd be suprised if he PR can find a more or even equally charismatic main character) but there seems to be just as many questions left in the present as there are mysteries in the past.

    The arrow in the leg equaling cane is interesting, but I still find to many parallels between Bredon and Master Ash. Leaving town at the same time, dancing, Maer's court, etc. And Taure, as for my number juggling, I created a complex series of numeral matrices, concerning Kvothe's exploits, known and hinted at, Ran a string around and across my room in a freakishly detailed timeline compiling data all along... or I went completely on my gut feeling. Yeah- the second one.

    Alright so I'm curious as to what the odds are of us seeing certain people from the books again. Like peripheral characters from tNotW and WMF reappearing in the third book. These character are obvioulsy outside the main cast of people we see at the University like Sim, Wil, Fela, Mola, Devi, the Masters, Ambrose, etc. Skarpi(sp?) seems to be a guarantee, from his appearance in tNotW and from what Chronicler mentioned of him in real time. (100%) The Adem are a real toss up in my opinion....

    I suppose you could make a few sygaldry enhanced arrows, transferring incoming arrow energy into heat and have a heat-eater within the system somewhere.     This is my theory until I am proven wrong (i.e. the next book comes out). Brendon talks about picking up dancing and describes tak through a metaphor for dancing. Denna says her patron is a rather good dancer and in the court somewhere. You'll also note that when Denna is gone from Severen so is Brendon. Not to mention the when Brendon talks of a Beautiful game, well it's just sinister and full of mystery. (I'll quote my information later, but I don't have my book on hand) My kind of character.

    Not to mention we know that in the future he owns a tavern in the middle of BFE under a different name and it not king. Now I suppose the story could end with him becoming king in the present once it is realized his blood is the most royal of them all, but if that happened I'd find the nearest semi-automatic weapon and unload all the ammunition into a crowded square and then beat Rothfuss seven different shades of shit or until he changed the book.

    Bastards can be legitimized, it's happened in real life monarchies, but it's unlikely and I feel like there is absolutely no way they'd let one of the Ruh rule anything. Lorren would be a cool Amyr in disguise. And the Atur Empire once ruled damn near everything it seems, they crushed Yllish and I think destablized the Vint crown to knock the Maer's family off the block.     Ninja'd. Haha Oh and copper comes up quiet a bit in the stories. Solid copper door outside Elodin's cell at Haven, along with copper wires in the walls.
